I figure since it's a new drome, a new thread is in order.

I played the demo, it's awesome..

Found out some more info on whats gonna happen...>A familiar face comes back....2 actually. Ada Wong, duh. and another........

Wait for it....

Nicolai. From nemesis...Yeah, the dude who died. Guess not.

Kid Icarus

I gotta play the demo. Man, that scared the hell outta me, and it was in the store.

I was looking at a box, and some dude just comes up and stabs me. WTF? I mean, I know I just blew creepy old dudes head off, but in all fairness he tried to kill me with an axe.

The controls are STILL sucktastic though. Capcom, you suck. But the game looks... just. Yeah. It's really stunning. Cept the jaggies. That bothers me. It just feels creepy. Not the same "i'm gonna get eaten by flesh eating zombies" but more of a Metroid creepy, where you're all alone and no one's there to help you creepy.

I'm still waiting for the demo to be delivered to me. In the mean time, I'm playing REmake

Brodie

As fun as the remake is, it has nothing on RE4.

Same here. This game looks incredible.

Brodie

I suggest playing RE2 and RE: Nemesis before this, because you probably won't know the characters any other way.

Jed
01-01-2005, 04:40 PM
Would you not put a spoiler warning before you write the names, I didn't think you were gonna actually say who they were so I kept reading.

Brodie
01-01-2005, 04:42 PM
Well, considering that any website you go to that has pics shows Ada...

And I did say... "Wait for it........" and skipped a line before I said the next one, jeez.

Jed
01-05-2005, 01:43 PM
I don't look at pictures because they spoil the game. I didn't look at a single San Andreas picture before I bought the game, I'm very picky about things being spoiled. Another example, the Star Wars episode 3 trailer came on in the cinema, so I pulled my hat down over my eyes and covered my ears. I don't care if people thing that's weird, I don't want things spoiled for me. Is it really that hard to write *spoilers*??

Kid Icarus
01-05-2005, 02:37 PM
well, it's like me in that Metroid Prime 2 thread. If I didn't want ANYTHING spoiled, I wouldn't have gone in there.

I haven't really had the chance to see the previews for the RE4. A few of my friends have told me that what they have seen is totally great. I haven't had the chance to finish RE: Nemisis, but I have beaten RE1 and RE2 multiple times. I absolutly adore the game...the only realy problem I have is the controls are a bit of a pain. Does anyone know if they are going to change that in the fourth one?

Jed
01-06-2005, 10:29 AM
well, it's like me in that Metroid Prime 2 thread. If I didn't want ANYTHING spoiled, I wouldn't have gone in there.

I thought it would be a discussion about how cool the game is gonna be, maybe a few things revealed but nothing big, not a "here's all the surprises in the game without posting that it's a spoiler" thread.

Brodie
01-06-2005, 10:51 AM
About the controls:

Leon is, as a norm, in a jogging state. You use the B button to run.

You use the Analog to control Leon, so this is unlike the other games.

Although in the short instances you control Ashlee GMR states that you have to revert to Old school controls.

R trigger is to pull out the gun, A button to fire.

L trigger to pull out the big ass knife, A to use it.

Some other stuff from GMR:*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

-There's somewhere around 25 hours plus gameplay.
-Recieved a 10 out of 10 on the rating scale (Halo 2 didn't even get ten.)

There's more but I'll post it later.

Storm Wolf

Doesn't sound to bad. I know manuverability was always an issue in the older ones.

As for ratings...wow...I'm definatly going to check it out now.

I thought it would be a discussion about how cool the game is gonna be, maybe a few things revealed but nothing big, not a "here's all the surprises in the game without posting that it's a spoiler" thread.

If you wanted nothing at all spoiled, then why come into the thread at all? You should have known you'd get spoiled one way or another.

Kid Icarus

Now, Nintendo needs to get on with hyping the game up. Or at least Capcom needs to. I haven't seen any TV ads for it yet. This game better push at least half a million at launch.

I was able to play the demo at some game shop, and I really like this game, Im not really into the resident evil stuff, saw the movies, they were ok.
But damn I just might have to pick this one up.

Spitfire
01-07-2005, 07:04 PM
Im buying this game the day it comes out.....thats all I have to say about it

01-07-2005, 07:06 PM
Due to the lack of funds, I have to wait for my tax return check to come to buy this...which could be a while. :ohwell:

Spitfire
01-08-2005, 02:05 AM
I read you get stuff for reserving it. I was wondering what kinda goodies you guys picked up. I dont have the money to reserve it and I wont have the money to buy it unil the day it comes out sadly. I spent all my money on CDs....lots of CDs hahaha
I heard that EBgames gives you a pathic 10 DVD with the making of the game on it
I hear Gamestop gives you a 20 pages graphic novel and on the website it says you get the soundtrack to the game

Ive also read that you get get the RE 2 movie and soundtrack with the game

ThirdMarioBro
01-08-2005, 02:20 AM
I'm going with the soundtrack CD. Those wind up costing more on ebay, so I should get it now.

Spitfire

Kid Icarus
01-10-2005, 01:39 PM
Wow. I got farther in the demo (across a bridge, through a gate...)

There's some REALLY messed up stuff. I went in this one cabin, and there was this womans corpse just stuck to the wall. Just sticking there, with an axe in her chest. O_O.

Then I got to the main villiage, with the bonfire. The guy on the meat hook? Yeah, he's still moving around a bit. >_>. Mikami, you are one sick bastard.

01-10-2005, 01:44 PM
It may get a high rating, but it'll never be Resident Evil 2. Oh baby, just thinking about that game gives me a warm feeling.

Again, no money, no game. Maybe I can rent it or something...until I get money to buy it.

Brodie
01-10-2005, 01:48 PM
I love this game for things like that, I mentioned before the girl hanging on the wall. Correction: The pitchfork is through her face. If you zoom in with the binoculars you can still see the dripping.

I also love the idea of certain things like the rednecks plowing your ride off the cliff. Like, it's slightly psychological.

I hear that Leon can die quite easily with certain enemies, I know the Chainsaw guy, that's a given, I've seen it first hand many-a times. But Also, the giant, There's screen caps of Leon being crushed, and torn apart by the giant.

Making a new sig...."You Are Dead."

Spitfire
01-10-2005, 05:27 PM
Mmmm Voilence gives me sick pleasure :D
I also get a Laser Cell of Leon with my book and soundtrack and all of it is in some kind of metal tin thing

Brodie
01-10-2005, 05:49 PM
I hate you.

Oh well, next time I look in here I hope to see some reviews, Ill try to post one tommrow

Kid Icarus
01-11-2005, 12:23 AM

Checks body, Not a Zombie! hahaha awesome
Ill post more when I get further. I love it I LOVE IT! I no long feel like a victem I feel like I have some form control over my fate

Peanut
01-11-2005, 06:35 PM
Can you ever make a post without including DMC in it? Even once?

Brodie
01-11-2005, 09:23 PM
Especially considering Leon came before Dante...

Anyway, I just started Chapter 2, passed the giant fish (Hard as hell) and the Giant.

A tip: In the beginning when you find the dog in the bear trap, save it rather than shoot it, it will come back to assist you throughout the game.

Spitfire
01-11-2005, 10:07 PM
I saved the dog he looked so helpless. I also fought no such giant fish in chapter 2 and Im on Chapter 4 or 5. Anyways fact I lost my awesome jacket in the end of chapter 1....oh well looks like the story unfolds differently for each person
And Peanut I make lots of posts without Dante in them I cant help it if Leon's attitude reminds me of a young Dante. And Leon didnt act like he does in RE 4 in RE 2. In RE 2 he didnt have many classic phrases, then again he has more experience now. Im still confused by who the chick on his radio is. And has anyone been scared by it yet? I was but only once. This dude was in a building and I didnt see him and I turned around cause I heard a noise and I turned back and he was in my face grabbing me. So I wiggled the joy stick real quickly and kicked his head off! Ha take that you evil villager

Spitfire's Random RE 4 tips of the day:
Kill chainsaw guys to get a Rudy worth 3,000
Shoot shiney Blue objects you see in the begining of the game. They will later help you unlock something
When you get the Cat's Eye dont sell it, possibly useful later to get secert items *Since the puzzle to get it required thinking I have a feeling its for something else since they only give you 3,000 for it*
Stab cows violently in the butt region and watch them moo and die for lots of fun hahahaha

*spoiler if you havnt seen the intro*

In the intro they show Chris Renfeild I think and he looks to be a bad guy

I edited the thread title to say there's spoilers inside.

I want this game so bad it hurts.

And Ai, what was it about RE2 that made it so good? Just curious...

01-12-2005, 12:44 AM
Everything. The game is the kind of game you can play over and over. Plus, there's a B game to both characters, to show what happened to the other character when you were separated at the beginning. So it's almost a brand new game. Plus, Ada Wong is in the game. Asian women is always a plus. The game is just so great.

ThirdMarioBro
01-12-2005, 12:48 AM

I've just read about a Japanese article in which the Polygon counts of Metal Gear Solid 3 and Resident Evil 4 were compared (as we all know, it was said that those games are supposed to almost completely exploit their consoles' hardware power). Now pay attention please: A usual villager in Resident Evil has about the same amount of polygons as Snake himself (4000) while Leon has 10.000! How the hell is RE4 supposed to look on the PS2??? It'll be hard work for Capcom to port that game without making it look like a pile of crap.

Spitfire
01-12-2005, 08:09 AM
Wow thats pretty impressive! I knew the Gamecube had alot of power in it. Watch out PS2 you might get a cel-shaded RE 4 with awesome Viewtiful Joe graphics haha.
Now wonder what the ploy count for Jehunty in ZOE 2 is because that game has the best PS2 graphics I have ever seen

Brodie
01-12-2005, 12:21 PM
In regards to Spitfire's so called spoiler:

It is NOT Chris Redfield. It's Nicholai, I already mentioned this.

And how did you not fight the fish? He's the thing you fight in the boat....so you can get to the other island to get into the church......

Now now now... Cel-shading is actually more complex them regular texture mapped 3-d art. The format shows off any rough edges in the characters model, and is really hard to pull off properly.

I got the the church without getting in boat....Im going to IM you on AIM and see if this game has different storylines to it because I didnt fight any fish and I havnt been to any lake

The laser cel is really cool and the metal case. But the book is stupid. Its worth 10 extra bucks so if you can spare it then do it.

Im still on disk 1 I just got to thr fire part

I just finished the game, and I have some things to say.

Possible spoilers, maybe. Not really, just comments. You've been warned.

The tone of the game is dark, I think, more so than the others. And anyone who pisses an moans about the lack of zombies needs a good kick in the crotch.

The ending of the game is phenominal, and something you have to play for yourself. That's right, play it.. Spitfire, AKA Dante Lover, will love the end, because its straight from the end of Devil may Cry.

the ending:
Brings some serious closure to the story, but at the same time opening so many doors for other games to branch off of.

This, currently, is my favorite game of all time. **** Mario bros 3. And theres Replay value galore. I can't stress this enough: Buy this damn game.

I'll post more later, I'm gonna start Assignment Ada, then a speed run.

01-17-2005, 01:46 PM
Im on Disk Two now and to say Im just impressed is a understatement. The game has me really into it. I can see myself playing again and again. Its a pretty long game to. Even if you know what to do it still takes some time to actually do it. The castle was fun but the island is really cool so far! I love buying things to. Sadly though I bought a Broken Butterfly to find ammo is rarely ever found. Then there is the Killer 7 to get. I guess Im going to buy all the best guns and max them out with all exclusive. Once I get ultimated ammo*Which I read you can get* I dont have to worry about space in my case. Just need room for healing items

Brodie
01-17-2005, 04:44 PM
How do you get unlimited ammo?

I have the Matilda on my second play through. I haven't found out if it's unlimited ammo yet.

Spitfire
01-17-2005, 06:14 PM
I just beat it. My reward is a ultimated ammo rocket launcher and Matilda, I gota buy them but it's worth it.
To get ultimated ammo you have to beat the game a certin ammount of times to unlock the gun in the merchants shop. Its either a upgrade or you just buy it again I dont know.

Speaking of the merchant
I hope he made it out alive lol poor guy might have got exploded with the island

My thoughts on the game after beating it
The 2nd to last boss battle is the coolest and best boss battle I have ever played in. It was so awesome!
Everything about the game rules, except the FMVs pretty much suck. The ending wasnt very impressive I think they could/should have done more with it*opinion*. But that doesnt matter because of how great everything else is

Lastly I wanna say that the last boss is the easiest boss in the game to kill without just using a rocket launcher
My tip on killing the last boss
If you have about 9 gernades Saddler is toast. Just throw them under his body he will fall then climb him and repeat until Ada throws you the finisher weapon

There's barelly any backtracking, which was always a gripe I had with the other RE games. The puzzles are usually solved within seconds or minutes, and theres like, a total of 4 keys throughout the game.

It revolves around how a real person would survive: Blowing **** up.

Brodie
01-20-2005, 07:24 PM
I've been playing the minigames a loit lately, Both Assignment Ada, which aparently holds a storyline, and I've played Mercenaries. Mercenaries is like a hard version of Resident Evil 2's The Fourth Survivor.

You get a minute to kill as many people as possible, and you find health, ammo, and time increases to help kick up your score. It's by no means easy. You start with Leon, and unlock a character for each level when you get 4 stars on their respective levels.

The village unlocks Ada, the Waterworld unlocks Krauser, the base unlocks Wesker, and the best of all, the Ganado base unlocks HUNK.

I haven't done very well on the so called 'easy' levels. And they throw in at least two bosses per level, either Chain gunners, or chainsaw ladies. I played one of the harder levels and unlocked my favorite characters of all time. I'm telling you right now, it's fun as eff.

Hunk has a special move, instead of a kick, he snaps people's necks.

Spitfire

Watch out for the 9 foot tall chainsaw guy who has a duel bladed chainsaw in the water level. Its a one hit kill and he takes alota ammo to kill. I almost unlocked Krauser but he killed me first little bastard!

Im glad you like it Trunks the game is amazing Im enjoying my 2nd run through

I just found this out today if anyone is intrested
On the third play through the ghosts of dead cult memebers chase you around the Castle

Brodie
01-23-2005, 09:43 AM
My friend, who's a RE maniac, he didn't like the ending, and said the story went nowhere. My theory is that he was expecting zombies somewhere along the line. And wanted to be thrown back into the original story lines. He said the story was piss poor (It's not), and thought it did nothing for the series. ...Yet he loves Outbreak, which is just another game about characters in the same city, in the same disaster, in the same situation... ****-A-Doodle-Doo

Spitfire
01-23-2005, 08:50 PM
Your friend is obviously one track minded and cant except change

I got the typewritter its a very nice weapon. Im working on getting the hend-cannon. I got Hunk unlocked so far. hes not very good. But I still need to get 5 stars with him on every level to get the weapon....Im on my 3rd run now. I just beat the lake monster.
