:sweatdro: he's not a herm! And i'm guessing he was brown because that's how he was in the comics or something (remember tmnt the hyperstone heist, well in that game it lets you switch colors between comic and cartoon, and i think comic don is brown like the figure)

if you look at the series 1 figures, you can see that
mikey has a darker green,

don is a brownish grey,
and leo is just green

You know, Michaelangelo was pretty tame in the Archie comics, and he even went through some trauma that made him mature somewhat (i.e. the whole "Blindsight" plot) so I'm hoping they go with that personality in the new show.

Are you dumb? Mikey has never gone through a show with his tongue out like that, those pics are just illustrating the turtle's personality for the younger generation that wants to get into it. They even said Mike will show his true athletics in the new show, which is great! Liking Don cause no one likes him isn't much of a reason at all. I don't see where you get how Mike is the most popular when I am like the only one who likes him the best in this whole site! nah... mikey really was alll jokes, and the bo kicks major shell!!! I love that bo. I'm still a little heated off the cancellation of the CGI project (even though that's old old old news). I DLed that 5 minute clip for nothing!!!
But anyway, that bo has to be the best weapon (and the most powerful in the first NES game). The nunchuks are cool to flaunt around with and show off how well coordinated you are with them. But a bo is what gets the job done.
R-iZZy
12-12-2002, 08:01 AM

Are you dumb? Mikey has never gone through a show with his tongue out like that, those pics are just illustrating the turtle's personality for the younger generation that wants to get into it. They even said Mike will show his true athletics in the new show, which is great!
I sincerely hope you are right. I really do hope those images are just caricatures or exaggerations of the characters' personalities (such as Mike's 'free spirit' and 'pure heart'). I do hope they portray Mike's full physical prowess, because he is probably the most talented warrior of the bunch......
Well i was just saying it *would* look stupid if mikey would stick his tongue out every fricking episode, but i'm not saying that could happen, since they will base it in the mirage comics they will make mike more serious...i hope.
Ditto.
And well, in the old toon he did seemed to be all 'joke and stupid' that might be why i like him the least.
Yes, the old cartoon series truly did butcher Mike's character.....
Nunchucks own bo's...
No, not necessarily.....
nah... mikey really was alll jokes
I'd have to agree with that one. The Mike of the old cartoon had absolutely no depth or richness as a character. Then again..... none of them did, they were all cliched stereotypes. But, at least Leo and Don were somewhat true to their comic book personalities......
But anyway, that bo has to be the best weapon (and the most powerful in the first NES game). The nunchuks are cool to flaunt around with and show off how well coordinated you are with them. But a bo is what gets the job done.
Just because Donatello had the strongest normal attack in the original tmnt video game does NOT mean the bo staff is superior to the other weapons. Remember, it was a video game. You seem to think the weapon matters here, when it is the person using the weapon that matters. Any weapon is only as impressive as the person wielding it.
In actuality, however, the nunchaku is probably superior to the bo staff in most occasions. The chucks are lighter, more compact/concealable, and they are far more flexible (making it more adaptable to the movements of an opponent). The most obvious advantage however, is the chain-propelled momentum of the chucks. They can cause far more damage in a less amount of space than a bo staff can.
The bo staff's only real advantage over the nunchakus are superior length, and it is easier to use and master. Of course, a kusari-fundo or manriki-gusari is even better than the chucks.....
what also makes it better is that don has the brains to use his bo as calculative as he can. Mike is more of a free-spirit and spontaneous in a way. Who knows what stuff he does with a nunchuk when he's not thinking.
Actually, Mike's 'no mind' (mushin in Japanese), flowing, free, spontaneous movements would make him a far BETTER warrior than Donatello, chucks or not. Survival in the street or field is about flow and adaptation, NOT 'form' and 'calculation'. The 'brains' that you speak of would be a hindrance to self-protection in most cases.....
So i'm not the only one who thinks bos own nunchuks and mike was all jokes...
Well the bo thing is more of a personal opinion than anything...but face it, mike was always joking in the old toon and at some point it got annoying.
Oh yes, I agree. Even though Mike was my favorite character in the toon, upon retrospection I do find some of his antics quite annoying.....

Ok, just gotta point out...I meant if Mike used nunchucks against Don's Bo, Mike would win, he is so much stronger and he seriously knows how to use his weapon in battle.....only few times he is clumsy
Although Mike is physically stronger than Don, what would be the real test of power would be who has greater flowing taijutsu natural movement (that's what lets little Asian dudes send muscular guys flying with a two inch punch), and sorry, Mike has Donny beat. Mike also has greater adaptive flow and his mind is closer to 'no mind', a serious advantage in battle.
A wonder why they took out the nunchucks, they were too powerful, hah!
Because parents deemed them to be 'too violent'.
Yea, and that was a video game, they made the bo the strongest weapon easily, only because of its length...sheesh I hope they make a new game where there is a fight mode, I will own you with Mike....
Yeah, we'll see about that.....
In real Life, Strongest weapon has to be katanas. Or maybe Sai's but Katanas have more range.
Hmmm..... it depends on how much force is behind the attacks. Honestly, the katana has the most POTENTIAL to do damage if there is some real good taijutsu driving it. The nunchakus are far more flexible and adaptive weapons however, and were mostly designed to easily disarm a swordsman. The sai is nowhere near as powerful as either, but it is also a good anti-sword or anti-staff weapon.
Karpo_007
12-13-2002, 11:05 AM
Well Leo has Skill in using Katana's, and can probably take a foot soldier with them than Mike with nunchakus. Well Of course it also Depends on opponents weapon of choise and the situation...
heretic888
12-13-2002, 11:08 AM
Mike probably has greater physical ability than Leo does, but considering the nunchaku was meant to defeat the sword he would have a serious tactical advantage regardless.......
Karpo_007
12-13-2002, 11:12 AM
Stillin comics you see Leo Finishing more foot than Mike. Of course it depends on writers etc. It's kind of neat to see Mike strangle a Foot soldier with his nunchaku.
heretic888
12-13-2002, 11:15 AM
doesnt Mike take on 3 foot at once that had him surrounded..... and dodge all of them like it's breathing?? one even tried to suprise him... didnt work though.
and didnt Mike, who was injured.... managed to beat up quite a bunch of gunmen when they were transported to that other planet??
of course, it really depends on the writer.... and mike is often writers' least favorite character and gets on the brunt of a lot of battles.
Karpo_007
12-13-2002, 11:18 AM
Yeah. Still I usually don't wonder who fights the best or takes out more foot, It all depends on writers.
Tokka-B
12-13-2002, 01:26 PM
Yea, I agree....but it also dpends on the turtle's mood.....if Mike is like "awww do we HAVE to...I want pizza" then he probably won't fight as well...
Perfect example is in Leonardo lightens up, that was funny seeing Leonardo acting all goofy for once... and because of that, he wasn't in the mood, and Splinter "outskated" him, LOL...still have that episode.. :o

So I really don't get why you think that the new show will be any different from non-fighting....especially in todays world with so much more precautions and lawsuits...sheesh! But what occured to me the other day, was that the 90's was just full of politically correct themes. Like recycling, peace not war, save the whales, save the ozone, feed the hungry, help the poor, etc. So the parents were prolly more sensitive about violence thent oo.
Nowadays, they seem to have lightened up on the cartoons shows. Instead they are going after the video games and chat rooms on the internet! That's another reason why I'm not worried about the new TMNT show, or why they're letting the producers get away with chuks and stuff agian.

Karpo, do you make your interviews up, come on, show me some, I can't believe just your word...

If you don't want your kids to see any violence, then don't let them see a show about four ninja turtles!

I think the whole problem here is the one freaky factor that warps peoples minds: MONEY!! :o :o
This is because I believe Mirage and 4kids or whoever claims rights to the show and movies thinks that there isn't much of a market for the older/more mature audience. They obviously made TMNT purely for kids, otherwise they would rate their movies higher, had more violence in the cartoon, and not have their shows on at Saturday mornings... Another thing, please don't reply and say "Oh, but the comics were violent blah blah blah, I am talking purely about the cartoons and movies here.
Also, I doubt they thought an older audience would go out and buy action figures for themselves, but then again, I love action figures and would still buy them when I get in my 20s...but that is only a sole few of us....most of the market they think is in kids, which is probably true, and I am glad, cause they wouldn't have had the money to make a new show without that strategy or thinking in mind...
Ah well...

It is possible to make show for all ages. Like Batman TAS or Justice League. It has been confirmed that the TMNT will fight living oponents in the new cartoon. But it is true that we probably wont ever see a movie or tv series comletely true to the original TMNT. That would narrow the audience too much.
But times have changed, nowdays there can be much more violence in a cartoon than in the 80's. Of course there wont be graphical deaths or blood, But there wil be real fights and a real plot. Both wich the old show lacked. That is why I totally trust that this new show will be a good one.

It probably is true that there acn be more violence now, but who are you to blame when Mirage gets sued by an idiotic parent...?

Probably not... But hey, I heard that some fat guy sued Mcdonalds for taking away his health! Anything can happen in the U.S.A!

I can just picture it now - some whiny woman bitches that her 7 year old hit his little sister in the eye with a plastic katana while playing TMNT and the entire neighborhod wants to ban the series for similar situations. :tmad: It was even this way with the low-key violence of the old show!

Yeah I read that article... And it was about the old show! Well Todays paren'ts are much more concerned about sex than violence. I heard that American Pie was rated PG-17 in the states...
They act as if cartoons are the sole reason there is violence in the world. As if before cartoons came along the world was happy and peaceful.

Yeah... Well I have a feeling that we won't be seeing the True nature of TMNT in mass media anytime soon...

LOL, true, only if they rate it like M for mature.. I can see the description:
Rated M for true ninja fighting and real weapons....Argh, sometimes I wish I lived in Finland...LOL

Well I wish I lived in states... I could see the New show from TV, and wouldn't have to worrie about who is going to encode it...

to each his or her own, but the major advantage of living in the United States is there is more political, artistic, and economic OPPORTUNITY here than anywhere else in the world. some people fail to acknowledge that there are Christian fundamentalists EVERYWHERE, not just America....

don't let this turn into a religous battle now
I know I hold no authority here, so I'll ask you: please do not make fun of Christians or bash them. I am one, and proud of it, but I'm not cramming my beliefs down your throat, so don't cram yours down mine.

Thank you, even though I am not Christian, I get very affected by erligious bashers in general...

I don't mean to 'bash' Christianity here, but I was merely commenting on the fact that those 'conservative sanctions' and censors you rant about come from the 'concerns' of Christian fundamentalists. And it is hardly unique to the United States.

Yah.. that is true, that America does built it's belief on God. Or well, it had *cries a sad tear for the new laws passed*
But yes... let's go easy on the politics of life here. I know we're discussing why there is such a thing as censorship on shows, but I have seen many a time how politcs and short tempers can only lead to another flame war.
All the same, I think we beat this dead horse long enough. Yes, life is unfari, but yet we have to live with it. *pulls out lock and key*
