i think the artstyle is amazing, and they're my favorite incarnation of the turtles yet. :D

This topic will probably get moved to the movie section, but I gotta say I really like the new designs, they actually look like teenagers...probably not my favorite tmnt design....well...maybe after I see them in motion.

Physically, they look great. With I designs like this, the animation will definatley flow really smoothly.
And they look like teenagers.

At first i was bummed to hear that it was going to be CGI instead of live action. It would really be fun to see another live-action turtle movie. And still would. But this CGI stuff is starting to grow on me. Judging from the commercials, I think it'll be a good flick. I think that some of the older audience, those in their 20s and 30s that were kids when TMNT first started, might not see the flick b/c of the lack of shredder. But who knows. Hopefully they'll give it a shot. If it does well, I'm sure there will be another. And I'm hoping it will stimulate more watchers for the show so they'll continue making new episodes, though I want the turtles to return home and stay away from the fast fowards stuff.
The only thing is though, is I saw a commercial with splinter talking and it just didn't sound like splinter to me. Plus, he looks kind of like a lama. But maybe it's just me.

i think splinter looks cool enough.... different, but cool. Maybe a little more cuddly than before. But yeah his voice is unsettling.

yeah splinters look and voice are a little off but its begining to grow on me. i think the commercial where he was like its time to return to the surface made me like it more

in short....nothing
i love the look, splinters voice took a little bit to get used to since its so different from the other incarnations, but it sounds good now, and sure it will be even better in the movie, but it is its own carnation, and is great in its own right

I freaking love their look. I love how their big arms and feet give them that teenaged look, as if they are still growing into their bodies. I love how while each turtle shares a clear resembalance to each other they don't look completly alike, right down to their eye colors and over all body shape. I love that they are built like gymnasts, giving off the vibe that they are freakishly agile and strong.

When I first saw the new Ninja Turtles I thought that they could have looked bigger and more mean looking, but i totally like the new style of turtles! They look great!

Ok. I know that they are teenagers and all, but didn't Kevin Monroe state that they are gonna be around the 18 or 19 age range? So wouldn't that mean they would have gotten past that awkward stage?:ohwell:

haha thats what I just got done kinda saying in another thread Warhorse. I love the new design, but if this is about them coming together again after having drifted apart, and it takes place after the first couple movies, why dont they look a little older? Still look reallly good though, so I'll try not to complain.

i like the dark tone of the movie and the nimble acrobatic moves which the turtles do. they seem more "ninjaesque" in this movie. :) only thing i wasn't to big a fan of was that the turtles were a little smaller in size than usually portrayed.

Where did Kevin say 18 or 19 :o
Must have missed that!
I was picturing them around 17.
They were only 15 in the first movie and Leo's been away at least a year since then. Give them a year for other adventures (TMNT3 if you want, TMNT2 was immediately after TMNT1 so it wouldn't alter the timing) then a year to drift apart and they should be about 17 in the new film.

He said it in the Front Lines thread. Although to be more exact I believe he said that they never settled on a specific age for the Turtles, he just pictured them to be 18/19.
As for the Turtle designs, they really caught me off guard at first, because they're quite different from any design we've seen before, but now I am absolutely in love with the designs. I love the more lean/less bulky look that doesn't make them look any less likely to be able to kick your ass. Easily one of my favorite looks for the Turtles.

i think the new design of the turtles is outstanding. it's very unique, and i find it refreshing to see them in a new style.

I didn't really like the new design at first (especially those first images?! echh) but it's since grown on me. I like the buff gritty comic-book styled Turtles, but slimmer Turtles do make so much more sense for acrobatics. I'd actually been playing with a new drawing style before the first trailer came out, with the same big feet and thick wrists... just with more muscle. I've since slimmed it down because I love the new movie design so much. I still prefer to draw my heads in a more Eastman/Lawson-type style, but my favorite body type to draw is new movie all the way. :tpizza:

i remember thinking a few years ago how i wished they would do a cgi turtles movie because of what they can create with computers these days and i couldnt be happier with the design, of the turtles especially. i think they will move very well on screen and when people actually get to see the finished film i think the cgi vs. live action debate will end.

From the previews, I don't like splinters voice. It really bugs me. Other than animation and voices, it's too early to tell.

I love Mako's voice, I'm just not used to hearing Splinter with that gravelly of a voice. The interviews with the directors indicate they're pleased with the overall result, so I suppose it's another one of those "go in with an open mind" things.
I'm a little biased toward Mako though, because I love Iroh in Avatar. Whatever are they going to do with his character without Mako?

Voice Actor Greg Baldwin is taking over the role of Iroh.

I like the designs, but the knee joints and upper legs could have been a bit bigger.
It looks a bit odd that their knee pads are smaller than their elbow ones.
As for Mako, at first I wasn't too sure if his voice suited Splinter, but I'm getting used to it.
I think the problem is that Splinter looks too cute, it would be better if he looked a bit more like movie one Splinter, the voice might seem more at home there.

Thanks for that, I found the quote you mentioned.
I think 18 is a good age (don't know why but 19 seems a little too old for me, maybe it won't after seeing the movie).
So the rough timeline would be;
TMNT1 - Age 15
Leo travelling Age 17/18
TMNT 4 - Age 18
If you want to expand that timeline TMNT2 would be immediately after TMNT1 whilst they were still 15 and TMNT3 probably happened when they were around 16. I'm inclined to include them since they won't be contradicted (though any future sequels may over rule this)

hmmm Im not to keen on the character designs in general...and I dont like the fact that april is a fighter- april kind of gave the turtles a special context that I liked in the live actions.
the lighting and animation look cool though and I like the turtles voices.
Honestly? with a bigger budget I would have like to have seen CGI versions of the live action counterparts, as they were always my fave visual interpretaion.
