Well, we all know how the other two Donkey Kong Countries wound up on GBA. That had no redeeming features. The beautiful colors and locations were washed out, the wonderfully laid out world maps were gored and kiddizied, stupid scree transitions were added for no reason other than to cheese it up, and the music........sweet Jesus, the music. They raped it beyong belief.

Well, now I hear DKC3 on GBA has had it's entire soundtrack replaced alltogether. Since the original version will wind up on the Nintendo Revolution Download Service (thank heavens), Rare decided to do an original soundtrack tuned to the GBA hardware rather than rape the classic one. I'd ignore the whole thing, except for the fact that David Wise did the soundtrack for the GBA remake.

Regardless of how it turns out, I'll still like th eoriginal version better, and am glad it's comming back next year, but still, dos anyone know what this sucker sound's like? Anybody own the GBA version and can tell me how the music came out?

DKC3 had pretty crappy music so I guess this is a good thing.

DKC3's music was okay. Although I'm glad they decided to make a new soundtrack instead of raping the old one. I still hate you Nintendo/Capcom for putting in Young Link's voice in ALTTP! I REALLY wish there was an option to turn it off.

Why doesn't Nintendo just make their own SNES version of the Sega Nomad? BAM! It would render the GBA obsolete, because then you wouldn't have to buy the same game you own, but with a different main menu.

That what I thought they should've done years ago. I'm pretty sure it was 3rd party, but there was a portable NES system in Japan. Problem is with those is they always have horrible battery life. Also, it won't happen because SNES is out of date and they'll make more money selling remakes.

Actually, I smell a feature like that in the next Game Boy. They gotta try to do something the DS can't to keep the two brands alive and seperate from each other, so why not give the next evolution of the GB Line the ability to play all those NES/SNES games you download off the soon to be Nintendo Revolution Classic download service? THey held out on doing what PSP did in terms of power because the battery life wasn't there yet. New battery technology was just invented to make this possible, so why not? I can see they're going to squeeze at least one more year out of the GBA, so this is a possibility.

Then their entire back catalog would be available not only for download, but also for portable use. It would kill that whole PSP emulation crap. There'd be no reason or use for it.

And I couldn't stand that "Young Link" voice in LttP. Drove me crazy after 20 minutes of it.

How about they start making better games and bigger, better and new franchises?

A mock example of Nintendo's current 'tude:

"MARIO DEFEATS BOWSER IN BOWLING! COMING TO THE GAME CUBE AND THE DS NEXT YEAR!"

or

"Mario fights bowser in space with zero gravity and a space suit in place of FLUDD"

How about something awesome that would totally blow everything away. Sony's doing it. Microsoft is attempting to do it but failing. Nintendo is overmilking everything. The Revolution's not going to be good at all if all they do is recreate pretty much the same games with better graphics.

You have seen the Revolution controler, right? Now tell me... why would Nintendo go through all that trouble, and stress that the next gen isn't about better graphics alone... and then do exactaly what they're setting out to *not* do? And by that logic, PS3 and 360 arn't good at all... because they do exactaly that.

Anyway, as to 'better games' and 'bigger, better, and new franchises'... Ever hear of a little game called Nintendogs? That's not good enough? How about Miyamoto creating an entirely new franchise just for the Revolution? How about Screw Breaker on the GBA? Polarium wasn't original enough?

What about Nintendo *finally* bringing over Fire Emblem? Wario Ware wasn't enough either? Yoshi's Touch & Go was pretty damn innovative, as is the entire concept of the WiFi Connection. But I guess free online gaming just isn't good enough.

I'm with you on Mario not needing to be in every game out there, but would you even look at a Nintendo Soccer title seriously? And what interesting characters could they possibly make for a soccer game that'll stick?

That was as bad as me in the Sony threads, btw. Congrats :D.

The Preceeding has been a paid commercial advertisement for Gwg's Fanboy Rant of the Week. We now return to the DKC3 Music Thread already in progress.

No. PS3 is about technological AND game innovation. If you want to get technical, it runs on open APIs for game development, which is a big step from their close guarded API policy from this generation. Read about it at Wikipedia. Good stuff.

And, to be fair, the development process for the 360 kicks ass, because not only does it make it easier to develop ANY type of game, but it also lessens the cost of doing so, not to mention the timeframe the game making process takes place in. I'm pretty sure they'll be introducing some innovative games along the way...someday...

Nintendogs got old after about 10 minutes. Wow. A puppy simulator. Like a Tamagachi (sp?). Or a Pocket Pikachu, but better graphics and a bit more to do. And I hear it's really doing awesome on the sales charts, right? Wrong.

Miyamoto's creating a new franchise? Amazing. He did Mario and Pikmin, right? Well, at least we know we'll have one new good first-party game for the Revolution.

Yoshi's Touch and Go was kinda lame.

Also, the WiFi connection is nothing special. You can play PSP online. Sure, it isn't centralized, but it's there. Besides, the friend code thing is a terrible idea. Way to screw up a good idea again, Nintendo.

I'm with you on Mario not needing to be in every game out there, but would you even look at a Nintendo Soccer title seriously? And what interesting characters could they possibly make for a soccer game that'll stick?

I don't look at any Nintendo title seriously. Pretty much every game I have for the Cube is third party, and the rest are other games that companies they work with/purchased made, except for a select few games.

That was as bad as me in the Sony threads, btw. Congrats :D.

Not really. I was more civil about it.

Yeah, their new API system is teriffic, if you want to spend 12 million to make a game and wait 4 years for it to come out at twice the price. Plus, without an API to license out, Sony is going to hemeridge money out the ass.

Try 2,000,000 copies there. Yeah, I don't guess that's a lot of sales huh.

If new ideas are wrong, then I guess we should all go back to Breakout and Centipede because every game of the last 20 years was a bad idea.

It's a handheld. We're you expecting Xbox Live in your pocket? I didn't think the DS would be able to carry the bandwidth necessary for stable, reliable online play, but it did, and the maching service works great for quick on again off again handheld play. Want to track yourself against others? Sync your username and email up on the website and you can track your stats globally. DS can't do it any other way because it is a handheld with no form of mass storage. Again, this is not console online folks, and it's not meant to be. For what it is, it's outstanding.

Btw, I've never gotten the PSP's online Wi-Fi mode to work a single time. It's a pain in the ass to set up, and just won't connect, and I've tested it on 23 different networks.

I don't look at any Nintendo title seriously.

Which is why we're having this arguement right here.

Since when did this become another "Nintendo sucks" thread? This was about DKC3's Music, not cooperate crap. If you want to continue this, move it to the other thread right below it.

For the record... Nintendogs is selling phenomenally here in the US and in Europe... oh especially in Europe. I convinced my girlfriend to get into videogames and had her get a DS, but to her dismay she was disappointed when she found out that the pink one she adored was discontinued/sold out... everywhere. Dudes... DSes are selling like hotcakes this season.

I was at Best Buy for 20 minutes and they blew through 20 of them. One of which was me for my little sister.

Yes, it's kicking Xbox 360's ass on it's first birthday.

Got the game. Surfice to say, the Wise man strikes again. It may be an alternate soundtrack to DKC3, but it's more than worthy. A damn fine work if I ever heard one. Seriously, we just got a new DK Country soundtrack from David Wise himself. Unlike those piss poor attempts to sound like him (Jeremy Hughes and the Jungle Beat dev team, I'm looking at you). That's enough to make me happy right there. The SNES game is still better by a long shot, but I'd say this new soundtrack is as good as the original.

As maybe the biggest fan of the DKC music, this is a happy day for me.

Hmm - are there any samples of this new music in the net? :| I heart SNES DKC soundtrack and I'm quite curious how David Wise re-arranged it this time.

Speaking of DKC music - has anyone ever listened to that Kong in Concert (http://dkcproject.ocremix.org/) thing? I wonder whether I should bother to download it or not.

I have personally listened to the Kong in Concert music, and I'll say it is some of the best remix music I have ever heard. Absoultely outstanding.
