View Full Version : Did you ever want to kill your parents when they got rid of

My mom almost wiped out my whole collection. I wanted to take a Katana and slice her head off, but now I am rebuilding it. All I had left after she was done was my road ready splinter, undercover don, backflippin Leo, and cartwheelin don.

I feel for you. I went ballistic on my mom because she hid my Raphael plushie doll. Then she played keep away with my new comic. If she ever threw away any of my Turtle stuff, there would be no doubt I would kill her. Or at least severely hurt her.

I did find my Giant Raph just last week, nothing else though. What I want is the window cling plushies so I can show off my love for the turtles while cruising in my pickup.

I think there's some rule in the Parenting Handbook that says they have to throw out something of yours that is either personally important, or turns out to be worth lots of money.

Kali
02-10-2002, 07:38 PM
True, but is it really safe to do so when you know for a fact that your daughter has a severe Raph-like temper, a loose grip on sanity, and has already put a hole in the wall?

Heh heh! I'm glad my parents didn't throw out any of my old TMNT stuff. My most prized possession is my Pizza Shooter. Now playing with that was fun! *Laughs histerically, as he remembers launching a few pizzas at his unsuspecting cousins*

Skeletoncrew
02-10-2002, 07:40 PM
Nope. Personally I don't believe its right to throw anyone's stuff out. But then, I have major privacy issues and hate having my things handled by others.

Kali
02-10-2002, 07:42 PM
I was never into collecting as a kid, so I didn't have much stuff to throw away. But NOW, no one touches my stuff.

My mom now knows I am a collector of whatever I want. She calls me a childish fool for loving the turtles for my age. I'm just 16 and have loved them since I was 5. I love having ebay helping me get the tmnt goods.

Skeletoncrew
02-10-2002, 07:50 PM
Hey, I'm 23 and I love the Turtles! Don't let anyone tell you you can't have fun just because you're over 10 years old!

Kali
02-10-2002, 07:52 PM
Yes, remember, the original comics were for teens and adults.

Skeletoncrew
02-10-2002, 07:54 PM
And besides, lots of adults do "kid stuff"! Model railroads, remote controlled stuff, baseball cards, beanie babies, etc, etc, etc...

Fortunately my parents never got rid of my stuff, but I have reached the point where I have been getting rid of some things on my own. *Mutters to self* Stupid little apartment...

I fully agree with you. I don't care what anybody says about me lovin the turtles, I'm a turtleholic, always have been, always will be.

Kali
02-10-2002, 08:09 PM
Turtleholic? There's one for the "What are TMNT fans called?" thread.

SPEEd

I might not have all my stuff, but I got the TMNT in my heart.

Skeletoncrew
02-21-2002, 07:40 PM
Hmmm...Turtleholics...

"Hello. My name is Skeletoncrew and I...*sob*...am...*sniff*...a...turtleholic!"

Kali
02-21-2002, 07:43 PM
*pats Skeletoncrew's shoulder* There's nothing wrong with that. Now being a Turtle-hentai...

Skeletoncrew
02-21-2002, 07:47 PM
Whoo hoo! Turtle Hentai!!!

*plop* *splash*

Don't mind the noises, that was just my mind falling into the gutter.

Forget the gutter, come join us in the sewer.

Kali

Yeah, we're BELOW the gutter! Fear our hormones!

How can they have such power?!

Now just a minute! You already pounced me in one of the other threads! I'm not about to let that happen twice!

Oh man, it wasn't funny when these events happened earlier, Skeletoncrew! Kali went mad, I tell ya, mad!

Skeletoncrew
02-22-2002, 12:57 AM
Don't worry I'll protect you!

*evil laughter*

Maybe.

Heh heh heh...catfight!

Funny thing is it is the other way round for me. I went through a dark period where I 'forgot' about the Turtles for a while. I gave my whole collection, including the Mirage books and my Acrhie comics to my ex-boyfriends brother. When my mum found out she went mad! I have now been ordered to hunt round thrift stores, jumble sales and car boot sales to reclam my collection. Whe I find an item my mum puts it in a box and puts it away.

My mum is convinced that this is where our fortune lies.

Nikki.

Wow. That is unusual. Um, don't let her get her hopes up too much. Collectibles are a notoriously unstable market. Collect what you love, not what you think will be worth $.

azure turtle
02-22-2002, 01:17 AM
This is true. Collecting should never be about the money. Collect what you love and what makes you happy. Heck, I don't think my rock collection will get me enough money to buy stamps.

*looks at Skeletoncrew*
Woah, now wait a minute...who's side are you on???

Skeletoncrew
02-22-2002, 01:35 AM
Whose side of what?

I am merely stating the truth about collectibles. Its a notoriously unstable market. Look at what happened to beanie babies. That craze is dead already. They may come back in 20 years, but how many people are gonna hold their collections that long, just in case?

azure turtle
02-22-2002, 01:43 AM
LOL! No no, I was responding to this comment!

Don't worry I'll protect you!

*evil laughter*

Maybe.

Heh heh heh...catfight!

Skeletoncrew

Ahh...well, I'm on my own side.

azure turtle

Oh man, I'm cornered!
*slowly backs away from Skeletoncrew*

HorseTechie

*clears thraot - goes back on subject*

I'm cursed, cause it's totally the opposite with my mom... I'm 26 and I still have all the stuff I had when I was a kid. The thing is... my mom's an obsessive pack rat. She HATES throwing stuff away! It totally drives my dad nuts at times. Even when I tried to throw meaningless freebie happy meal toys or well worn clothes out (when I used to live with them) she'd go out of the way to save the stuff. *sai*

Now you may carry on... carry on...

Kali
02-22-2002, 11:01 AM
LOL! I had to scroll up because I totally forgot what the topic was!

I went through a phrase were I sorta put TMNT on the back burner too. Like after the cartoon ended, and they didn't really have any new stuff. But with all the stuff that's happening now I think I'll be sticking around for awhile.

HorseTechie
02-22-2002, 12:58 PM
heh.. yeah, I also did that too. After I graduated from highschool in 1993, when the Mirage comics went caput, the cartoon was dwindling, and TMNT3 was sort of frightening... my fandom completely faded away during my colleg days.

Then I graduated, discoverd Image comics, the cyber fans, and TNM... and my fandom came back in full force. I think it's here to stay now. ~:]

azure turtle
02-22-2002, 03:51 PM
Hmm...I agree. I lost interest in the TMNT during my high school years, and it recently got sparked again while I was surfing the web. I discovered the official site, and I was shocked that the TMNT were still around. After going through the site, I felt all kinds of nostalgia and decided, heck, I'm TMNT for life! And now, I've found the Technodrome.....and that's the story of my life.

HorseTechie
02-22-2002, 05:26 PM
Cyber TMNT is soo addicting!

Skeletoncrew
02-22-2002, 05:32 PM
Absolutely! Its nice to be able to come out of the sewer and admit that I'm an adult who loves TMNT! I was always kind of embarrassed because it was a "kid thing".

azure turtle
02-22-2002, 05:41 PM
Yep! I'm definitely not ashamed to tell anyone at college that I'm a TMNT fan. Anyone who visits me finds out sooner or later, once they notice the picture of the fab four that I taped to my wall

Skeletoncrew
02-22-2002, 05:45 PM
Oh dear. I now have an image of the turtles dressed as the Beatles...matching haircuts and all.

*dashes to living room for a Beatles CD*

*Singing "Ahhh look at all the lonely people.."*

HorseTechie
02-22-2002, 06:34 PM
Dang... slow down ya young whipper snappers! I'm barely keeping up!

But yeah, there's another Beatles/Turtles fan who's made the cross.... or a Monkeys fan.. and I did it with U2 even!

azure turtle
02-22-2002, 06:37 PM
LOL! C'mon, HorseTechie, you ain't old yet!

Hmm, I dunno 'bout this whole crossover thing. It's kinda weird, no?

Skeletoncrew
02-22-2002, 06:57 PM
Yes, it is weird. But then, so are we.

azure turtle
02-22-2002, 07:00 PM
