Was anyone really expecting excitement out of A Boy and His Blob? Like...seriously? Has no one played the original game?
I also find it funny that Wii owners are reduced to hyping a new game from a C-list NES franchise as the next big thing. Funny and depressing.

Anyone seen the IGN review for "Sonic and the Black Knight"? Especially the video review is relatively entertaining for an IGN review. It's a shame poiyutre doesn't post here anymore to tell us how amazingly awesome this game is going to be.

So, Wii Sports Resort is getting delayed to either late Summer, or early Fall. That means we can basically forget Nintendo having any sort of decent showing at E3. They'll just repeat last year and talk more about how revolutionary it is to throw a Frisbee to a virtual dog.
MadWorld is getting pretty good reviews. I'm still pissed about it being in 480i, though.

By the way, who here has used his Wii this year? Raise hands!
I'm still trying to beat All Star mode in SSBB with everyone, so me, lolz. But yeah, on-rails Dead Space is super lame.

And I haven't used my Wii to play a Wii game since...hmm. November, maybe? For AC, which was quickly destroyed when I had to wipe my save and sell my second Wii. I'd probably still be playing it if that hadn't happened.
I've used the Wii a lot lately, though, but for Gamecube games.

I saw that last night on GoNintendo. I was floored. I can't believe they ever aired that, even back in the day....

Peanut
03-23-2009, 07:06 PM
None at all, which is a bit of a problem. They do this for the "hardcore" the price it at a point the hardcore know is going to be bullsh*t. It won't sell as much as their casual junk, then we'll get "We made games for the hardcore and it didn't sell!" and we get more casual junk.
We can't win.
Either we spend $60 on a remake of a game without gameplay upgrades, or we continue to get nothing.
ThirdMarioBro
03-23-2009, 08:49 PM
What they've done is failed to see that their half-assed approach to products works for casuals (who will be running to the iPhone for handheld games later this year when the big Summer push comes), but it doesn't work for us. When the game doesn't sell (halfway thanks to the fact that they won't promote it at all), because as you said, its looking like a downloadable product with a retail price, they'll blame us and then promote the inevitable Wii port of Nintendogs which will sell like gangbusters.
I've more or less made peace with the fact that Nintendo is essentially done with us. Anybody who doesn't see it by now is living in dreamland. All the B-list franchises are being filed away. We'll continue to get our Mario and Zelda titles until Miyamoto retires (which I doubt is as far out as we all like to think), at which point Nintendo will farm those out too. That will be the point at which I say goodbye for keeps. Until then, I'll continue to pay the proverbial congical visit to my Wii every five or six months with the acknowledgment that I get my kicks from the other two consoles now.
Hell, I'm skipping the DSi. I own every single piece of Nintendo hardware--all upgrades, revisions, Game & Watches, and Virtual Boy included.
R-iZZy
03-24-2009, 03:28 AM
I didn't really see a point in getting the DSi in the first place. A DSLite with a camera, whoopty-f***in'-doo. It doesn't even have a GBA slot, so it's really just a downgrade for the uninformed casuals to eat up.
Well, there have been rumors of a potential VC for the DSi, which I guess would be pretty cool. It's sort of a "buy it if you don't have the others" kind of thing, I suppose.
Barkworm
03-24-2009, 08:45 AM
I'm pretty sure the new Wario Ware isn't fully playable on a regular DS so the "buy it if you don't have the others" logic doesn't completely work here.
Dr. Doom
03-24-2009, 09:35 AM
The big thing I've been pitching to people about the DSi at work is the addition of a shop channel and virtual console.
ThirdMarioBro
03-24-2009, 09:45 PM
Well, the Virtual "Portable" seems to support GB, GBC, GBA (which is why we lost the slot, but I digress) and potentially Game Gear support. If that's successful, it could lead to Lynx and Neo Geo Pocket. Mostly a bunch of sh*t, but there's a few classics mixed in there. I kept hearing that there will be no third party Game Boy titles on the service, but the possibility of Game Gear kind of negates that report.
Still, I can do all of that on the Pandora I have on pre-order. If this thing is supposed to be the Game Boy Color of the DS line, then I need to see some damn games worth the $170.

Guess it was only a matter of time until we lose this franchise to the casual players. But I guess I shouldn't expect much hardcore type gameplay from a handheld, anyway. Either way, this looks kinda bad.

So... um... better SD card support, anyone? I'm glad this is in the pipeline, because I just looked at my Wii's space last night and realized I had only about 900 blocks left.
ThirdMarioBro
03-25-2009, 02:13 PM
Yep. We just lost Zelda to the casuals, at least as far as handhelds are concerned. Phantom Hourglass held zero appeal for me. It was Zelda formula, sure, but the whole thing had been so stripped down. Touch-screen only? Seriously? They are so dropping buttons from their next handheld. The game was limited, dumbed down, and the cel-shading looked like garbage on the hardware. Its clearly no better here. I'll hold out a little hope for the unseen Wii game, but since the Wii and the DS are more or less joined at the hip, I assume we're going to get reamed there as well.
Things between me and Nintendo seem to be closing out pretty quickly. Glad I already made peace with it.

I hope we get to say "ALL ABOARD!" into the DS microphone before our choo-choo pulls out of the station!
Also, has anyone noticed all of the voice samples popping up in Punch-Out!? That seems like a good thing for Nintendo to finally be getting into. I was just watching some cam footage of a Von Kaiser fight, and he kept calling for his mommy and stuff. And when the round ended, Doc told Mac he was gonna get him a chocolate bar or something. Kinda cool to hear actual voices in a Nintendo game.

Well, SD support has finally been added to the Wii. You get 20 pages by default (room for over 200 games), and it will load pretty much anything you've already got. The update does break the Twilight Hack, but if you've already got the Homebrew Channel it doesn't really matter (works fine btw) and there's already a new exploit in the pipeline. Just don't move your HBC to the SD card because you can't move it back. Plus arcade games will now also be coming to the Wii Shop.
That was my biggest complaint about the Wii hardware. Moving all my 100+ VC/WiiWare titles to the SD card now, and moving all the channels back to the system memory. Full functionality FTW!

Yeah, a riot started night before last over this. Reggie lied on Tecmo about not bringing it to the US (when it's already in English), and Tecmo decided to dick whip the bastard instead of take the fall for Nintendo's complete disinterest in the core market. Racial slurs were flying on all the fansites last night. While it may not have been the final straw for some fans (that came for me some time ago), Nintendo just killed off a lot more fans with that move. E3 is going to blow hard chunks for Wii owners.

Well, I picked up a DS Lite after it launched. At that time, my sister kept telling me that I should wait because they would inevitably drop another model in the future, but that washed out front lit screen on the DS Phat was getting on my nerves (even though the Phat's buttons were far superior). I wanted a back-lit LCD. The Lite is a nice piece of hardware, but that glossy finish looks really trashy in the hands of people who sweat a lot like myself. Either way, it's served me well.
My sis stuck with her Phat to wait for something better. She picked up a DSi yesterday. I played around with it some. The screen is nicer, though the size difference is really marginal. The built in camera toys are sort of like Game Boy Camera, but with all the fun Nintendo in-jokes and quirky humor stripped out. Still fun for about 10 minutes though. Mp3 player is worthless without mp3 support. I heard they might offer that through the store though at a later date. It's also got a matte finish, so no more smearing. It does have one really nice perk though. The D-Pad/buttons are raised and shaped like the Lite's, but have that "Clickly" response of the DS Phat. They're really nice...not $170 nice, but still comfortable and probably the best D-Pad to date.
Really, I don't see much reason to get one. When Game Boy Color hit, there was software to make it worth the jump. There's nothing on DSWare worth a damn, and Wii Ware has taught me there probably won't ever be.

How the f*ck can you say EBA was a "rape" of the Ouendan soundtrack? They were entirely different games! They didn't just take Ouendan, drop the Jpop for western pop and call it a day. As a huge Nintendo fanboy, I figure that should be something you'd know.
Also, there's like 4 "actual" songs in Rhythm Heaven and considering the fact they last 20-30 seconds, that shouldn't be too painful for your otaku-f*g ears.

It's funny that Nintendo has replicated the very industry downturn they once so highly prided themselves on reversing: a crash. Atari crashed the market by flooding the market with simple-minded sh*t. Nintendo has done something similar on a smaller scale. While this isn't even close to that, Nintendo has brought about what we will probably know in the future as the "video game recession". Millions of people bought the Wii as a toy, but those folks don't buy games.
Nintendo has a massive fad audience. Judging the steady decline in active Nintendo fans from the GameCube days, I'd say about 15 million of those Wii units are owned by Nintendo fans/real gamers (a large lot of which were probably resold later after Brawl/Mario Kart came out) and the rest are fad buys. Those people don't buy new games because they bought it as a toy. The real test is if any of those fad buyers will pick up Wii Sports Resort, and I doubt the results will even come close to anything they sold since Wii Play. Third party filler titles bombing is one thing, but when/if Wii Sports Resort fails to capture the interest of this imaginary install base, the real fallout will begin. Nintendo's install base is artificial and temporary. When they fall, they're going to fall hard, and what's left of the fanbase they pissed on won't be enough to support them.
The only thing they could do in such a situation would be to fall back on the handheld market, per usual. But that's not such a sure bet anymore. The DS is on it's third iteration, there's 30 million iPhones out there that play [sh*tty] games, and Sony is going to relaunch the PSP at E3, probably fixing most of the brand's issues. Nintendo had better hope the DS's eventual successor is a freaking slam dunk or they're in deep sh*t.
Remember, what happens in Japan usually happens here about a year later. Nintendo's got about 7 months. E3 better freaking rule, but all I expect is Nintendogs Wii (with the Obama dog obsession, it's almost a given) and maybe one pity title for the base that won't be enough to keep the rest of them from leaving.

Just Nintendo's legal departments being dicks. I mean, Honda is a common name in Japan. May as well change E. Honda's name too if the legal belief is that Honda car corporation will sue everybody with that name. Morons.

http://wii.kombo.com/article.php?artid=14373
Now officially my most anticipated game.
Best Miyamoto interview in years
http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2009/06/shigeru-miyamoto-interview/
That was a very candid interview. Its nice to hear Miyamoto talk honestly about things without a PR person there to shut him up.
Also, having the same director on Galaxy 2 makes me smile. It was him who hinted before that the only reason he included Bowser Jr. (who I fu*king hate) in SMG was because he was in New SMB. Well, he's out and the Koopa Kids are back. So maybe........eh?

Chris Kohler never fails to deliver. Pretty good interview, but I don't like how the talk about getting even less story in Mario Galaxy 2. The barely was any there to begin with and if anything I would have appreciated a bit more story. Can't he just incorporate a darn cutscene skipping option so the game doesn't have to get gimped in certain areas? Put the option in the cutscenes' pause menu, another feature every single game should have. Come on, folks, it's 2009.
I'm glad this article reminded me of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. It'll probably be the game of my summer, and I almost forgot about it.

Funny interview with Shia LeBouf that was supposed to be about the Transformers movie, but branched off into games. lol
What videogames did you like playing growing up?
Mortal Kombat, Doom, Donkey Kong, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario Kart
What's your favorite videogame memory from when you were younger?
I remember playing Mario Kart with my Dad for the first time and this is after years of my Dad just s****ing on videogames. Just like you're a loser. Finally, after playing Mario Kart, my Dad looks over at me and says, "I like playing as the mushroom." That's all he had to say. It's one of those memories you remember for the rest of your life like when your Dad uses a cell phone for the first time or text messages you for the first time. That type of stuff. Yeah, I like playing as the mushroom.
What's the last game that really impressed you?
Sid Meier's Civilization.
You play everything including real-time strategy?
Buddy, I'm a gamer. Not just the fake ones you read about.
What are your thoughts on Activision's new Transformers game?
Just in terms of the variety of choices with the Autobots and Decepticons that you can play, the movie has been infused with a bunch of new faces and the game is the same world. A lot of the updates you have in the movie you have in the game, so it should be a better game.
Have you checked out the Wii Transformers game?
I haven't been able to play the Wii game because my hand is broken. I've just been playing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I would imagine that the Wii experience will be like...I don't mess with the Wii, to be honest with you. It's kind of an amateur console. I'm not into the Wii thing.
What's wrong with the Wii?
This is how in a simple way you can find out if it's a gamer you want to play with. Ask them if they have a Wii. If they say yes, get the f*** out of there.
Is that why you wouldn't play LEGO Star Wars with Megan Fox on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen?
Correct. Who wants to play the Wii version of LEGO Star Wars. I'd rather eat glass.
So I guess you didn't play LEGO Indiana Jones?
The LEGO Indiana Jones I'm not going to speak on, but my feelings aren't very different.
Did you play any videogames on set?
We played Madden.
Who's your team on Madden?
Giants. See, Ramon (Rodriguez) is big into sports games. I'm not necessarily. But to keep it copasetic on set you had to have a game for everybody. So of course there was LEGO Star Wars for Megan, which is fantastic and she could play that in solitude. Ramon loves sports games and I'm into Sid Meier's Civilization. So we had all of it covered. Transformers is a cast of gamers. I'm not the only gamer. Literally, there's nobody in the cast who doesn't play games except maybe (John) Turturro.
What are your thoughts on the fact that kids today not only have the Transformers toys, but these cool videogames to play with?
Toys aren't enough.
Do you wish you had these games when you were a kid?
I did have these as a kid.
But these games today are way better than what you had as a kid?
Yeah, but if you start comparing NBA Jam, for instance, 1998, hot title. And I put that up against Madden 08, I love NBA Jam. I'd take NBA Jam over Madden 08. If you were to ask somebody who grew up with Centipede to put that game up against Sid Meier's Civilization, they'd probably go with Centipede. You don't just enjoy playing the games. I know every theme song to every Super Mario game you can ever think of and I'll sing them to myself. I'll be in the shower and I'm not singing Bryan McKnight or Neil Diamond, I'm singing Mario Bros. songs: dee..dee.dee.dee.dee...deet. I swear to God, man. It's weird. I have this special place in the lexicon of my information that is specifically game. I don't think I'm alone in that. I think there's a whole generation of dudes just like me.
"I'd rather eat glass". lololz.
Ha, Shia's the shiznit. Don't really agree with him on the Wii, though. But meh.

If you're interested in it and enjoyed the previous titles, you should definitely get it, as it's easily the best of the series based solely on the gigantic amount of inclusiveness (I'm sure that are like pro Smash players who still prefer Melee, but whatever). The online leaves something to be desired, but it's still great for playing with your friends and there's a lot of crap to unlock by yourself, including the majority of the game's soundtrack, which by itself is sprawling and wonderful.

Honestly, while I'm positive they're out there, I don't see a lot of Brawl hate in my area from the local tourney tards, which is surprising because they seem to hate every new game that comes out for the stupidest reasons. Everybody switched over the day Brawl was released and never looked back. Of course, I like to drop in some Melee from time to time to remember the days when Peach was completely broken/awesome, but Brawl in general is so much better.
Thanks for the Peach reminder, TMB. I HATED playing against her.

I picked up a Wii just a couple nights ago, so I may be hanging around this thread more often now lol.
I bought it with Zelda on the side, and rented Mario Galaxy.
First of all, I couldn't be happier with Mario Galaxy. It's a total nostalgia trip! Feels like Mario 64 and Super Mario Bro's combined to me....well, plus everything else Mario...but those two the most for some reason. I almost died when I saw my first ghost ship...Music and everything. Gonna pick up this game next week for keeps, I'm loving it.
Zelda has been getting my attention too, and although I've never fully beaten a Zelda game, I've been excited to play this one. Seems to get mixed reviews though...What do you guys think? I only recently aquired the classic green tunic, and I heard it starts slow, but I'm definitely enjoying it so far. Does it get better from here on out? What do you guys think?
I personally enjoyed Twilight Princess, but I'm sure that Peanut and the others will tell you that Wind Waker is much better.
Yeah, the game starts off slow, and you may not be as enthusiastic when playing as Wolf Link.
Those tidbits aside, it does get much better as the game progresses, and the boss battles are top-notch, although a bit on the easy side. All I gotta say is have fun using the Spinner when you reach the Arbiter's Grounds. It's my favorite boss fight, followed by the City in the Sky.
Anything else you want to know about it, just holla.

I can give you everything else (and totally agree on the waggle), but I actually thought the music was some of the best since ALttP. Not better, but still awesome and memorable.
Peanut
06-24-2009, 10:37 AM
But it was almost all entirely composed of themes we had heard before. I'm not saying the music was bad in the least, but what was there we had heard before. Most of it was pulled directly from OoT. The only music I can remember from it, after having played it to 100% completion, was the terrible music that played in the shadow world, and I only remember that because of how awful it was. It was so bad I muted the TV every time I was there.
It's too bad that the music in TP was all MIDI instead of orchestrated. That probably would've helped a little.
But it was almost all entirely composed of themes we had heard before.
Well, isn't that what Nintendo do with most of their series anyway? Remix the main themes and add a new one every other sequel?
poiuytre
06-24-2009, 02:08 PM
The only remixed song I recall was the lost woods one. Overall I preferred Twilight Princess over Wind Waker by a pretty large margin. The only real flaws I had were the slow intro that held your hand too much, the midi quality of music (due to the GCN version I guess), the noise that passed off as music in the Twilight realm and the relatively small number of sidequests. The game was too long to have that little distraction between dungeons. Near the end I felt like I was just hopping directly from one dungeon into the next. (I didn't care for the fishing so I never did it.) The absence of the pictograph box was disappointing as well. It was the best feature of 3D Zeldas for me. :ohwell: Wind Waker on the other hand did have a magnificent finale and, while I might still prefer TP's for now, visual presentation that will age much better.

No? That's actually the exact opposite of what they do.
Look at all the previous Zelda games, they've all had their own standout themes and entirely new compositions. They pull very specific things in here and there, but none of them have ever pulled so directly from previous games as TP did. Almost every song felt like on homage to a previous theme.
Same with Mario. Give me a Mario game where they used even half, or even a quarter of the same themes.

What else can they do the formula of Zelda to keep it fresh without going overboard and forgetting the reasons why it became popular in the first place?I thought Majora's Mask and Wind Waker did a pretty good job of mixing things up while still being distintly Zelda.
You know what else would work? If they actually delivered on the expansive, living world they promised in Twilight Princess (but that we didn't get). A world as immersive as Clock Town, but as big as the Great Sea, with the usual Zelda dungeons thrown in. That could be cool.
Or hell, a setting change would work to. I'd accept Victorian Zelda, or Space Zelda, as long as the gameplay was intact.
"Shake Wiimote to open Treasure Chest" I think I might've enjoyed Twilight Princess a lot more if I'd played it on the Gamecube. Using a Gamecube controller should just be a standard option on all non-gimmick Wii games anyway.
It'd be interesting if they made a modern day Zelda.

Apparently one has to have had signed up months ago, in advance, before they even revealed it was coming out. If you signed up today, you'd have to wait for their next batch of stuff.
Sounds like poor planning on Nintendo's part, to me.

Uh, no? Don't complain about something if you CLEARLY don't understand it. It's a reward for people who've joined Club Nintendo and registered enough games to qualify for platinum status. They've said since the beginning that platinum and gold members would receive a very special gift at the end of the year, and that's one of them. Tough luck for people who never bothered to get involved.
If the Punch-Out thing was an actual disc-based prize, I would have chosen it, but it's a download, so I said forget it and picked the replica Mario hat instead.

It still bugs me. All Club Nintendo has had previous has been crap, so I didn't care. They finally have something I have interest in, and it turns out I had to set up an account months ahead of time in order to get it?

Yes? If you wanted the special award they give out at the end of the year, sign up. It's not like it costs you anything. If you buy a sh*t load of Nintendo games, then it's worth it, anyways. I've already gotten some cool stuff off of them.
That's why it's a reward for people who were dedicated enough to sign-up for it in the first place. You don't get to complain about it if you had no interest in it. I feel like you don't understand the point of there being an awesome reward for people who showed their dedication to it.

Had I known there would have been secret prizes at the end, I would have signed up for it. This was not information that I was relayed when I first inquired Nintendo about it when I first heard it was coming to North America.
There was a promotion years ago when I registered my Gamecube games for a free copy of Double Dash. Never got it. Bombarded Nintendo with e-mails week after week. Called them. Nothing. I just got tired of it and said "screw it", because it's not like I paid anything more than I had intended to in the first place.
And I get to complain all I want. Why? Because I can. It's not like I've created 800 topics on crap like this, so it shouldn't bother you too much. Plus it's been a s***ty day, so my expectations on what is acceptable have gone through the roof.
Nintendo honestly hasn't released enough games worth buying to register, so I probably wouldn't have gotten it anyway. :ohwell:

Why do people always use that as an excuse for saying dumb sh*t? Everyone has crappy days. Go cry about it somewhere else, like the cafe.
And again, if you're pissed about not getting a REWARD from a REWARD PROGRAM you didn't sign up for, it's your own f*cking fault.

Actually, had this program only related to Wii titles, I probably wouldn't be entitled since there aren't enough good Wii titles to justify the reward.
...fortunately, I had a sh*t-ton of backlogged GameCube/DS titles I filled out surveys for. Gimme my Mario hat please. As for Doc Louis, I'll probably pirate it unless they sell it at a later date (which I would suspect).

No, I was mildly irritated that something that I thought should have been in the game since I first heard about it was actually going to happen, but still going to be inaccessible to me. It wasn't until certain people wouldn't stop prodding me about it that I started to lose my cool.

I officially stopped caring about the Punch-Out!! thing at this point. Basically I admitted that I wouldn't have gotten Doc Louis' Punch-Out!! because I don't have enough games either way. It was basically accepting my fate on the subject. Continuing any further is futile.

So I finished Another Code R last night. It's pretty much Hotel Dusk-lite (same developer) in both style and gameplay. It's nothing mindblowing, but it's a sweet and relaxing little game. I enjoyed it a lot, and I recommend it to anyone who liked Hotel Dusk or just wants a nice adventure game for the Wii (the game is not currently available in North America, but there are ways around that).

I've actually been to many arcades, and classic arcade museum places that have Mario Bros swapped with the NES style version. A prime example is the arcade from The King of Kong, Funspot.

Installing the Homebrew Channel and Gecko (The app. needed to play foreign region games) is incredibly easy and safe (You can't brick the console and you can easily remove it if you need to). Look up some tutorials here (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Main_Page) and go for it. It's pretty much idiot-proof.

I got a Wii for Tiffany and myself the other week and some component cables for it. Every time I try to play a VC game the TV switches to "Invalid Signal" mode. I pay extra money for cables and try to play games I paid money for using them and now I can't. Brilliant. I read online there's ways to fix it in certain games but that's a pretty huge error to have.
When I had a Wii, whenever I played VC games I never had this kind of problem. You sure it's not your TV? Of course, I only played games that were a little older, so I dunno if they changed it in some of the newer releases.

I read it's a big issue a lot of people are having. I tried it on "River City Ransom" and "Contra 3". Not sure why I'm assuming it has to do with the console switching signal modes when you play VC games. Either way it worked just fine when we used regular cables. The people online who had issues said you can change the game to play in "Interlace mode" which apparently fixes the problem on some games but not all of them. Also some have patches too. I'm sure they will fix it eventually.

Unfortunately, the Wii really has turned out to be a console for kids, aside from the few classic bones Nintendo throws once or twice a year.

The VC is the biggest single ripoff this generation (and inspired Sony's dropping of BC), not to mention that NOA manages to snuff out any of the good stuff that has come out in Japan. They've got like 30 arcade titles over there, and we've got like what, four? Five? I quit counting, so who knows. Sucks either way. Besides, I challenge anybody to compare anything on WiiWare to Shadow Complex on XBLA.
But the whole backwards compatibility issue is a done deal for me anyway. I just built myself a brand new PC gaming rig. PC titles, Rom emulation, and Blu-Ray home media center all in one. Core i7 3.03Ghz quad core, to be overclocked to about 3.8 when I get my cooler in with twin crossfired 4890 ATI cards. The thing's a monster. Next step: build one of these...

Yeah, of course you did. You totally thought this beautiful 3D title, whose art and presentation essentially make the game, should have been shoved onto a portable device that can't do 3D without looking like complete ass. Right.
And why do people act like the celestial brush didn't work flawlessly in the PS2 version? Was the call-to-arms for more "precision" ever even existent when the f*cking game came out? Let alone actually being needed.
I'd be a little more optimistic if this was going to be a PSP title, but as it's a DS title, I have no interest nor hope in it.

Because even in an aesthetically amazing game like Okami, gameplay still is priority #1 for me. And there was nothing wrong with the controls in the PS2 game, it just seems like a stylus would be more immersive. Then again, that's what folks thought about the Wii version, and apparently that didn't turn out as well as hoped. On the other hand, this will be built from the ground up on the DS, so perhaps it'll be different.
