The 10+ year development cycle is *finally* over with, apparently, and the games ready for release.

when?

APRIL 20TH of THIS YEAR. In a matter of *months* we'll have a sequel to Earthbound.

this had BETTER come out over here. Damnit.

It had better have some decent graphics this time. I'm sure Earthbound was a great game, but I'm not spending €50 on this if it still looks like it was drawn by a 5-year old.

Didn't they announce a sequel to Earthbound several years ago, not to mention provide screenshots and such, and not release it? I think I remember that.

No. Nothing has been seen of this game for years, besides "Mother 3... comming soon." At the end of the Mother 1&2 pak's commercial in Japan.

And Mecha... I don't think they could get away with a diffrent graphic style. You beat up on hippies and rabid dogs, for chrissake. Making it look any more realistic would just make it seem unprobable. This goes back to Miyamoto's ideal of the realistic hand passing through something it shoulden't. It destroys the entire perception of something, which weakens the design.

I'm just saying the screenshots I've seen looked sloppy and basically, bad. I expect a little more from a GBA game. It has nothing to do with style.

Smoothing it out would ruin the feel the series has going on... it was supposed to look weird, like someone just popped open Paint and started doodling.

I'm just happy the game's FINALLY comming out. It could look worse then A Boy and His Blob and I'd still play it.

They did indeed. It was supposed to be developed for the nintnedo 64 but they stopped. Apprently I belive they are using the story for earthbound 64 and putting it in the gba one.

With this news, I bet Nintnedo will release it in north america. They might even bring earthbound the gba one that japan got for us north americans.

Don't get me wrong, I have both a GBA and DS, but the DS has so much more capabilities... including wifi if necessary.

Nice! I hate to admit that I've never played the first Earthbound, but I'd liek to sometime...

Anyways, what is Mother? Was Earthbound Mother 2? If so, what is Mother 1?

Japan got Mother, then Mother 2. We got Mother 2 renamed Earthbound. No idea why, just what happend. TMB knows more, I'm sure.

The first mother has been translated by a group of people like some did for tales of phantasia for teh snes.

i have the rom and it's called Earthbound zero.

PM for it..

It's actually not that bad. it's look weak due to the graphics but this will give u ideas of waht the first mother was like.

Uh ok but you are taking it way too seriously. i am discussing about the first one. There is no way to get it offical here in north america so people have to play it unofficial by getting a rom and a patch and play it translated.. please don't take it seriously and warn me.

I am not giving the rom to nobody.

I am just talking about the first mother game..

well I didn't. I am not mad. I didn't realize it. Basically there is no way to play the first mother game unless you know japanese.

Why can't people play games that are in japan and people in north america translated them (not the developers) but people who do the work like fansubbing, etc.

Is it really that bad? These people spend hours and days working on making the game english friendly for poeple who always wanted to know why the game was popular in japan.

Yeah it's a rule because apparently roms and emulators are "illegal" due to copyright infrigement and the fact that you're playing games obtained through "illegal" means instead of buying the game and the system.

Why though? I think they're great for introducing older games to a new generation. A friend at college gave me *censored word* for Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana 1 and 2, and FF6, and I bow to him everyday. I would have never been able to play these amazing games if not for him. I don't have a SNES, and probably would have never been able to find a SNES and these games. *censored word* would have been my only means of playing them.

Anyways, back to topic. I'm looking forward to this game. I've never played Mother 1 or 2. I wonder if the games are related to each other or if I can play 3 without having played 1 or 2?

It's not a rule we made. It's a rule Krang's sever has with him. So we have to stop all discussions of ROMs. Especially links to ROMs. I think Zophar.net is the only emulation site we can really link to, 'cause they don't have any illiegal roms on their site.

But other than that, Chrono Trigger and FF 6 were released on Playstation as well, and you can still buy them in some stores. PLus, FF6 is coming out for Gameboy Advance...

So arguing with us about it, won't do any good. We'd let links to ROM sites be posted if we could. We just simply can't.

Exactly. The rule is not there because of some kind of personal grudge against ROMs, it's there because we're not allowed to link to copyrighted material (due to our host's TOS, and almost any other host's TOS for that matter). You can discuss emulators all you want on the forums, and you can even discuss ISO patches, just as long as you don't link to sites that host ROMs or discuss in detail where to get them.

ok I understand. i should have just said they have translated it and not ask for people to PM. Nobody has so dont' worry about it.

If anyone does, i'll simply say no.

I understand the rule now thank you krang and otehrs.. I just wanted to state that you can play teh first mother. that is all. I am saying no more about it..
