dont see a thread yet, forgive me if there is one.
discuss?
alot of action and story but its too bad they hafta cram it all into 20 minutes or so. chris says it sucks they now show us what the mystics look like, he said they were cooler when we couldnt see them.
the show of the friendship bond between acolytes kinda cut short but thats ok.
the raph fangirl in me bummed for him of course. he so wanted her. :P
In all honesty, this was the first episode in which I realized the 'thing' they were trying to imply between Raph and Joy. But, he seemed barely upset when she got eaten. That's my clearest memory of the ep (how fast that scene made my eyes roll). So, I'm off to watch my DVR. :)

Heh, I kinda agree - the Mystics look way cooler as they were when they served under Ch'rell/Karai. Now they're lanky things with faces that remind me of the alien leader chick from Lilo and Stitch.

Regardless of my personal preferences on the turtle+human debate... if they wanted a "thing" between Raph and Joy, I think they should have made it clearer, earlier. He treated her about the same as the other human acolytes until this episode. The "look us up" scene was kinda cute, but seemed like it came out of the blue. And suddenly she's all "avenge meeeee D:" and Raph seems pretty upset (I think he's internalizing some of his grief in his Raphy way) and even offers a quick eulogy before heading back into battle. That would have meant more for us as an audience if we'd had better development of their friendship.
Also, holy crap. That was a lot to cram into a single episode. I was surprised that everyone (except the Turtles, of course :P) died. The first guy was a bummer, but since Leo got his sword I figured that he was The Death that the plot required. But then everyone else... yikes. Too bad their personalities weren't that developed, so I could care more about it. It was more like "Wow... that sucks. I guess I kinda liked that guy" rather than if they killed a well-liked character like Leatherhead or Usagi, which would get a much stronger reaction and probably mean more. So, same as my issue with the whole Raph/Joy thing.
Ignoring my continued annoyances with magical fighting, I think this one was a decent episode. Rushed storytelling, but still OK.

I liked all the action going on. If I had to choose between an episode that had almost too much stuff crammed in and an episode with harly any substance, I say too much.
I know many people disliked SAINW because there was too much going on way too fast. But that is what I liked about it. Kind of like this one today. I like watching events unfold quickly.
I wonder though if writers meant for some chemistry between Raph and Joy. You would think if they wanted those two to have "something" they would have written it a bit clearer. could the raph/joy stint be non-existant. Perhaps raph talks to her a bit differently because she's a female.
Each turtle seems to have a bond with each acolyte. (leo - feragi, don - adam, mike - tora, raph - joy)
Maybe there is nothing "sexual" and raph just got paired with joy as his acolyte bond.

And for once, just once, have the bad guys have a legitimate plan. Ok, bring their great Shredder back to life and bring an end to all things...then what? :P

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Raph and Joy getting together. I was kind of happy when Joy got eaten. :P

^:ttwisted:devilish. I didn't mind it much but I wonder if Joy was really interested in raph that way. I can understand the turtles maybe liking humans but humans liking turtles seems unnatural

Excellent point. For that reason, I can understand why he wasn't as upset about it as the few times we saw him tear up over the (potential) loss of a loved one. But, since she was the only female among them, it's a no-brainer for the writers to have someone get sorta flirty with her.

All in due time. ;)

Maybe not, but she wasn't all grossed-out when she said "down, boy". So, as compared to April & Casey's relationship, Raph is already betrothed to Joy. ^_^

I confess I watched Spiderman instead this morning.
Could someone give me a basic rundown of the story so I'll be prepared for next week?

You know, I had a feeling last week that the acolaydes would die at one point in this episode. Clues? Since they already aired Membership Drive...
In More Worlds than one, Donatello and Adam are talking about the Turtle Taxi. In Membership drive, we see Don working on it, saying "Adam would have loved this." I forgot that until last week's episode, since it was on almost a year ago, and I didn't watch it since. Wish I remembered what tape I taped it on, though.

Not really. I forget what the deal was, but it was in that wonderful month when we were getting one NT episode and one FF episode that they gave us a "bonus episode" in Membership Drive. It isn't detremental to the plot of season 5 so I guess that's why they showed it.
I think "Membership Drive" comes on next weekend too. ^_^ Second run for that ep, but that's the only one from the season that was aired so far. On-Demand doesn't count since that would be like saying, "If it's on YouTube, it's been aired".

Chikara was much more rational in this episode- to the point that she even seemed concerned and understanding. The bad guys tricked her well- who would have seen it coming?
I do not think that Raph and Joy will become a couple either.

To tell the truth, I couldn't agree with you more on that. And yet, with the unmasking of their mystics, they became more accessable to us; their incarnations, which are fraught with imagination, delicacy and humanization, narrow the gap between us and themselves. Also I thought the meaning of all the Mystics lies no other than in the exitement to reveal them. =_=

I thought it'd be nice if Raph end up with Joy, they do share the bond, as you see. Yet I kinda doubt Raph felt that way to Joy as you may expected. And there's no practical evidence, overall, to ascertain their romatic relationship ever existed within the shows, if not outside them you'll say.
On the other hand, I'm, basically, an anti-human/turtle right wing, while when it comes to R/J, usually I compromise.

It's possible. Everything is possible. 0_o
But hey, I'd never use that kind of tone something is sure gonna what or the like. You know, whether Raph will have Joy in the end depends on how they write their script, it's just... never gonna be our call, right? Nevertheless, the consideration and expectaion is sweet.
Welcome for challenges. -v-

This episode was sad and very moving to me. I felt bad that the Acolytes got killed, and I was a little sad about the Tribunal, though not much. I am glad that Leo finally did get a weapon, and it reminds me of the Sword of Tengu in a way with all the power it holds. Yes, the episode had a lot going on, but I loved it. I didn't even mind the look of the Mystics since they're so tricky and did a good job of tricking Chikara and the Turtles.
As for the Raph/Joy pairing, it's obvious he liked her. Maybe he didn't tear up over her as he did for Leo, but you could tell that he was upset. He really did like her, but couldn't really express it so well. That's why he gave the hint for her to look them up in New York, though he did stammer while saying it.
Overall, a good episode. I can't wait to see Membership Drive again.

Did anyone find Baraji's (or whoever you spell his name) death extremely hilarious? He was busy making his big heroic speech, and the monsters were like, screw it, and killed him before he could finish. I think it's a clever joke by the writers saying how people always manage to make long heroic speeches even in in the heat of battle.

 Yeah I was watching it and sayin to myself "dude quit monolouging"... then he got his. (His name's Feragi, actually).
well, i finally got to see this episode today, i watched it twice, because i agree, it was a lot to take in. one thing ... it made me really understand why this whole season was shelved...this episode was REALLY violent! i mean wow, how did it even it make it on today? don't get me wrong, i really enjoyed it...but still.
loved the part where leo is holding the gateway open and he's all "i WONT let this happen!" or whatever...so chilling. and how ominous the ending is...with them looking out onto times square. i really think it would be neat if everything went the way of Same as it Never Was...you know, that type of "controlled" world....because then that woulda been some great foreshadowing there.

Okay... we are talking about possibility now, but why does it matter any more? She's died. o_0 I mean, why it matters he liked her or not or he expressed it or not, she's died. 0_o Any takers?

5 of the 12 episodes that the 5th Season had were set at the monestary. (sp?) And this one was by far my favorite. Lots of action! Great animation! I did enjoy the remainding 7 episodes, though.

Correction: 6 were set in the monastery. Let's not forget Mikey & The Turtle-munks in "Fathers & Sons". I know... It was only a flashback that was set in the monestary, but... I just needed to smart-off... :sweatdro: You understand, right? :embarass:
