Just a thought, since this is one of my favorite videogame series.
What do you suppose the sequel's storyline would be about?
The way I see it, ninjas are basically about honor, death, loyalty, commitment, and sacrifice. And all of that's been done the the first game.
To avoid being repetitive(Even though I'd gladly accept it if it happens in the sequel, I'm just playing it safe for the sake of other opinions), what could be the features of the second storyline?
I think that Ryu should definately return and have some new members of the Hayabusa Clan, since they've all been massacred. His father Joe/Ken Hayabusa should definitely have a major role in the story, perhaps dealing with the training in the mountains he went through in the first game. Rachel COULD probably return, but I think she was just a one game character. However, with the right direction, she could make a more major impact than she did in the first.
Ayane should have a bigger role as well besides giving out advice. Perhaps Ryu's best friend Hayate from Dead Or Alive could make a cameo appearance, but I'm willing to bet there could be the possibility of 2-player cooperative action. There's nothing better than two Ninja buddies kicking demon butt side by side. But you'd have to earn it, just so it could go with the story.
Off the record, I hope there will be some chances to fight without your weapon. Hmm, anything's possible.
