I was able to to rip the .flv file from IGN and converted it to MP4. Its the clearest quality so far so i hope it ties everyone over til apple.com gets it.

*gasp* Thanks! Hopefully the HD version will come online soon.
...I've just gone through it frame-by-frame, and done some screenshots.

Raph is getting thrown back by that gorilla thing. Looks to be pretty high up in a building, based on the BG in that last frame.

What do we have here... Leo vs. Raph?

And I know this probably shouldn't be possible, but Raph looks so cool here. :D

Why is it that so many people like this scene with Raph being flung around like a rag doll?

Well, I posted it because before we had frame-by-frame, I wasn't sure exactly what was hitting Raph. But now we know. :)
(I do like his face in the last frame, though, haha)

Warhorse, it's not so much that we like Raph getting beat, it's the way the scene flows (well at least that's what I like about it). The monster throws Raph, his bandana waves over his face, he attempts to get his sais, and he apparently crashes but instead we see a Leo fighting Raph shot.
Edit: The rapidshare file originally posted, can that go on my PSP. Will it read that?

Trying to download any video clip from IGN gives you the same login issue. It's far from an isolated incident.

That's Bigfoot. At least, that's what they call the toys.

I actually like my version better than the .mov released. Seems just as clear but the one i posted is larger.
As for if it works on PSP, I dunno. I know it works on my iPod Video. So if that means anything...

Wow, thanks for posting the quicktime one, it looks much better! Has me a lot more hyped for the movie...if that makes sense. It's great to know that theres a lot more detail hidden down there!

Okay, now no one can deny this movie has the most phenominal animation of any CGI film in a long while.

Honestly, seeing as it was more of a lesser-known company doing all the cg animation for this movie I didnt have super high hopes for the quality, but these screens and trailers are certainly proving me wrong. But I'm not much of a Computer animation buff. Someone who knows this stuff real well...what are your opinions on how it stacks up to recent cg work?

I think it's very top-notch.
You can't compare all CGI though. It depends on the type. Final Fantasy Advent Children for instance is trying to imitate real life, the TMNT movie isn't. It's more "toon" based
The best looking CGI cartoon I've seen to date is Monster House. As for imitating real life, I still say It's Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

Sometimes people also confuse "animation" with "look" or "style." Take, for example, Fast Forward. I've heard people say "Ugh, the animation is so ugly!" when they really mean they dislike the angular style. (I didn't like the actual animation in the first few episodes either, but I can't judge beyond that because I haven't seen them.)
So about this...? It looks extremely nice. A little computery here and there, but then again, it's not going for realism... so no worries. It's mostly a couple textures now and again that seem too smooth. The animation probably isn't the best I've seen (so far, the running rat in the Ratatouille trailer has impressed me the most), but it's darn good and definitely holds its own. I saw a couple minutes of Hoodwinked in my film class this semester, and it honestly looked like a student film. Heck, OUR student films generally look better and we're not an art college. The animation of TMNT already blows that crap away with ease, and we've only seen the trailer.
I'll admit I was also worried at a little-known company doing the movie, but no more. This thing is going to look great, at least.

Yeah but thing about Monster house is they used mo-cap, TMNT didn't, so there are gonna be differences. But I'd give the edge to TMNT, because more effort was put into it, and it shows.

In the HD version of the teaser you can really see the details of this animation. The shells, their skin, it all looks fabulous.
I didn't notice with the other versions of the trailer but with the quicktime trailer you can make out the stubble on Casey's face. I can't wait until the DVD release of this.

But I'd give the edge to TMNT, because more effort was put into it, and it shows.Yeah, I'm very against mo-cap. If you can do it in live-action, do it in live-action. It looks like crud in animation if it's digitally "traced" - too stiff. The models looked good in Monster House, but I haven't actually seen it yet. Probably because Polar Express creeped me out so much. (Gollum from Two Towers did look good, but I'll bet that's either tweaked mo-cap or Andy Serkis was just that good at being animated. :P)
It's why I'm glad they're taking the look of the Turtles in a whole new direction. To simply imitate the live action turtles would be stupid, and we've been told the cost to do the animatronics well would be too much. Give me amazing physics-defying TMNT - I want to see some animation! :)

I think motion capture makes it more realistic. I don't see how it's "creepy"

But it's like what MN just said, if they want to make it so realistic, then they should just make it live action. If theyre not gonna bother putting in the effort to animate it, then don't make in an animated movie.

TMTWBR, I don't think that logic can be applied to movies like "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children". Ever seen it? You'll know what I mean.

I have seen it. Pretty damn impressive, but I just don't like motion capture being used in animated films. It cheapens it. At least for me.

Mo-cap is cool for some films like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children or Appleseed, but there are a lot of time where it does suck.
