View Full Version : Ok I have to Bring This Up.......

It's bothering allot and I want to get it off my chest.
When I first saw the clips for the new movie at comicon last year in sandiego I was super excited for the new movie.
But with the lack of anything going on advertising wise for the turtles besides merch.
And my lack of enthusiasm for CGI films in the first place.
I'm now at this odd stage of finding myself not excited about the new movie.
I don't know really I want to like it and be excited but it sort of looks boring to me also.
And now with the news of Shredder being in the next one after this I've become even more irritated.
I wish they would just leave well enough alone personally.
All in all I'm feeling like a bad fan because like I said I'm not hyped over this film at all.
Peter's blatent dissrepect for his and his creations past sort of also bothers me he's becoming like the next George lucus in my opinion and it sort of bothers me also. Oh Well.
Is Anyone else feeling this way as well or am I the only one?:ohwell:

Well, no one's said Shredder is going to be in the next movie (IF there even is a next movie). Kevin M. has dropped hints along those lines, but he's said as much that the haven't even really thought about what to do with a possible sequel. This movie sets it up so that the next movie can deal with the Foot Clan. If that involves Shredder, I would expect it to be more figurative than a resurection of the dead. Kevin has also made it pretty clear that Shredder IS dead.
I also wouldn't let your feelings about Peter interfere with how you feel about this movie. I have had to come to terms with my own personal feelings about Peter and it was not an easy thing for me to do. But the key element that has me SO excited about this movie that it looks to get everything right that just went SO wrong in volume 4 of the comics.
My issue with CGI movies is that, with the exception of the Pixar movies, they all seem to forget that you actually do need a good story to tell. I'm not worried about that with this movie.
But with all that said, there's no rule that you have to be excited. Fandom comes and fandom goes; there's no requirement that you love everything.

*sigh* thanks Rose I'm just down about tmnt in gernal I guess and I guess the movies paying for it I'm sure I'll get excited when I'm there waiting for it to start with my family.
And I really Pray Shredder stays away for a good long time.
I agree I need to come to terms with my anger at Peter for what he's been doing and is doing. I mean it's fine for him to like what he does but to discard allot from the past just seems so wrong to me..but maybe because up till this point I've loved everything tmnt even the image comics series.
I also love the dark side of tmnt but I think thats what orignally made the comics so special they were like this dark hidden side of tmnt while we had the wacky toys and cartoon.
I think by making everything this way it's sort of ruined allot of what was tmnt's charm. But what the heck do I know lol.
I think this all also has to do with why I'm selling my entire 80's-90's MIB figure collection.
With all the fights I get into over having my opinion on here to dissapointment in volume 4, real life issues and the such I think it's all made me step back a bit from the world of tmnt and really not like it so much.
I used to fight the useless battle and try and make people understand I'm just not some idiot who likes whatever and the things others don't but I really do like the things I like and for reasons all my own and have been hated for it.
This is pretty much everything that's been going on in my mind for some time now and it's busting loose and wanted to be shared with tmnt fans alike be they friends or foes.:ohwell:

Some advice dude. Come March 23, just forget everything and watch the movie. Pick it apart later. But just empty your head and remeber what exited you the most about this movie back at Comic Con.
I can see where you coming from, you're not a bad fan, your a normal one. Fans complain, it's what we do. And it's the creators job to block most of it out and keeping on going. I see things from more of a creator's standpoint, being one myself, and thats why I have no problem with Laird changing what he sees fit. But I doubt they'd be so drastic as to completley ruin things.
PL will never be like George Lucas. The Purple Dragons will never shoot first. PL respects his property, even the old show. He has never once said he hated the show, unlike Lucas who's stated that he considered Empire the worst of the trilogy.
As for Shredder, well, nothings confirmed, but with all the demand for ol' tin grin by people unfamiliar with his lack of appearences in the comics, you gotta figure there will be some pressure put on Kevin to include him in the future.
And if you think about it, a fully rendered CGI TMNT vs Shredder fight doesn't sound that bad. It could end up being more intense then the fight that the end of the first movie. But I get what your saying, don't mess with a good thing. But also remeber, TMNT 2 had a bridge fall on him, no fight at all, so I kinda want some compensation.
But to conclude, just enjoy the film for what it is. Forget about everything but that footage you saw at the con that got you hyped in the first place.

"Every three thousand years the stars align, unleashing an army of monsters."
The plot is the one thing I am worried about for this movie. I want to bring my friends but I'm worried the high sci-fi element (even for the TMNT) will ruin it for them.

I understand what you mean, and I don't like too much sci-fi in my TMNT either, but I've read the book and I liked how it all balanced out.

I think you just all need to relax a bit. Seriously. It's TMNT, not your $10,000 loan from the mob that'll end up with you having broken knees and one less eye if you don't pay it by the 23rd.
So how about everybody tries to relax and possibly enjoy themselves?

I was flipping through the channels and landed on the WB I left it on as I hooked up my new computer monitor, and after that wrestling show went to commercial break, the trailer for turtles aired. Prime Time and in wrestling (which still amazes me that anyone still watches that junk) too boot. Not all that shabby.
It's a slow start, but they are hitting the big prime time guns like wrestling and American Idol, so not bad..

I agree. Let's face it, the plot is well.... absurd. But hopefully they do it right and it's still an enjoyable film.
My hopes are still high.

Remember the sci-fi is just the sideplot. The one that appeals more to the kids. The real story is the reuniting of the family.

Don't put the blame on me just because you're feeling guilty for having your own opinion about Peter Laird's creative decisions and for not being so pumped about the new movie that you literally shot out the roof due to your own pizza-farts.
You came for others' opinions and I gave my opinion. You have to remember that you came to this site called the Technodrome where us TMNT fans come to give our opinions on things but end up having to deal with people who have double-standards and think that if an opinion opposes their own then it means that they're being told not to have an opinion.

Well, I too must admit, it doesnt seem like "everything I hoped for and more"..due mostly to "the monsters plot" and the fact that isnt PG-13, as I dreamed of..
But I do like how they moved on from Shredder. I really do think they should try new things, and different villians..of course, I am against Bebop and Rocksteady or Krang, because for some reason, which is even a mystery for me, in a universe where four walking talking turtles exist, even a talking alien brain is pushing it!
I also love the animation I've seen so far. I honestly don't think the live action turtles could work anymore. It does perfectly back in 1990. I think maybe the only it could work is if the JIm Henson returned for the first time since the second film, or if they art people behind Pan's Labyrinth took over. But either way, personally, I think the CGI turtles look amazing in action. I'll even go as far to defend the human character designs.

dude what the hell lol I'm fine and I may not like peters idea to change the past dump tokka and rahzar out of the story and a bunch of other crap as well but thats my opinion on it you can enjoy him ripping apart the past but I'm not gonna and you know what it's all good.
No idea really why you're getting all bent out of shape...people are honestly ripping at me because of one things I wrote..I mean should I go change the past now to and take out what I said about him doing this I mean cause it is the same thing after all. And it wasn't even the main thing I was talking about.
I wanted to talk about it not see how you feel about me and my opinions.
And saying Relax to some one is hardly good advice...it's like when a mans going to shoot some one you tell them to relax..no you try and talk to them and under stand why they wanna do it. Same goes here just wanted to talk about this stuff and I'm not blaming any one nore do I feel guilty for how I feel.

Yeah I agree with you on allot of what you said the big thing I'm happy about most is that shredder is not in this film and I love kevin monroe all the more for it.
I may be fans of the old toon but I'm glad they left those characters out as well and yes the henson company would have to do it or the people behind pan's which is an amazing movie btw! would have to do it if it was to be done correctly.
I'm not mad about the cgi I just don't love it so much as seeing real people even if they are animatronic costumes or puppets...It's just what I grew up with and it will allways be allot more real to me than a cartoon.

Hey Putrescent I think the rolling of the eyes set Goonga off. He was trying to help you find the silver lining in this dark cloud of yours where the TMNT are concerned, and your response to him (and me as well, come to think of it) seemed just a little insulting.
Hence the reason he jumped down your throat.
But I imagine this was all just another example of a communications breakdown, yes?

yeah I was being a bit snarky but it's nice that people want to help and all but I'd rather not be told to calm down when I'm jsut fine an expressing how I felt about something rather if you agree or not. There are calm cival ways of dealing with these things without flipping off the deep end.
And it was a mix of miss-communication and I believe what is people not understanding really where I'm coming from.

The man has a point. Honestly his points are more valid then all of yours. The wholeDrome for the most part has done nothing but whine about the new TMNT everything.
You all have issues with the movie, the toys, the video game*Which I liked*, and god only knows what else. Take your own advice. He makes a topic to complaina bout his dislikes in one place and you rag on him, it's no different then you all bitching all over the place except it's more organized. Leave him alone you all bitch way more then he does and if you can't handle his insight then take your own advice and shut up and wait for the movie yourself.
And I'[ll point it out everytime I see you whining in a topic after this just to prove my point.

I'm just bummed that April is not a reporter anymore in the movie.
But I think I like the way the Raph and Leo fight turn out.
As for the CGI. The CGI itself, I like. But I do not like the scrawny look the Turtles have in this movie. People say that is how they are in the comics, well, I never seen them that skinny in the comics. They are more short, squat and dwarf like in the comics, but not skinny.
Oh, and I would like a PG-13 film too, but that could happen next time around.
Ok, thanks for starting a thread where I can vent off.

hehe sure thing man I agree it didn't even cross my mind that she isn't a reporter in this movie. hmmm I wonder what she does now I'm sure the movie will explain it.
yeah thats all leo and raph do though can't wait till the day comes when they came move past that we very well may get that though when this movie is over. It does look beautifuly done though I might add.
I agree some parts of this new movie look more well done than others do.
I'm all for mirage looking tmnt and the designs for this movie have come a long long way but yeah I think the bigger more meaty looking turtles are better and people can relate to allot more because it makes them seem more human oddly enough.

I really like the design of the new tmnt and am overall really happy with it, but it seems like it would have made more sense to make em a bit beefier and older looking considering this is a story about them coming together after having drifted apart for a while.

I am really looking forward to this movie; I just have a few worries (based on the novelization).
It is too much based on the new cartoon. I love the toon, but it is not as popular as the old comics and certainly not as popular as the old cartoon. In the new toon we have the unlikely yet politically correct April-is-a-skilled-ninja thing, and Casey is cool, but a slow-witted klutz at times. And that seems exactly what we have here in the movie. And the whole monsters-taking-over-the-city thing is straight out of the new show. It's going to turn off a bunch of people over the age of eight. I want the movie to do well, and I want audiences of all ages to like it ... I'm worried the monster thing (and to be honest, the lack of the Foot Clan, if not Shredder--who I'm honestly sick of personally) will confuse people.
As for me, I will love it and I'm sure I'll be overjoyed at the cool monster designs. But will $100M worth of other people be?
Heh, they should do City at War as a movie.
P.S. Also, the moral is kind of strange ... the best way to strengthen the bonds of family is to beat the **** out of each other, then out of a bunch of monsters, and then ... family is good?

From what I've gathered on these boards, the novelization doesn't do any justice to the movie. But there's supposed to be an official movie adaptation coming, right? Granted it'll just be a rehash of the movie in comic book form, but it's bound to be a lot better than the novelization was at getting the story across.
