Quentin Tarantino is directing the next "Friday the 13th" movie.

March 07, 2005 - IGN FilmForce has learned that none other than Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino is in final negotiations to write and direct the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie, an all new Friday the 13th for New Line.
While the rumor mill had long suggested that the next movie might be Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, that project never came together for a number of reasons.
Fans will instead be treated to the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie. The project will be a co-venture between New Line and Paramount Pictures. It is expected to be a "quickie" that could get underway as early as this year!
Tarantino's production company, A Band Apart, referred us to the William Morris Agency. A rep at WMA would only advise us that Tarantino has "not yet" been offered the job while refusing to elaborate any further.
If there's any (ultra-violent) filmmaker who could make Jason cool and scary again, it'd be the man who resurrected Travolta. I just wonder if the movie will be retitled Kill Jason?

Just read that over at Superhero Hype. I take it with a grain of salt. However...
Can't be as bad as Jason X. Nothing could be as bas as Jason X.

I appears other sites are reporting the news, too. Maybe it's not as I wild as I previously thought..... :o

This could very well be the greatest F13 movie. Hell, even the greatest horror movie of all time. Just think about how it'll do at the box office. :o
I REALLY hope this is ture, even though I highly doubt it.

No I mean Tarantino. I know he's good, but he isn't good enough to bring Jason back from the trainwreck of continuity errors and make him seem scary again, since FVJ, when he turned out to be the good guy.

I disagree. I think if ANYONE can do all that, it's him.

What?? :o They made a movie where Jason was good?
How many Friday the Thirteenth's do they need anyways? 50?

I'd agree if it was Freddy, honestly. But Jason is a lost-****ing-cause.
They're calling it Ultimate Friday the 13th....Is this Marvel comics?

Aside from clothing and appearance, there really AREN'T that many continuity errors between Friday the 13th installments.
And Jason's never been scary. Not since the surprise ending of the first film, anyway. People don't go to Friday the 13th movies to be scared, they go to see Jason kill people.
And Jason, unlike Freddy, is a very sympathetic character. He's retarded, he loves his mom, he just wants to be left alone. Freddy used him at the beginning of the film and Jason's victory at the end was simply his well-earned revenge. And if he was such a "good guy" how come he had the bgger bodycount?
I'd say Jason was the lesser of two evils, which if you know anything about his character, is absolutely true. And Feddy vs Jason went out of it's way to address all matters of continuity and firmly places the film after both Freddy's Dead and Jason Goes to Hell. There are a few errors, at least one major one, but all in all they did an admireable job considering that the average movie goer wasn't going to give a sh*t about continuity.

Q.T doesnt do horror though but I will go see the movie if he is in fact making it. Maybe then it will have real actors in it and a plot!
Hmm...I have real trouble buying into this. In fact I won't believe or even listen to the internet rumors until it goes past "negotiations" and into a contract.

Bloody Disgusting usually doesn't post BS, and if they do its usually labled as "Rumors." So....

Well, the "official" Seed of Chucky movie poster they put up in their news section turned out to be nothing but a poor photoshopping. The crosses were taken from Vampire Hunter D, or crying out loud.
So their just as likely to post BS as any other website.

I Take it you haven't heard of "From Dusk Till Dawn"?
Oh, and BD always posts BS, but the fact that it was posted on another site prior to BD, makes me buy into it a little more. I still highly doubt it's true.

Rumor no more I guess

If it's on Yahoo it has to be offcial
Umm cqb101 QT didnt direct that he just acted in it and did the screenplay. Robert Rodriguez directed it, further more it was hardly a horror movie. More like a action comdey to me. Or dark comdey as they call them

I know. Tarantino and Rodriguez are two of my favorite filmmakers. Obviously if he wrote a screenplay about a horror movie, he does horror. That was my point.
Not to mention Tarantino has said in interviews that he'd always wanted to do a slasher flick. I just always figured it would be something original.

Well maybe he can try on the Jason series first before making his own. That way if he screws up no one is going to care because most people expect Jason films to suck horribly now of days. Even hardcore fans of the series
And I didnt know a screenplay had naything to do with writting so sorry about that

Screenplay=Script
For future reference. :)
And as I said before, if ANYBODY can make the Friday series good again, it's Tarantino. Hell, he's the guy credited with ressurrecting Travolta. And that's quite a feat.

With what QT did with the famous "ear scene" (mainly the directors cut), imagine the gore scenes in this flick...
I think I might take my 2 1/2 year old nephew to see the movie

It's been debunked by QT himself. He said that the studio wanted him to do it, but he didn't. He wants to do an original horror movie.
