Bigfoot spotted in Malaysia

Bigfoot fever is gripping Malaysia, with local newspapers and the official news agency reporting sightings of a huge ape in southern rainforests.

In one reported sighting, an indigenous man claimed he saw a 10-feet-tall (300-cm-tall) ape standing on two legs beside a river in heavy rainforest in Johor state, the director of the state's national-parks service told Reuters on Sunday.

"He said it was hairy all over, like a gorilla," said Hashim Yusoff, director of Johor National Parks Corp.

Hashim took and a group of park rangers and journalists into the Sungai Madek forest reserve last week in four-wheel-drive vehicles to ask indigenous people in the area about the reported sightings.

He said he was keeping an open mind and wanted to enlist scientists to prove whether the beast was fact or fantasy. "We are collecting a database on the sightings," he added.

Hashim denied he was staging a publicity stunt to lure more visitors to the area. But with latest remake of the movie "King Kong" and bigfoot-spotting almost an industry in itself, there are bound to be suspicions.

"No way. If there's any suggestion that we are using this one to get publicity, it's not true," Hashim said.

The Malayasian press is enjoying the story, running headlines like "Rangers on the trail of Bigfoot" and "Villagers' close encounter with Bigfoot."

One newspaper published a picture of a large but vague impression in mud, calling it a footprint.

Maybe they would say the same thing when you told them about a car. Or a Super Mario Game. You can't call people primitive, just because they don't live according to the western standard. And worshipping a god plus church or fifty gods plus statues... there's no real difference. Besides, it's a very, very low blow.

Anyhow, this is very interesting, cryptozoology in general is very interesting. Although it is highly unlikely that a 3m tall monkey is jumping around without being noticed for years (an animal that big isn't born that size), there's other creatures whose existence I doubt far less. Let's take the Chupacabra for example.

Bigfoot may exist or may have existed, but the fact that bigfoot and similar creatures are spotted so seldom implies that it is not a nomerous species. And the chances for a species with so few members to actually survive and reproduce over this length of time without multiplying are small.

If bigfoot is walking around in the woods somewhere, he's got to be one inbred bugger.

Unless of course they live in small "packs" and one of them goes out to search for food, water and whatnot. The others stay at some safe place and wait for their mate to return. That's why you never see more than one at the same time.

That could be... And, of course i do really cross my fingers for its existance, how cool wouldn't that be... But what'd bee REALLY cool to see alive is the Lestodon armatus, the giant sloth. 6 metres long. It'd kick ass.:D

Exactly. Cryptozoology is facinating to me. You know, we just found a new species of animal. I wouldn't doubt anything's existence. There's always a possibility out there. Maybe these Bigfoot are smarter than we are (which would not be very surprising to me. Heh.)

Technically... the hoax that was admitted to was merely that one video. Not the Bigfoot as a whole.

The Yawi Yahoo is the Australian veriaty which is much smaller than the regular version. Just ignore the Scooby Doo movie that has Yawi Yahoo as Australian vampires. :roll: Or the Scooby Doo movie that shows a Chupacabra that looks more like a Big Foot. :P

The Sasquatch, found here in the good ole Pacific Northwest, is so well known that the breeding season is known. They migrate north every September from Grey's Harbour (where they live the most of the year). The Seattle Sonic's mascot is a Sasquatch. *L* I have never seen any Bigfoots or loch ness monster type creatures...but I DO wanna go to Lake Cowachin just to see if I can spot Ogopogo(a loch ness monster type creature on Victoria Island)

I DO believe there is something there...and if I had a scanner I'd scan a picture I once took of rather large footprints. I took the picture about 12 years ago in Utah near Mirror Lake.

There's an island in the Puget Sound that my dad and step-brother often go to. Supposadly this island is home to a large clan of Sasquatch/Big Foot. My dad and step-brother have camped out on the island, which has a deep forest, and heard many strange noises.

Other veriaties of Bigfoot are:
Alma - found in Mongolia and resemble Cromagnon...one Alma was named Zama and reportadly had children with a regular human.

Barmanou - The Bigfoot of Afghanastan and Pakistan. *waits for American Soldiers to start spotting em*... :P

Ebu Gogo - A similar creature from the Flores Islands of Indonesia. Scientists recently discovered remains of what they now call Flores Man or Hobbits.

Orang Pendak - A similar creature from Sumatra in Indonesia. Small like the Yowie and possably related to the Flores Man/Hobbit.

Nguoi Rung - Vietnam's Bigfoot

Skunk Ape - Florida's Bigfoot. Some think they're Orangutans who escaped from airports or from captivity.

Woodwose - Medieval Europe's Bigfoot. Basically the Green Man (remember the TMNT ep?)

Rap's Girl pointed out just what i was going to say. Large bipedal apes are claimed to be seen all around the world, and because of that i cant say it doesent exist. Cryptozoology fascinates me, i must admit, but i also think that if we find out about this all the fun would be gone. the world's best left with some mysteries. I am not a religious person, but i still think that we need beliefs and something to question.

Me either. :D But a 3m animal can't hide too well behind bushes and in tree tops, that thing's friggin' huge. Unless they're a bit chameleon-like, but that would be highly unlikely due to all the hair (which can't change colour "just like that").

are you talking about paul freeman? He maintained up until he died that he really did see, and videotape bigfoot. is there a link saying he admitted to it being a hoax?
