The Sentry

Since, like azure's pointed out, the New Avengers have decided to put "The Sentry" into their line up....

i wanted to see what we all actually KNOW about this guy. I found a copy of the recent marvel knights trade paper back "THE SENTRY" and gave it a read. However, while it DOES explain his origins and maybe even why most of us haven't heard of him..... the ending of that tpb doesn't really WORK with how he was introduced in the New Avengers.

So.

Does anyone know if there are MORE RECENT Sentry stories out there that EXPLAIN how he goes from "being forced to forget everything b/c his split-personality-thing that can destroy the entire world only manifests when he knows that he's a hero"((<--the end of the trade)) to "knowing who he is and" being in the basement of a high-security prison?

b/c based on the marvel knights book? him using his powers at all means that the world is seriously screwed when his other-half shows up. ((<--badness)) ...so how'd the writers get OUT of that?

It's Bendis, I magine, with what they did to the Avengers....He's gonna use the idea of Sentry's curse to its full advantage.

but how does anyone even KNOW WHO HE IS in New Av? that's PART of it. He SHOULD be a complete unknown... unless some one's been blowing up/destroying stuff that everyone forgot about...

which makes no sense! there HAS to be another book out there between the marvel knights trade and the current continuity.


i would hope. though you could be right... it may just be another ploy to force people who have to know "what the heck were they THINKING?!" to read books.

I haven't read the Sentry TPB, but from the bits and pieces I've read on other forums about the character, it seems like you'e not the only one asking the same question. No one really knows how (and if) Bendis is gonna address that issue. I'm assuming that there will eventually be a large story arc centering around the Sentry to explain all of that...

As for being in the prison, it seems as if Mr. Fantastic was the only one (outside of SHIELD) that knew Sentry was there. How that all fits together, I have no idea.
