Has anyone seen the list? Any thoughts? It's pretty dumb if you ask me, especially the TOP 10.

I was gonna gripe, but I won't. Now don't get me wrong, RE4 is an EXCELLENT game, but I'm never putting anything above SMB3, Ocarina, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, ect. Still, at least they managed to get all the classics on the list and didn't put Halo 2 or GTA at No. 1 which is what i was expecting. Still, at least something that is worthy got on the list. Dosen't matter though. We each have our own lists, and each one is different. That's what matters.

It sickens me to see Devil May Cry surpassed by God Of War, GTA:SA, and Halo <_< Also makes me sad to see that DMC 3 was the game of choice and not the first, and far better, DMC. Oh well with my fan boy rants aside that list is rather sad if you ask me. It just shows how Casual most gamers are. When all 3 GTA games are up there and just about every other video game magazines told you to like. There are some great games mixed in there but their being drowned out by the flavor of the month games. Also, though I like it, I dont adgree that RE 4 should have gotten the top pick. It just proves my theory

I find it a little odd that the Top 10 consist almost entirely of games that were released in the past few months. I'm also having trouble believing Resident Evil 4 was voted over Ocarina of Time. Not saying RE4 is a bad game, but it's been out for like two months, while OoT has seven years worth of die-hard fans.

But hey, what do I know. If they say the 'readers' made that list, who I am to argue.

Well it has Chrono Trigger and A Link to the Past in the TOP 10 so it has got something right...

This may sound conservative but most of those new games don't deserve to be in the TOP 10. There's no such thing as an instant classic IMO, some time has to pass to show how much impact the game will have on gaming in general. THEN it becomes a milestone. As much as I love MGS3 for example, it doesn't deserve to be in the TOP 10. The first one certainly does.
But what am I ranting about about, it's just some list.

I totally agree with that Barkworm. Majority of my own "TOP 10 Games of All Time" list were made nearly or over 10 years ago.

I really don't understand that list at all. I mean what is the deal with the majority of the top 10 (6 games to be exact) being less than 1 year old. Doesn't a game have to have replay value to make the top 10?

Also Super Mario World at 53 is a joke. That game has a permanent spot in my top 10 any day. Although I was glad to see Halo: CE get a slightly higher spot than Halo 2.

Super Mario World was the first game I ever owned personally. I had been playing games since '87 (3 years old) but SMW was my first to own. It'll alway sbe on my top list but SMB3 ranks higher because it was the foundation of platformers and most everything in SMW came from it. Funny how almost every new platformer made for GBA can have it's ass kicked by a 17 year old game.

A game has to have influnced the industry and design of future games and be remembered by millions of fans before it can be considered an immortal classic worthy of the top 10. RE4 and MGS1 deserve to be on the list because they'll always influnce future game design, but not at #1.

Video Game Fans that vote in Magazine polls are idiots.

and RE4 is the game that got me back into gaming recently, I lost hope with all the crappy Mario Parties and Gang Violence so RE4 is up on my list anywhich way but loose

I think RE4 should be on the top ten maybe not first. I mean I never play GameCube but Brodie let me borrow RE4 one time and hell if I didn't play that crap like crazy till he made me give it back. I love the that ChronTrigger is up there. But I think almost all mario games should be in the top 20 like Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64 . Though I haven't played God of War yet is it that good I mean hasn't it only been out a couple months? Madden is a great Choice though I might be one of a few who play it on this board I don't know. But what about like Onimusha 3: Demon Siege that game was sick. The fact that any ESPN sports game is up makes this top 100 bogus. One last thing I don't know about you guys but Diablo 2 makes it in my top 100 definately even my top 50.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Final Fantasy 6 (3 in the US) beating Final Fantasy 7. When 7 first came out, almost every FF fan kept singing its praises as the best FF ever. No one seemed to remember how great FF6 was... The incredible cast of characters, the intriguing plotline, and even the coolest psychotic villain, Kefka. I'm just glad that FF6 still managed to get some recognition, despite its old age.
