View Full Version : The Day After Tomorrow
Anybody here who likes "The Day After Tomorrow"?
I mean, I like it, i also have the DVD, but isn't it a bit odd, that the world gets another ice age in weeks? I think it is not possible. Maybe in 100 years and more, but not in such a short period of time.
But it is not impossible, that such things happen. Its just not possible in such a short amount of time...

I don't think Roland Emmerich's movies should be taken too seriously.
Yeah, you might be right. But isn't it possible that such things could actually happen? I mean, of course not in such a short amont of time, but isn't it possible??

ID4 was about the most patriotic piece of junk I've ever seen. Funnily it was doen by a german bloke... Anyways, if it wasn't for the action and teh great Special Effects, then I'd say this was one of the worst movies ever.
The best movie he did IMO was Stargate. Good story, well thought-out characters and Kurt Russell.

Hey the worst movie ever made is a long strech. I mean your forgetting House Of The Dead. Which was worse then AVP if thats possible. Hell maybe even worse then the Spice Girls movie!
I have Stargate that movie is cool! I thought ID4 was alright I saw it when I was like 10 or 11 so I thought at the time it kicked butt! But I wouldnt buy it....now after seeing it recently haha Still not a super bad movie

No, I don't. Propaganda films must be seen as the worst movies there are, because they're dangerous. They mess with people's heads, which the media shouldn't
Storywise and humourwise worst movie of all time: Mars Attacks. I had such high hopes in it, but got disappointed. There's one good scene (before the president gets killed) but the rest is just pitiful.

That movie scares the hell out of me because I think it's going to happen someday.

From the old The Day After Tomorrow thread, before its theatrical release:
Someone could take a pair of scissors and some scotch tape to Twister, Deep Impact, Armageddon, Dante's Peak, The Core, Volcano, Earthquake, Independence Day and Pearl Harbour (just to make sure you cover all bases) and not only do I think it would be more cost effective, but most people probably couldn't tell the difference.
Though I've yet to see the movie, I stand by my convictions. And while I see some merit in trying to inform the general public via the silver screen about environmental concerns and make Joe Six Pack think twice about tossing a styrofoam cup on the ground, this movie is classified as Science Fiction. Emphasis on the word fiction.
@Jester: I think Fahrenheit 9/11 is, even though I haven't seen it, a very stupid movie. Michael Moore could have one something else, something people can take more seriously.
I think the Day after tomorrow is a good movie, even though I know such things can't happen in the next, let's say 100 years...

Watch things before you judge them.
I think Fahrenheit 9/11 has a good base. The idea behind the film is not too bad. It is to show the economic connections between the war parteis. But Moore makes the mistake of getting too propaganda-telling. for that he should get punished. He ruined a good movie by doing that. And by his urge to become famous. Funny thing is, he is able to make a propaganda-free movie, "the big one" was great.

I'm sorry, but I hated The Day After Tomorrow. One of my least favorite films of last year.

Worst movie of all time? No. Worst movie you've ever seen? Ok. Seriously, over the past 100 years of filmmaking, do you honestly think that out of the thousands of movies made that Mars Attacks! is the worst movie ever made?

Couldn't agree more. Actually, I thaught the idea for the movie wasn't that bad, but everything else was just so overly Hollywood and bad that I really didnt' like it at all.

I have to watch The Day After Tomorrow for an assignment in my Global Change class. I am comparing it to State of Fear for my assignment.
What is state of Fear?? I have no idea what you are talking about. What is it about??

Michael Crichton's latest book about a terrorist plot to control the weather and destroy the world! Seriously. Didn't Shredder try do that in, what, half a dozen TMNT episodes?

typed the words right out of my mouth... exactly what I was thinking... this movie could have been good, but the script writing, the acting, and the effects were terrible... wanna see the world get destroyed, watch Independence Day.... at least in indepence day you get to see aliens...

I loved the Day after Tomorrow! Who knows..I seriously think that it will happen to Earth one day. We already having global warning even though some people do not believe it. True it won't happen so fast but I do see it in our distant future.

I like State of Fear....I just started reading and it has caught my attention. Michael Crichton is a good science novel writer....it is apparent that he does his research. Those who do not remember who he is....he wrote Jurassic Park, the scripts of ER, and Hot Spot.
Cool. I found some books I really have to read!
