View Full Version : Searching for artist(s) to draw for my story
Leonardo Mystic

Eh, it appears my first thread on this was eaten. Otherwise, I would've revived it. Oh well.
I'm still looking for anyone who would like to draw scenes from my story "Waiting For You." Aska, I know you've done one already, but you're welcome to draw more if you wish to. I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've been meaning to read your fanfic for quite a long time, Leonardo Mystic.
I'll certainly get down to reading it this summer and I'll do some pics for you. :)

Once summer starts I would be glad to help you. I just need to read it first. I need alota time to read kinda hard with people on AIM and MSN demanding I talk to them every 5 seconds a new window opens! Ahh

I'm pretty good at drawin' even though my drawings look cartoony. Are the artists gonna like collabarate so everyone gets a chance to draw and color a scene?

I'd love to draw some pics for your fanfic too... Just needs to find my webcam somewhere in the mess - just moved

Does that mean we post 'em here?... Well, I will anyway :tsmile:
First, Raph being commended by Splinter after the training session.

Second, a sketch of the exhausted Leo and Splinter.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a388/ninja_otter/TroubledLeoSketch.jpg
And last, a colored version from a cooler angle. Slightly different style on Splinter.

Didn't get a chance to read Leonardo Mystic story but gonna print and read them without any bother.
Masked Ninja your art is great!
I like the pictures you drew for the story.
I say my most favorite is the 2nd one but needs color. ;)
then the 3rd one then the 1st one.
Love to have them as wallpaper. :D

The first one is really just a sketch with color slapped on top...because I wanted variety.
If you like the second that much... perhaps I should make a colored version. It was my original idea for that scene, but the third popped out while I was playing around...so I thought I'd keep it as a sketch.
Thanks for your compliments... they make me feel fuzzy inside... :toops:

Those pictures look rad. The colorin' is great and I like the second one even though it wasn't colored. Looks I should read the fanfic and start drawin'. I don't wanna color 'em by hand though. Anyone know how to get the serial number for PhotoShop? Is it on the back of the computer? Where can I find it? I wanna scan my drawings and color 'em with PhotoShop. Help me out with this serial number thing please.

Mine (Photoshop Elements 1.0) came with my tablet, and it came with several stickers with the serial number on it.

I've got at least a few definite ideas still bouncing around in my head, Mystic. I was looking at pictures of family snapshots; I haven't drawn one that I think looks right yet. I've got the rest of that one drawn out. Me slow. :p
*blinks at Masked Ninja's work and sig* Ooh, very nice! Somebody's an animator... :D You've got that nice feeling of spontaneity that an animator should have. I don't think my work is quite to that point yet; mine still looks forced to me sometimes. Nice turnaround in your sig, too! And your redesign of Splinter actually looks like a rat.. ;)

But thank you for your comments. *bows* It's the sort of thing that makes me hope I'm headed in the right direction. And it makes me want to see your arts sometime...
For Splinter, that's what I was going for with the nose at least. (A bit on the ears...) But mostly the redesign was to get rid of those huge eyebrows that come off his face. It's the only part of his new design I don't really like.

Comparing with Splinter right now, I say.......you verison looks better.

But, your verison looks younger but I'm not going against you.

06-22-2005, 11:25 PM
Yeah, he does look a bit younger. But I think that so long as he looks significantly older than the Turtles he should be OK. If I wanted an older version, I guess I could make him scruffier. I believe that's why the "official" Splinter looks as old as he does. And the little beard thing too, perhaps.

You're definitely going in the right direction, Masked Ninja, in my opinion. Not that I'm any authority, having not yet had an actual job animating. ;)
I like Splinter's design in the new show... the teeth bother me, though. I guess they thought rats' really big front teeth looked kinda corny, and I guess it can if you overdo it. But then, since the Turtles have teeth at all, I guess he's allowed to have mutated teeth too. :p
Oh, and clicky my sig to see my Turtles page. Several drawings, and a teeny little animated sequence. And vote while you're there, pleeeeease! :)

Yes! Thanks for reminding me! (I have a sketch I meant to color for this...I s'pose I'll get working...)
Oh, and thanks Aska... *blush* We'll see if my college lets me into the animation program at the end of my freshman year...
And Splinter's teeth? Yeah...they're a bit too carnivorous-looking, but somehow they fit his design...for me at least. I certainly prefer 'em over rodent-looking teeth.

He's absolutly adorable in that pic, Masked Ninja! :tlove: I love how you shaded the muscles to go along with the candle light. And I must say that I love the way that you did Splinter, in the colored one with him and Leo...

Very nice lighting, Masked Ninja! He seems to be leaning a little to one side, though. Something about his left leg being turned outward? Anyway, that's a tiny nitpick. It looks great! :)
Oh, I found the old thread, Mystic:
http://www.thetechnodrome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11353
But I guess I'll repost my drawing here too, just so Masked Ninja won't have all the fun around here.. ;)
Of course, now my sense of nitpicky-ness is irritated that the bruise turned out to be on the left side of her face.. :tgrumble:
http://www.geocities.com/jafarnut/peril.jpg
Also, I assume you know Brinatello did a couple of illustrations? (one I think based on my design, hee hee, I feel special. ;))

Heh. I never could find the original thread. That's why I started this one. Oh well.
I still love that picture, Aska, and it's okay about her face. It's kind of my fault because I didn't specify which side the bruise was until chapter three. *laughs* What it looks like you did is you got the injuries switched. Head gash was on right, bruise was on left, but it's still all good. I look forward to more illustrations you may do.
Yes, I am aware that Brina did those. They are really cute.

Very nice lighting, Masked Ninja! He seems to be leaning a little to one side, though. Something about his left leg being turned outward? Anyway, that's a tiny nitpick. It looks great! :)*squints* Yeah... he does, kinda. It could be the positioning of the leg, but I suppose when I drew it I assumed the other leg's position would compensate and make him stable...so it doesn't look weird to me. However, I think if I changed the shape of the pillow, it would fix that odd "leaning" look. Nice catch, though.
And, I might add, your picture rocks! Leo is nicely on-model with the new series, and your sewer background is simple yet great! I tend to avoid sewer backgrounds because I'm lazy and can never figure out what to put in 'em. Lastly, Alisa herself looks schweet. I'm still learning how to get my humans to the point where I'll show other people. :toops:

So, for the record, Mystic, Alisa's head injury is on which side of her head? (Gotta avoid more nitpick alarms, here ;))

However, I think if I changed the shape of the pillow, it would fix that odd "leaning" look. Nice catch, though. You're right, I think it's the pillow. I can make myself see it with his other leg compensating when I think about it, but I don't think all of his right leg would be on the pillow, so it threw me off a little. I think it's just me, then; I see crooked sometimes. :goof:
Leo is nicely on-model with the new series, and your sewer background is simple yet great! I tend to avoid sewer backgrounds because I'm lazy and can never figure out what to put in 'em. I'm terrible with backgrounds. I struggled a long time to come up with that one. :p After awhile it's like "okay, just draw a long hall and throw some bricks in there and call it a sewer!" ;)
I'm still learning how to get my humans to the point where I'll show other people. :toops: You're probably being too hard on yourself. Judging from your other stuff, I bet they're just fine! :)

I'm terrible with backgrounds. I struggled a long time to come up with that one. :p After awhile it's like "okay, just draw a long hall and throw some bricks in there and call it a sewer!" ;)I hate dealing with drawing straight lines, so sewers give me issues. For some reason they annoy me...maybe just using rulers annoys me, I dunno. At least Photoshop has a shortcut to make straight lines with the brush!

Only a little, I think...my guys look sort of OK; I've been working on 'em. However, my gals truly look terrible. I s'pose I'm weird then, because most of the people I know have troubles drawing the opposite gender. *shrug*
