It's going to return in Japan around Spring (or early Summer). They will cover Sonic Heroes and several new story arcs. Sonic fans rejoice! Ignore the dub, the original IS BACK!

Yes, that means they'll dub more Shadow episodes, and yes, he'll be featured in the new season quite a bit. :)

Oh joy...
Hopefully now that Chris and the other human chracters are'nt in the series anymore, it will improve.
Sonic Heroes is a damn good game, it's better than every Sonic Adventure game, so they BETTER not screw it up.

I dunno how they'll make Sonic Heroes work though. I mean, like nothing was explained during the game. (SH is ahou ..the only good part is Kage)

I mean, like nothing was explained during the game.
Nothing was explained during the first two Sonic games, and there better written than the first two seasons of this bollocks.
Sonic Heroes has more than enough subtle material, besides, I think it's a continuing story to be established further in the next game, much like Sonic 2 was part of a trilogy

I'm a big fan of the original Japanese version. Some excellent television. Still haven't gotten my part 3 box set. Got ripped off twice in a row on eBay for it, now it isn't showing up anymore.
What I REALLY want is for them to do an adaptation of the original 4 Genesis games. Sonic 1 didn't have much of a story but Death Egg-arc in 2, 3 and Knuckles was pretty compelling, plus it would cover Sonic's first meeting with Knuckles. A Sonic CD adaptation would also be great, gotta see Metal Sonic in action (though the 2 OVAs were pretty tight).

Good point. I know that more will be explained in SH 2.
But I just dont like the game overall. They screwed with the characters personalities. Especially Rouge.

I never finished Sonic Heroes, but Rouge seemed fine in what I did play. How did they ruin her?

Weird clothes. Getting pissed over nothing.
And stuff like this:
"Oh yeah baby, this makes us a team."

Sonic Heroes made me sick. God. They just just revert to 2D, cause 3D doesn't seem to be working.

That's because you're buying the Hong Kong ripoff subs. They're the only one's sold in three packs. I can tell you where to buy the originals, but they cost a fu*king fortune.
Sonic Adventure 1 to me was the one time they got it right. 2 was great, but I hated that damn mecha walking. Tails is supposed to fly and chase Sonic. Eggman, who cares. The emerald hunting was actually kinda fun, but a little monotonous. 1 just felt like a pure Sega game. Heroes feels like cheap sh*t using the Sonic Adventure engine. Sonic Advance 1 was just about perfect. 2 was hard as ehll, but good. 3 is kinda wierd, but they brought back the team aspect without forcing it on you like in Heroes.
I miss the old Genesis style though. That's what the series is missing after all these years. You just can't ever go back. *sigh* Sonic is missing his style because Sega is missing they're style. I want the old Sega. The Sega that SCREAMED at you in commercials. The Sega that had wierd ass games like Feel the Magic coming out every month. That Sega died with the Dreamcast. I want that Sega back on the other consoles. They kicked ass. NOt this kid sh*t like "Amazing Island". I want Ulala, Fighting Vipers, Streets of Rage, Daytona USA 3, and Sonic Adventure 3. The worst move they ever made was letting 4Kids run Sonic X in the US. THe Japanese version kicked all kinds of ass, but kids I talk to now say they can't stand it over here. Who can blame them. They're not getting to see the Sonic we know.

The sets are very good. I buy a lot of Hong Kong bootlegs, as they're much cheaper than buying official American releases (anime is more expensive than crack in this country, good thing I hate anime). The subtitles are horribly inacurate but lucky for me I speak the language.
I got the first two sets just fine from a good seller. Unfortunately, I tried to buy part 3 from two other sellers that were pretty shadey. I'm going to be more careful next time if it ever shows up on eBay again.

If there is ONE thing I wanna see, it's more action and Sonic being more agile. I know I've said this a THOUSAND times, but that was so beautiful in the OVA and Sonic CD cutscenes.

I have to agree.. they didnt do a good job bringing the shooting stuff form E-102 to Tails/Eggman in SA2.
But I love the Sonic/Shadow stuff...
...More Shadow...

I'd galdly take fewer episodes if more of them were animated like episodes 1, 9, 26, 36, ect. Those were godly.

This is my opinion on Sonic X. I hope it's okay if I post it here:
Okay...my ratings are based on the Japanese and French versions:
Episodes 1-13: 10
Episodes 14-26:6
Episodes 27-32:8
Episodes 33-38:7
Episodes 39-52:2
Overall, this anime was so-so.
This series had so much potential, and they didn't use it...WHY???!!!
Way too many stand-alone episodes (the term "filler" sounds to trashy for me), the animation got REALLY crappy after episode 13 (Except eps.20-26-32-38-44-52) I mean not even half of the episodes had decent animation. There wasn't enough action, the fights were over before they even started. I was expecting the action to be on par with The Sonic OVA and Sonic CD cutscenes where Sonic was SOOOO agile, and I got utterly disappointed.
And did any of you notice that the series had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what the promotion and pilot movie advertised? And Yuji Naka also said the anime would stay away from the games. YEAH, RIGHT!!!
And let's not forget about the show's BIGGEST flaw: the humans characters, namely CHRIS THORNDYKE (sp?). He hogged nearly all the spotlight: he stole Tails' role as Sonic's best friend, Amy's role in the SA2 adaptation. In short, he was selfish as all hell!!! It would've been better off if Sonic fell in the pool and Chris came and got him out and once he got him out Sonic would run off to find his friends and live in Station Square on his own with Tails. Then the anime would be a bit better.
But the anime had some good moments, like the first 13 episodes (back when the story was actually going somewhere), hearing Bokkun's laugh when the messages he sent exploded in someones face, the Super Sonic episodes, the EXCELLENT music and it was great to see another Sonic cartoon and all the characters make an animated appearance.
I suppose the only reason why I really watched it is because of the name "Sonic" branded on the title. -sigh-

The series was by no means perfect, but IMO it's easily the best Sonic cartoon ever made.
I don't think I've seen a single episode of the American version (heard it got editted to hell, though), so my opinion is based solely off the Japanese version.
I'm not a big anime fan, that much is true. I HATE anime humour. You know, giant sweat-drops, characters "face-faulting" all the time, stupid sh*t like that. That's my major complaint about Sonic X, the annoying anime humour. But it IS a kid's show, a Japanese kid's show, no less. So that much is expected.
Many of the stand-alone episodes were either boring and/or stupid. But there were just as many good ones. My favorites are the homage to Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner (the one where Sonic can't stop running) and the Chaotix episode. But whenever they did a big arc or a game adaptation it was well worth it.
My favorite part of the show, though, was the voice-acting. PERFECT! Sonic's constant use of random English was annoying at first (pronounciation...horrible) but quickly became a funn character trait. I tink my favorite voice was Dr. Robotnik's, though (f*ck Eggman, he's Robotnik to me). He sorta sounded like Aku from Samurai Jack only a lot goofier.
The animation from TMS Studios was both good and bad. It HATE it when animation quality fluxuates in a cartoon. It's really distracting. Sonic X did that quite a bit. It's like they saved the most money for the big important episode arcs and did a budget job on all the stand alone episodes. The recycled animation didn't help. Felt like I was watching Sailor Moon or one of the more recent Japanese Transformers cartoons. Yuck.
All in all, it was funny (when it wanted to be), well-animated (when it wanted to be), had an engaging story and the voice acting was superb. I rank it as the best Sonic cartoon to date, perhaps tied with the OVA episodes.

I also hate it when the animation fluxuates in a cartoon. I watch cartoons mostly on a technical level.
DrSpengler, I don't remember seeing any recycled animation in Sonic X. Could you give me an example?

Whenever he gets the power ring and turns into a ball. He did that a lot. There were other moments I noticed, I'll have to rewatch some episodes to remember them. But pretty much whenever the background gets all blurry and the main character's charging or something, they recycle those all the time. They do it a lot in the new TMNT, I've noticed.
I also watch cartoons on a "technical level" (that's a good way to put it). I always look out for frame-rate and detail and just overall quality.
It's weird, when I was a kid I never noticed bad animation. Fantasia looked just as good as Rocky and Bullwinkle to me. I didn't care.
Now animation quality is all I notice, and it impresses me.
For instance, I watched the three Megaman OVAs (released in Japan back in the early 90's) last night. After nothing but terrible to mediocre efforts with Megaman in the animation world, I was nothing short of impressed with the show.
Though it certainly was..."different", it was hands down the most faithful adaptation of Megaman ever. NT Warrior is based of games I don't play, the mid 90's series had some great voice acting but everything else sucked hard, and Captain N was...well, Captain N.
The DVD got released on Tuesday, BTW. It's called "Megaman: Wishing Upon a Star". It's obvious edutainment, but the animation makes up for it. Plus they brought back Scott McNeil as Dr. Wily (one of the only good things about the mid 90's series). Sweet.

One thing I found funny about the 90s Mega Man cartoon: the intro was just beautiful (visually speaking). The animation was EXTREMELY detailed and the level of violence was INSANE (Robot masters blew up on walls, getting burnt to a crisp, destruction on a HIGH scale, etc...) . But the show itself just sucked.

Heh. I was just thinking that last night (I watched a couple episodes of the mid 90's series after I finished the OVAs).
THe opening has a truely "epic" feel to it. Dr. Wily leading his robot armies like a general, cities being destroyed, Megaman's creation, Robotmasters wreacking havoc everywhere, and a showdown between Megaman and Protoman (complete with Roll praying in the background). Fantastic!
The show itself? Another campy bunch of cartoon cliches written by people who've never played a single Megaman game in their lives. Robo-College? For God's sake!!
Not all the episodes were bad though. Mega X featuring a cameo from "take a wild guess" was pretty damn good. I think they blew their entire animation budget on that episode...and the opening sequence.

Yeah, they NEVER should've dumped Toei for that Korean studio after season 1. I would've loved to have seen some of those season 3 episodes in Toei-quality animation.
Granted, Toei isn't perfect (12 Thundercrackers all talking in Shockwave's voice about Shockwave), but they're certainly a lot prettier than that Korean studio.

Speaking of Toei, did you know they were the ones who animated the Sonic CD cutscenes? They did NOT animate the OVA despite popular belief. The company who animated the OVA was Studio Pierrot.

Really!?
Hey, I didn't know that! :)
Studio Pierrot did an excellent job mimicing Toei's style, to their credit. As you said, most people (myself included) can't tell the difference.
Just something related to this, and credits to Voltron for finding it first.
