Does anybody know how to put background music on conforum sites or proboard sites?

Well, I don't know how to do it, but I wouldn't do that if I were you. Music on websites is more annoying than anything. I mean, I am not surfing the new to listen to some music on a site, but I am willing to read info. And music only distracts from reading.

And you think that if you add music that'll scare away people, the visitor numbers will go up? To me, that doesn't make that much sense...

I know how to add music to Xanga but thats about it. Maybe I can dig up the HTML for it or something
And I dont know about you anarky but Ive had luck with adding music. I found a bunch of music fans for bands I like with the music on my xanga and such

You know, thing is, that if I want to listen to music then I want to choose so. I don't want to be overwhelmed by music while trying to read what the muic is supposed to be all about.

But each to his/her own...

Well, if the site offers an option to turn the music off, it shouldn't be too bad.

Hey, or an option that will start the background music on your request, that way, there's no wasted bandwidth either. You could manage it that way:

There's a link on the site that says "Click to turn BG-Sound on (Song by artist)" and when you click that link, a new window will open up, saying that this is the window required to listen, so leave it open. And in that new window you have the background music.

Now this is what you'd have on the index of your page:
<html>
<head>
<title>index</title>
</head><body>
<p><a target="_blank" href="BGS.htm">Click to hear BG-sound</a></p>
</body></html>

and this would be in the popup:
<html><head>
<title>BG sound</title>
<bgsound src="file:///C:/pathtosoundfile" loop="-1">
</head><body>
<p>This window has to be left open if you want the BG-sound to play. Close it
when you want to stop listening.</p></body></html>

Anyway... If you have access to the Headers of your site, here is something that will help you...

Music/Sound

To put music/sound on your board place this code in your headers or footers.

<bgsound src="URL OF MUSIC" loop="X">

X is the number of times you want the sound to loop. Remember to that you can only play sounds that your browser will recognize. I recomend .wav or .mid

And here is a host site that supports sound files...
