Any album or artist you want to recommend?

Ok, ill start with:

http://img286.imageshack.us/img286/776/fzosfa3rh.jpg

Frank Zappa and the mothers of invention - One size fits all.

One of Zappas finest moments. Hilarious lyrics, fantastic complex music and lots of great vocals by George Duke.
Starts of with the majestetic "Inca Roads" and ending with the superb "Sofa nr 2", this has to be an all time classic, and unforgettable music, by some of the greatest musiscian from the 70s.

Highlights of the record, not an easy pic, but ill go with "Florentine Pogen".

Shine - Cyndi Lauper

It came out in 2001 (in Japan), but had no promotion, no marketing, no hype. Her record label went under blocking the immediate US release, and the Twin Towers burned causing her to not release it in the US at all under another label. The only place that got the full album was Japan. It's one of her greatest works, with each song being completely different and unique in it's own way.

1. "Shine" (Cyndi Lauper, William Wittman)
2. "It's Hard To Be Me" (Lauper, Rob Hyman, Wittman)
3. "Madonna Whore" (Lauper, Wittman)
4. "Wide Open" (Lauper, Jan Pulsford)
5. "Rather Be With You" (Lauper, Doc Fleming, Marcello Nines)
6. "Who Let In The Rain" (Lauper, Allee Willis)
7. "Comfort You" (Lauper, Pulsford)
8. "Eventually" (Lauper, Ryuichi Sakamoto)
9. "Valentino" (aka "Waiting For Valentino") (Lauper, Pulsford)
10. "This Kind Of Love" (Lauper, Nines)
11. "Higher Plane" (Lauper, Pulsford)
12. "Water's Edge" (Lauper, Hyman)
13. "I Miss My Baby" (Lauper, Pulsford)

The first three tracks are brilliant. Six is a rehash of the final song on her 1993 album "Hat Full of Stars". Still a brilliant song though. Everything else ranges from great to awesome, ecept track 12. The acoustic version on her latest album is MUCH better by many degrees.

Overall, a wonderful work and highly recomended.

Utada Hikaru - ULTRA BLUE

Track Listing:

1. This Is Love
2. Keep Tryin'
3. BLUE
4. Nichiyou no Asa (日曜の朝; Sunday Morning)
5. Making Love
6. Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro (誰かの願いが叶うころ; When Someone's Wish Comes True)
7. COLORS
8. One Night Magic feat. Yamada Masashi
9. Kairo (海路; Sea Route)
10. WINGS
11. Be My Last
12. Eclipse (Interlude)
13. Passion

This is Utada Hikaru's newest album, that came out a week or so ago. I had it preordered for months, and couldn't wait for it. My anticipation wasn't in vain. The theme of the album is a spiritual searching for her true self. A few albums back, she was straight up R&B, but now she has matured and is searching for her own style. Personally, I find this album to be a masterpiece. I play it in the car over and over.

I also recommend any of her older albums. Every album released by her was Album of the Year in Japan.

Yeah, I know, but it was a stripped down EP. The full album was never released outside of Japan. For that, you've gotta' import.

I guess I'll start with this one

http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/465/childrenofbodomtokyowarhearts1.jpg

1. Intro
2. Silent Night, Bodom Night
3. Lake Bodom
4. Warheart
5. Bed Of Razors
6. War of Razors
7. Deadnight Warrior
8. Hatebreeder
9. Touch Like Angel Of Death
10. Downfall
11. Towards Dead End

This CD is Children of Bodom's live performance at it's best. It has excellent sound quality and the crowd is mixed in perfectly as to where their not to quite and not annoyingly loud. I wish more live albums had this well of a mix. The track listing is amazing as well. Picking only the best songs off their first two albums. The added solos and guitar parts to the songs make them a pleasure to listen to.

The track "War Of Razors" is a nice stand out where Alexi and the keyboardist have a solo showdown. Other stand outs are "Downfall" and "Towards Dead End", two of my favorite songs, which sound amazing live. The engery is felt when listening to this. It's rare a live CD can catch that.

1. 2BFREE
2. READY?
3. WAIT TILL I CAN DREAM
4. FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU
5. WANNA BE YOUR IDOL
6. GOTHIC PINK
7. SWEAR
8. LOST MY PIECES
9. GIMME ALL OF YOUR LOVE !!
10. LCDD
11. HEY MY FRIEND

Tommy heavenly6's self titled "debut" album. Lot's of different styles covered, "Wait 'till I can dream" (her first single) seems to have a Smashing Pumpkins influence as where "Swear" sounds like a mix of styles between L7 and Juliana Hatfield.

Definetley not the album for people who care about what others think of their taste in music, nor is it for people who only listen to one type of music and stick to it... It's very varried. And very remincent of mid 90's american alt rock.

06-28-2006, 07:45 PM
Have you by chance listened to Tommy heavenly6's newest (not newest now, but close) single, "I'm Gonna SCREAM+?" It's awesome. The video is so weird, too.

GK Punk

Yeah, I LOVE that song. "Pray" Is also pretty good, but "I'm Gonna SCREAM+" just has to be one of my favorites. I just wish I knew what the hell was going on in the video

The Busters - Evolution Pop

I guess the tracklist won't help you much to know what the band and album are like. The Busters are a ska band from Germany who founded in 1987. Their last album, Evolution Pop, came out in 2005.
They play mostly fast dancing music, though some songs are really slow and jazz-like.

First of all, let me state I live under a rock, so I miss a lot. Anyways, I was watching Dancing With the Stars' results show Wednesday and these guys popped up. I went out and got their album the next morning. It's now my favourite album of the past several years. Seriously, it's fu**ed up. It's like what you got if Disco had kept going into the 80's, and you gay the hell out of it. Hell, track 3 is completely fu*ked up to an extreme. Favourite track is track 1, I don't Feel Like Dancing. Seriously, I don't know quite how to describe it to you. Just go out and get it, or download it to try it out or something. It's awesome, kicking, hardcore, gay as a RuPaul Christmas special, and completely fu*ked up. I love it.

Congrats on discovering Scissor Sisters TMB, they've been pretty big around here, at least out at clubs and such.

My new recomendation: Avenue Q soundtrack.

Hilarity ensues when some warped person decided to make a broadway musical based on those childrens puppet shows... Song topics go anywhere from life sucking, having a useless college education, racism, ect.

Most people have already heard one song from this though. The Internet is for Porn, put to into a World of Warcraft setting, has been going around the net for a long time now. The rest of the album is just as, if not, better then this song. Classic.

If you can find a copy pick it up.

Today I bought the album and I am absolutely happy with it. Its mix from rap and ska is so felicitous. While it has its calm and relaxing parts, especially the fast rap beats really shine in that album. It makes for very good dancing music, but also is fine for background music though I would suggest hearing it in a more aware way.
