They are elite, they are hardcore, they are the SAS. Forget how you thought that the SEALS are the toughest military units on the planet, the SAS tops them.

Well, me not being a friend of the military, reading a book about the army. And even enjoying it... odd, isn't it? It all began when there was a series on BBC Prime called "SAS - are you tough enough?" where ordinary citizens went through the training of the SAS. I then got my hands on this book and thought I could give it a shot since there wasn't a better read around. So I started reading...

The book tells the stories of numerous SAS-members, from training and selection to their missions. For example, they tell us how they fought in the jungle somewhere in Malaysia in 1965. But, the big thing that keeps me fascinated about it is, that it's not one of those "We are the toughest on this earth, we can beat the sh*t out of whoever we want", it sounds more like a report from a summer camp. Lots of emotions and very odd lines ("beautiful, sensible snake").

Amazing. Everybody who is at least a little interested in military and military literature should give this book a try. Very interesting, gripping and well written.
