it was interesting about the results for the August/September poll (for the best episodes in the first 5 TMNT cartoons):

1. Shredder & Splintered (29.5%)
2. Turtle Tracks (24.2%)
3. Enter the Shredder (21.1%)
4. Hot Rodding Teens... (18.9%)
5.A Thing About Rats (6.3%)

while there is not much between them besides a Thing about rats, they are all pretty close. While i can't see any reason not to like any of them, i was however surprised to see that Shredder & Splintered/The Shredder is Splinted came in first. I just wanted to know what people liked most about this ep seeing that it managed to gain the most popularity and voted first place

Well, for me Shredder Is Splintered was the best of 87 because:
1: it was originally the last TMNT episode...
so there's this "final battle" feeling while watching it.
2: Krang's android rocks.
3: The Technodrome being sucked to Dimension X was a great way to finish the series... It got kinda repetitive in Shredder Triumphant episode.
4: The battle between Shredder and Splinter was awesome.
5: The introduction of the Turtle Blimp.

yes they are some very good points there. I also felt the kinda "final battle" fealing too. And i love it when shredder and splinter face each other.

Is it just me or does the TMNT remind you of Star Wars in a very weird way?. Because when you look at it,

*you have splinter, a wise master just like obi-wan.
*You have shredder who has a mask over his face just like Darth Vader
*You have the Technodrome which is exactly like the death star but is mobile.
... i could go on forever

i didn't mean to get side tracked but when Lord Vega said "The battle between Shredder and Splinter was awesome" it just reminded me about star wars. Even where they attacked one another, the background looked the same as when Obi-wan and Darth Vader attacked one another........but anyway. **** i have written this far, i might as well write a book

"Enter the Shredder" could be the name of a Hentai. Think about it. Or preferrably don't.

To Ratking:
Yes, TMNT sometimes remember me Star Wars in some aspects, the scene when Shredder and Splinter face each other in Shredder Is Splintered episode remembers a lot when Darth Vader kills Obi Wan.
But you want a better scene to compare? See The Big Blow Out episode when Shredder and Splinter fight, just before the turtles arrive, that background remembered a lot The Empire Strikes Back, when Luke is battling his father... even the scene is similar, like Splinter holding himself with one hand on that platform.
Although I like this episode a lot, it has it's mistakes:
1: The side where the hole made by the Neutrinos in the previous episode is wrong.... the original hole was made at the opposite side.
2: The layout of the Technodrome wheels/drills has it's first changes... You can see that when the Foot Soldiers starts to attack the turtles... the place where that "door" is placed is between 2 giant wheels, and if you loot at a original/correct Technodrome draw, you'll see that it doesn't exist...
3: Krang chasing the turtles inside of the Technodrome was ridiculous but very funny, I remember that scene from a movie/cartoon, but I'm not sure it. The problem with this scene is that the Technodrome doesn't has so much high corridors like the portal room...
4: Splinter freeing himself from that eletric cage was too much for me, he used his nail to remove the screws of that metal plate at the roof... Ah, c'mon!
5: What happened with the weapons of Krang's android? You see that his hand turns into a scissors when Krang wakes up and free himself from the "operation table", the same happens when it turns into a communicator, so he could use more weapons, like his so famous "Optic Blasts" (like Cyclops from X-Men) that he uses in the games.
6: It was the first time we see Dimension X, well, I really never understood why everything was floating... even when the Technodrome goes to Dimension X it seems to be coming down very slowly and a little bit inclinated, but inside of it, Krang and Shredder are standing normally....

Even with those problems, the animation is great, as it's the art.
I think that the only stupid/bad art-looking Technodrome from the 87 season was in Hot Rodding Teens, when the Neutrinos break the outside shell of the Technodrome. It isn't good.

plain and simple, trying to cope with the fact that shredder was acting nice, even though it really wasnt him, but it was interesting to see him that way

IMHO, the best episode of any cartoon series is always the one where the origin of the main characters is described. In this case, it is "Turtle Tracks".

The second episode showing how Bebop and Rocksteady became mutants is also worth watching. BTW, the first five episodes were assembled into one full-length cartoon (in Russia it was called "TMNT: Adventures Begin", I don't know about other countries). To my mind, it is very convenient (especially for impatient people who want to know the ending ).
