I don't understand, I got my console a couple months after launch, and I've never had a single problem with it. Not even once. Maybe I'm just lucky, but no one I know personally has ever had a problem either.

I talked to a few guys at work and they said it's a common issue, we do devo a lot of 360s. But they also said once I get a new one it should work just fine.

I've been playing TP again, so I've had it on for a couple hours the past couple days, but I just haven't put you in. Maybe if there was an actual reason to do it...but there isn't. The stuff about Metroid 3 is good to hear, just because it's finally showing that the Wii apparently more powerful than an Xbox. It'll stuck suck in a generic sci-fi FPS kind of way, though.

I've heard the Kingdom Hearts rumor a ton of times, and I think it's a smart decision. I think most of the pressure for that came from Buena Vista Ent., as they wanted KH2 to be multi-platform as well. I'm certain it'll happen this time, there have been rumors of a 360 version for awhile as well. We'll see how that goes down.

A new NiGHTS game would be pretty cool. I never played much of it when it was released, as I never owned a Saturn, so I only ever got to play it at a friends house. I remember it being pretty fun, not as good as it's claimed to be these days, but still a fun title. It certainly had a ton of potential.

The rest I really don't have an opinion on.

Report: Wii outsells PS3 in Japan

Japanese magazine says Wii sold more than twice the number of PS3s in console's home country; Sony likely missed 2006 shipping target in Japan, worldwide.

The final tally of the holiday sales of the Wii and PlayStation 3 in North America may still be up in the air (NPD is expected to release its official figures this Thursday), but across the Pacific Ocean, the first wave of numbers are in.

Nintendo's Wii won the head-to-head battle for Japan against its rival, the Sony PlayStation 3, according to Reuters via Japanese magazine Enterbrain. The article in the magazine claims that 989,118 Wiis were sold in Japan between the console's December 2 launch through the end of the year. Sony, on the other hand, reportedly sold 466,716 PS3s in Japan between that system's launch on November 11 and the end of December.

The Enterbrain information also suggests that Sony may have missed its PS3 shipment targets at the cost of its home country. Earlier this week, Sony announced that it had shipped 1 million PS3s to North America--half of what the company had planned to ship worldwide by the end of the year--only by diverting stock from Japan.

With less than 500,000 units sold in Japan in 2006, Reuters infers Sony did not meet its target of 2 million units shipped through the end of the year, a target that was "within reach," according to Sony, as recently as mid-December.

Sony plans to ship 6 million PS3s worldwide by the end of March.

I already have Gradius Collection for the psp which contains gradius arcade games from the original to 4 gradius gaiden was released on the ps1 only in Japan. First time North American gets gradius 2 and gradius gaiden.

Okay, here's something that just warms up my little gamer heart. In North America, we all know we got a "different" Super Mario Bros. 2 than Japan. Now, I would argue that we got the better deal, and a more original game to boot, not to mention that game had a profound influence on the Mario franchise as a whole (imagine Yoshi's Island without it), but still, North America never got the "other" Super Mario Bros. 2 until the Mario All-Stars compilation which we may not see on the VC for a loooooooong time.

Now, to me, that game is not Super Mario Bros. 2. It never could be to me. Of course in Japan, that sentiment is the complete opposite. Still, I think we deserve it to be released under "The Lost Levels" banner in all it's NES glory, but is that unrealistic?

I guess not. Thanks to the never-quite-so tight-lipped ESRB, I can confirm that North America is getting the Japanese original, Super Mario Bros. 2, ala Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels for the Virtual Console with a slightly modified title screen to reflect the approiate name change, and our Super Mario Bros. 2 coming at a later date.

You're right, it doesn't. It's just Super Mario Bros. with some cheap enemy placement, and the addition of a couple jumps that require exact pixel perfect button presses to execute properly. And honestly, big deal. It's the exact same game as the SNES version, except it'll be 8-bit and have a different title screen? Nintendo fans really do eat up everything.

Not sure if this counts, but www.yatsha.com has games literally made JUST for the wii browser. Like, when you go to the site on your wii, it'll recognize that and take you straight to the wii games. Two of them even use both the A and B buttons. I know it's not a big deal, but I mean, how did they program it to recognize the B button?

Thing is, you don't pay for how things look with Nintendo... you pay for the amount of entertainment you get. Or something like that. It's what they've been saying for a while.

If they know you're going to go back again and again for more of game X they're going to charge you full price for that title.

If they have the feeling it's going to be a 'play a few times and toss it aside' kinda game, they'll pry put it at a lower price.

And touch generations... that's pry among the dumbest things they've done. Those games were successful before that label... I see no point in it now.

I been very interested in this sonic game. Despite teh wii being weaker than the ps3/xbox 360 the graphics sure look nice. Gameplay matters in a sonic game.. graphics are 2nd.. this game will proabbly do much better than the 360 and ps3 version of sonic.

Um also, I was wondering, with castlevania symphony of the night coming to xbox live arcade on the 360, i was hoping konami releases rondo of blood on the wii considering the turbo graphix 16 is one of the systems the wii vc is supporting. we already got super castlevania 4 which is a good title.

I also hope for castlevania 3 as well.

Once again, HAL and Intelligent Systems games getting no promotion whatsoever. :( Fu*king Nintendo.

My guess is they are pretending they never showed it so they can re-announce it as a new title, or the whole thing was canned because it couldn't be rigged to use the remote "in an intuitive and innovative way".

As for the DK racer, it was reported to be in re-development, basically starting over as a Wii game stripped of the fu*king Bongo controls (Thank heavens). That was getting degrading. It's now called DK Kongo Blast.

We had Wii's at work today. And a million people waiting outside*Well not a million but a crapload* we had a meeting first, which was an unbearable 2 and half hours long, before we let them in. They handed out tickets an hour before the doors opened and when I went to leave over half the crowd was gone.

At the meeting one of the supervisors referred to them as Wii-tards. I got a good chuckle out of that one. We also had a raffle for a Wii. Damn things are still smoking in sales I guess. That's our 4th Wii shipment that we had lines for and sold out instantly. We had a 5th that showed up out of the blue and that was gone right away too.

I'm thinking of giving Hotel Dusk for DS a shot. I'm traditionally not a fan of this kind of stuff, and Trace Memory bored me when I borrowed it, but this seems to ditch the crap and give away to a great story and immersive experience. It sounds like what I call a "bedtime game", one of those slow and simple things I like to play in spurts at night before I go to sleep.

Funds have been extremely limited for me these days. Being a poor college student sucks, with loans all over the place. I do try to get games for the consoles I have, though. By March, I should have a 360 and Wii. My tax return check should be in the 800's, so I'll be good to go. Wii does need more games for me to warrant buying one.

It's got a lot of stuff, kinda hard to take it all in there's just so many news updates. I only read two of the reports and it took a while cause they're really long which is good, much longer than I thought they'd be. It's hard to see what a story's about though when you're just looking at the first line of a huge news report.

They sent an email to my Wii telling me it's the first version of the News Channel so I assume the next few things they do will be just to update what's already there (new versions of the Forecast and Weather Channel, etc), and they've still to start this DS connectivity they spoke of and then the proper release of the browser is out in March. So there's still a lot to go.

That made me recall something Phil Harrison said about a year ago.

And that looks like it will blow hard. Kameo is so underrated. It was a fun little game, but it ends right when it should be going into overdrive. And yeah, I don't buy random FPS. Gears was the only one I bought last year, and I'm going to enjoy the multi-player as a time killer for a looooong time. Halo 3 is probably the only one I'll touch this year.

I'm also surprised by the Wii early this year. Its not going to really have a drought in the same sense as the PS3, or even GameCube/N64 with nothing coming out forever. Its just going to have a slow period with Wario Ware, Wii Play, Sonic, and Super Paper Mario all spread out to soften the landing.

Ok, I just bought my sister a pink DS lite for her birthday next week. I haven't had a DS for a year and a half now, so I'm not sure whats all out there. I know I'm getting her NSMB, and I want to get her 1 more. She doesn't play many video games but she loves the DS. I have a couple ideas.

Tetris DS-She loves regular tetris. But is this waaay different?
Nintendogs- She always loved those Tomaguchie(sp) things.
The Sims 2- She liked the Urbz for the DS and Sims on PC.

I'm wondering if any of you have them and if you do would you recommend them to a 12 year old? Any other recommendations? Thanks.

Cool thanks. I wasn't sure about the Sims. Do you own either Tetris or Nintendogs? If you do, does Tetris have the original mode because I saw it had some new, funky modes. Animal Crossing might be good, but I think I'll tell her about it and she can buy it if she wants it. I'm going with Tetris or Nintendogs, but I worried Nintendogs will get old quickly.

Honestly, neither Tetris or Nintendogs will last all that long. My sister was blowing her top waiting for Nintendogs, and it was played for like two weeks MAX. It's been on the shelf ever since. You'd be better off going with something she can play for a long amount of time, such as the two I mentioned before. Maybe even Yoshi's Island DS would be a good choice.

dude, please quiet, read my post again, I only hated metroid prime hunters. I didn't enjoy the online portion of mario kart and tetris but they were still good games.

2006 was a great year for ds gaming so.

ANyways, mr. peanut who I think is a nintendo fanboy and a sony hater, you seem to think that the psp games are cheap eh well guess what hey are and are great too. You got to know this that sometimes buying old games are better than buyng new ones because you can go back and play the ones you didn't buy when they were released because they are cheaper to get. Also, renting psp games is hard enough unlike ds.. I only find 2 stores that rent psp games.

I got my sister a pink DS for her birthday last year. She's mad for : NSMB, Mario Kart and Wario Ware. I think Wario Ware's here favourite, when I first got it (for the GBA) she practically nicked my GBA from me. It was honestly impossible to get a game on it. So when I got her a DS, naturally I gave her WarioWare (touch and go). Oh, and she completed NSMB before me. She's a gaming ninja :lol:

I tend to give it to whoever I'm playing with. Chances are they're probably going to need it more than I am. HOWEVER...if it's your turn and that path is open...hey, fair game! I tend to be working with whoever I'm playing with, though, so it never really becomes an issue.

Anyways I asked because my roomate and I were playing SMB3 tonight and I got every mushroom house in worlds 1 and 2. He had his opportunities to stop me by stealing my turn, but I'm too good:D He was getting pissed, seriously. I couldn't believe how imature he was acting, it's just a game. He kept calling me a "f*cking tool" and if my understanding of the word "tool" as an insult is correct, that doesnt make any sense.

Here's something I didn't put in the VC reviews before it went to press. When Diddy Kong Racing DS was announced for DS with five player online (icecicle Pyramid FTW) new tracks, track editor, improved controls, and a preserved soundtrack, I put away the original cartrige and it's sh*tty 20PS framerate. The loss of Banjo and Conker was but a small compermise. Mario Kart 64 was the only N64 game I still regularly played.

With the release of Mario Kart 64 on the VC, I was in for a pleasnt suprise. Not only does the game run in Pro-Scan like the rest of them do, but this sucker has been modified by Nintendo to support true 16:9 widescreen. The framerate is fixed, there is no slowdown in battle mode (think Skyscraper with 4-players), the music no longer cuts out in four player, and a couple of bugs have been fixed. That clunk you just heard was the sound of my N64 being unhooked and placed into the rubbermaid drawer of retirement.

Seriously, you're being dumb. "First extreme violent game on a nintendo system"? Usually I don't mind about how much violence a game has or not (Dewy's Adventure FTW), but this needs to be said. Plenty of violent games have come out on a nintendo system, like Spitfire has said. YOU may think this is the first violent game, but it really isn't. I for one already have this game paid off, and plan to spend some quality time with Sonic the day the game comes to stores. Like I've said before, this game has me pumped.

Anyways, a new topic, while reading that cool posts over at the Xbox thread about crackdown with all the explosions you can do, reminds me of an old n64 title called Blast Corps.

Since rare isn't with nintendo anymore, it is kinda disapointing to not see such a wonderful and challanging game on the VC... this is the kind of game I would purchase off the VC. It is such a great and sastifying game and getting the medals are tough but worth it.
