My 2 very favorite cartoons.. Samurai Jack and Batman: The Animated series volume 3..

All I know is that the batman volume 3 dvd has the final 28 episodes on the dvd meaning if you get all 3, you will have the entire show on dvd except the movies of course.

Samurai Jack season 2 dvd features some great episodes you shouldn't miss.

Speaking of Samurai jack, the show has ended last year. Darn! This was a great show wasn't it? I loved it!

Work at Suncoast; got em both.

Batman TAS is some of the best television I've ever seen. I missed many of the episodes from the last season (all of the Ra's Al Ghul arc) so this was mostly new material for me.

I didn't decide to pick up Samurai Jack until after I watched my Clone Wars DVD and was blown away. In regards to Samurai Jack, I never really watched when it was on since I worked friday and saturday nights. So I was surprised by just how good this show really was.

All in all, some great DVDs.

Actually, thi season of Justice Leauge is supposed to be the last time we'll ever get to see the Timm/Dini Batman voiced by Kevin Conroy.

Due to legal issues with the new cartoon The Batman and Teen Titans, no characters or DC trademarks featured in those shows can appear on JLU.

Mattel and Warner Bros want to introduce The Batman and Teen Titans to a new generation of kids and "start over", so to speak. Because anime is the new "thing".

Having Batman appear on JLU supposedly "confuses" children, since it isn't the same Batman that appears in The Batman. Same with any Teen Titans characters (like Robin).

That's why no Bat-villains have been seen in JLU, or even the Batmobile for that matter. Timm and Dini managed to convince WB and Mattel to let them use Batman for these last few seasons of JLU to wrap-up some storylines. But after this, he's gone.

And chances are, so is the entire Timm/Dini animated universe we've been watching since the early 90's.

Make way for more ANIME! Yippee!

I've throroughly enjoyed all 3 sets of B:TAS and now I have only the last 2 to watch of volume 3. I'd forgotten how cool this show was. I used to watch it all the time back in '93, but I didn't catch many of the Adventures of Batman and Robin episodes. Hopefully they'll release the revamped B:TAS in a volume 4 since I haven't seen any of those..

Also I had no idea the Justice League show continued the same Batman universe, I should try to catch an episode sometime.

Yeah, the Timm/Dini DC animated Universe is quite sprawling. It includes:

Batman TAS
Superman TAS
The New Batman Adventures
Batman Beyond
Justice League
Static Shock
Justice League Unlimited

The Zeta Project is also in there, but that's something most people would rather forget.

JLU is the culmination of all those shows, grabbing from each series and really showing just how vast the universe has gotten over the years.

Most of those shows I haven't seen but one or two episodes of (besides B:TAS), so hopefully they get released on DVD. I know S:TAS volume 1 is out, never saw many of those. I've heard great things about Batman Beyond, I'm sure it'll get the dvd treatment one day.

By the way, i noticed that Michael Reaves (old tmnt show writer) and Marty Isenberg (new tmnt show writer) wrote many of the B:TAS episodes.

Oh yeah, Michael Reeves has written for a ton of classic cartoons. The guy really gets around.

He wrote for Gargoyles, I believe, and he also wrote some of the BEST episodes of the Real Ghostbusters.

Got volume 3 of of B:TAS, been enjoying it immensely. I'm sure I'll cave sooner or later and get both seasons of Samurai Jack. But the Ra's al Ghul episodes are awesome!

I didn't know that about JLU though. It's going to be a shame.

I believe Reaves wrote some episodes of TMNT in season 2 like "New York's Shiniest".
And I've seen his name for a long time but he actually appears on the Batgirl special feature on the DVD.
It seems like it's time for a Real Ghostbusters dvd, eh? I know that J Michael Stracynzki was a head writer for that show too in the early days.
Gargoyles is another show that i haven't really seen.. gotta pick up the dvd.

Well, in August a new edition of Ghostbusters is coming out on DVD. Basically, it's Ghostbusters 1 and 2 packaged together in a box set with all the same features as the last DVDs, but this set will include a scrapbook and...

2 episodes of the Real Ghostbusters. Don't know what 2 episodes, but if this rerelease sells well it might pave the way for season sets.

The Real Ghostbusters has already hade about 2 or 3 "best of" DVDs released in England. Need to get my hands on those now that I have a region-free player.

Thats cool, it seems like they're doing that lately, including animated series episodes on dvds such as ghostbusters, alf, and the son of the mask. Interesting idea. It might actually happen with the ghostbusters though (seasons), it's happened with almost every other show, so we'll see..for now i'll enjoy my Batman dvds.
