Woah! Way to go, dudette! That's a lot of writing...I don't know how much I've got, since I write with 1.5 spacing. How long do you think your fic is going to be?

Skeletoncrew
03-31-2002, 02:46 AM
I'm not sure. My plans at this point are to have her tell her story, they'll help her out with a couple things...and well, thats about it. I guess this could be considered an "introduction" story. No big battles or anything.

azure turtle
03-31-2002, 09:28 PM
An introduction, eh? So there's more to come, yes?
*wink wink*

Kali
03-31-2002, 09:39 PM
About the length of a chapter, I try and keep mine about 5 or so pages, by the way Word counts .htm's. I usually write out about 1 1/2 to 2 pages by hand before I even get to the computer.

Which I seriously need to do. Just got a brainstorm that's gonna turn my chapter ten into chapter eleven.

azure turtle
03-31-2002, 10:06 PM
Wow, you write them out by hand first? I always typed up a rough draft first, let it set for a few days, then return to it later on and finish it. I think I'm too lazy to write 'em out by hand first

Kali
03-31-2002, 10:16 PM
Eh, I tend to lose my train of thought that way. It's easier for me to go back over a written page than a typed one. If I let a story "sit" too long, I lose the inspiration.

I sometimes write out the entire scene, or maybe just one sentence. It's the brainstorming part of it. I need something more tangible than a computer screen.

And I can't always get to the computer whenever an idea hits me, and I am so scatter brained it's not funny. I've lost many a story that way.

azure turtle
03-31-2002, 11:16 PM
I see, I see. Well, if it works, it works! Hmm...perhaps an update to Midori is looming over the horizon??

Skeletoncrew
04-01-2002, 12:32 AM
My writing method is fairly scattered. I do some on the computer, some by hand, whatever is working at the time. I figure thats okay though...this is my first story. Gotta leave room for improvement, right?

I have the same problem! I have to write it down the moment I think of it, otherwise it is pushed out by something else and lost forever

I have a pad full of jotted down ideas and one liners. That pad goes every where with me. I swear people think I am Mad!

azure turtle
04-01-2002, 09:45 AM
You, mad? Nah...don't listen to 'em, Nun! I guess I'm the only one who doesn't write down anything by hand. Whenever I come up with an idea, though, I store it on my computer on Word or something similar. And then I store it on a floppy disc just in case anything terrible happens (y'know, power surges and other acts of the turtle gods).

Maybe.
As I've said, something came up in the story. I have a good chunk of eleven (was ten) done, but I decided to do a first person exposition chapter next. You all do want to see some highlights from Midori's life, right?

I have the feeling it's going to be longer than the other chapters, and therefore, take a little longer to get out. But I'll be doing a lot of writing because I sure as hell won't be doing much talking the next few days!

But hey, I put art work up yesterday! First two pages from my new sketchbook.

azure turtle
04-01-2002, 04:44 PM
Yay! I'm very interested in what happens to Midori. Glad to hear that there's an update coming
And your new artwork! I like it! But poor Raph. I guess he really liked your Easter costume.
I'm sorry to hear that your sick. Hope you feel better soon.
*gives Kali a mango of healing*

Kali
04-01-2002, 07:32 PM
Eh, it ain't too bad. I just feel a little tired and the worst part is that I've lost my voice. (Though my family is grateful for that.)

Yep, I wasn't going to, but I think it'll give more insight into the character. How she dealt with her mutation, and how she came to live in the warehouse, some injuries, a few bouts of sickness, some encounters with humans, that sort of stuff.

azure turtle
04-01-2002, 09:46 PM
Aww...poor Kali. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get that lovely voice back soon

Ya, I think adding some background on Midori would provide a lot of depth for her. I'm interested in knowing how she got into her situation in the first place. Maybe she could do some sort of flash back while talking to one of the turtles?? Just a suggestion. Good luck with it!

Kali
04-02-2002, 11:30 AM
That's what I'm doing. See, at the end of chapter nine, Leo and Midori started swapping stories. You all don't need to hear the turtle's story again, and chapter ten is a first person account of some of the important parts of Midori's life. (Like I did for Aura in Dragon Lore Ch. 4.)

Sorry if that sounds confusing. It'll come out like a short autobiography.

Not you, the girl throwing cookies. *points to the raving SC* Think we should hose her down?

Nunchucker

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this thread supposed to be random?

Kali I hope you feel better soon!

I have caught a mad fic writing fever.

Must write more, must write more.

azure turtle

HI! What are you doing?

Nunchucker
04-03-2002, 04:27 AM
YES! It came, it came!

My Heroes in a Half Shell tape came today!

*Does the happy dance*

I works in my VCR, so off to buy the movies!

Silly quesiton time.

Can someone give me the names of all the tapes in the first series?

Then I can try and get the rest of them.

azure turtle

Kali

What? Don't tell me you people have never seen a blue mutant turtle before.
*glares at all the staring customers*
All right. I'll have two cheeseburgers, please.

Kali
04-04-2002, 02:06 PM
Yeah. Stupid drugs always do this to me. I mean medicinal drugs, I've never tried any other kind. I feel kinda numb, but fuzzy all over. Except for my ribs, which are still aching from spending nearly 12 hours coughing.

I should use this good mood to do a short I've been meaning to do.

Nunchucker
04-04-2002, 02:10 PM
I have asthma and I get it really bad when I have a cold. The coughing is awful. One day I said to the doctor that I was afraid I would snuffercate with all the coughing.

He then told me that you couldn't die from coughing. To which I shot back, well I had a bloody good go at it last night! To which he jabbed me up the bum with a flu jab!

azure turtle
04-04-2002, 02:11 PM
Aww, poor Kali. I shall wish you well once more. Maybe the turtle gods shall hear me this time
Nun, I think I've seen the show that you're basing your fanfic off of. It used to air on the Family channel, and I remember Chillingham Castle being the first place that a family was dared to spend the night in. I'm into the paranormal (quite fascinated by it, really), but even I wouldn't want to step into that place. Lots of negative vibes, I tell ya.

Kali
04-04-2002, 02:17 PM
Heh heh. Actually, I think the Turtle gods did cure me, of my laryngitis. But I ended getting a cold immediately after that. Grrr...

I, for one, love the paranormal. I've read several books on the subject. It's sad to think that even though it's in the same city, I've never been to the Winchester Mystery House. I must go sometime, I really want to. And then I'll write a fic about it.

azure turtle
04-04-2002, 02:20 PM
No way, dudette!! You live in the same place as the Winchester Mystery House?? My family and I drove past it once during a road trip! I really wanted to go in and take a tour, since there are supposed to be around four different spirits within the home. Too bad we didn't have enough time on our schedule to stop by. My mom really wanted to see it to (for the odd architecture) but I wanted to see it for the ghosties! Yes, I know I'm a big chicken, but I'm curious as to what I would've seen in that house.

Nunchucker
04-04-2002, 02:20 PM
I am having a bit of trouble with the paranormal at the moment. There are so many ghosts in Chillingham Castle how do I fit them all in?

I wonder if that mug will ever come off? hmmmmmmm

azure turtle
04-04-2002, 02:22 PM
Well, you could always choose the spirits that interest you the most. You don't have to mention them all...that place is just filled to the roof with them! No way this blue turtle would spend the night in there!

Nunchucker
04-04-2002, 02:24 PM
I have a feeling by the time the night is up Raphael will be a believer. *Evil witchy cackle*

I like the style I am writing it in too. I never thought I could do stuff like that.

Kali
04-04-2002, 02:25 PM
Ah, I do live in San Jose, and my mom works just down the street from The House.

I'm sure you'll find a way to do it.

*snicker* Oh, it will eventually. Even if they have to wait until the skin sheds. There's usually directions on the glue as to what to do if you get any on your skin. Now they just have to get past April to get the glue.

azure turtle
04-04-2002, 02:26 PM
Heh heh heh...poor Raph! And trying out new writing styles can be fun! I don't think I've ever written comedy before, but I have tried to sprinkle my current fic with a few funny (at least, in my opinion) scenes.

Nunchucker
04-04-2002, 02:28 PM
I did think what it must have sounded like for poor April on the other size of that door.

Ooooo Pure evilness!

Kali
04-04-2002, 02:30 PM
Using different writing styles is a good exercise. I try and do that sometimes. It shows flexibility, and as Azure said, it's fun.

Nunchucker
04-04-2002, 02:37 PM
I have another fic itching to get out, only I am not sure about putting it up.

Most of my stories are writen around things I have done or my life experiences. I thought it would be fun to write about the joys of looking after a mean Grey Parrot.

Maybe I have been sitting too close to the computer!

HorseTechie
04-04-2002, 02:43 PM
Aww.. you don't wanna be a "Royal Blue Mikey?" either, Azure? *tsk*

Yeah.. the one time I was sick this year, it was a doozy. My ribs hurt for like weeks after since I had coughed so hard too. Bleah. Three cheers for the humidifier!

But writing comedy is fun, like a refreshing beather from the rest. It's the chilling, scary, R rated, bloody, gory, sexy sort of things that get hard for me to pull off at times. Or Poetry... I don't have much talent for that.

Nunchucker
04-04-2002, 02:46 PM

I have one of those in my bird room. Sadly I am having to down size my hobby. My dad has developed an alergy (sp?) to feather dust.

azure turtle
04-04-2002, 02:48 PM

Ooh, I saw your new drawings, by the way. Very cute. Did I ever give you the link to FARP (http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/farp/index.html)? That site has a lot of good advice for improving drawing skills. I use it all the time.

E gads!

I really didn't think that Leo pic was very good. It was the first one a drew since coming back into the bossom of fandom.

I have tons of art, much better then that one. Mainly Leo and Raph, for some reason I can't draw Mikey or Don. The problem is my scanned files are too big. and I have no way of reducing them.

Hello, greetings and salutations.

I was thinking about the next chapter of Death by Boredom. I like the whole permenant marker thing. I was hoping to use that, but I thought I'd better ask first.

Kali
04-05-2002, 10:15 AM
Nun, I thought the Leo pic was pretty good. For scanning, if you don't have a program that will reduce file sizes, you may be able to reduce while scanning. There's usually a DPI (dots per inch) menu to choose resolution. If you're scanning stuff to put online, scan it at 72 dpi.

I had the feeling that that last part of the conversation was said after April had left the door. She wouldn't have heard "mug". Permanent marker is a neat idea, go ahead and use it. *hands Nun her marker*

Hmmmmmm now what word should I scrawl on Mikey's forehead? Revenge attacks, gotta love em.

Hmmmm good ideas. Duely noted.

Now all I need is for him to do something to Raphael first, in revenge for the mug. But what? What would really drive Raph mad?

Kali
04-05-2002, 02:49 PM
I was discussing this with my brother, and he reminded me of something I did to him once.

We love frozen grapes during the summer. One morning I got up really early and went to get some. I was struck with a wave of evil inspiration. I snuck into his room and put a frozen grape in his ear as he slept. Ha! I've never seen anyone wake up that fast. I was an evil sister.

But since Turtles don't have "ears" as we do, I figured an ice cube down the back of Raph's neck would work nicely.

SC, I think you're having a little too much fun with RBM

And HT, I don't think RBM would suit Mikey. He's not blue, don'tcha know.

Hmmm...there are so many things that could be written on a turtle! Of course, there'd be more room on his shell!

One word possibilities for the forehead: braindead, eunuch, easy, ugly, I(heart shape)boys...

Bigger (shell) possibilities: Your AD here, SM seeks SF to share interest in chickens, bubblegum, and spanking. (OR something along that line...personal ads are the funniest thing in the world!) Or maybe something like a hotel ad: Great rates! Only $39.99 a night!

Today was a very sad day.

I had to hand my babies (Parrots) over to their new owner. A very good friend of mine, who is also a breeder. Boy did I cry!

They settled in really well, they looked so happy to be out with the other birds. I am sure gonna miss them. Tony said I could visit them any time I wanted, but it's not the same!

*Sniff sniff*

*Thourghly depressed*

Oh well, on to the good news. Tomorrow I am going to pick up my baby Hermans turtle. (Awww) He/she is only 6 months old and about the size of a golf ball. (Awww) So please welcome 'Bushido' the baby turtle.

Kali
04-06-2002, 01:49 PM
Aww, but think of it this way, there are worse ways to lose a pet.

And you get a cute new turtle. I want to get me one of those. My room's too small for it now. (Yes, my room's too small for a golfball sized turtle.) But as soon as I move, I'm so getting one. And I'll name it Kaosu Tenshi. *squeals and goes off to paint some more*

Nunchucker
04-06-2002, 01:56 PM

Nunchucker
04-07-2002, 01:37 PM
Warning super long post ahead!

I am so glad that you are feeling better Kali. I know how pooie it can be when you have an endless cough.

Today was the day I went to pick up my baby Herman's turtle. I had the vivarium all set up and waiting. Everything ready from heat mat to basking rock. So I went to the pet store and picked my turtle, but then his companion looked so loney. After a long talk with the breeder, who assured me it was perfectly okay to keep two, the both came home with me. They have settled in really well! They are already eating and scrambling about.

Ana loves them! She asked me when they were going to get big and jump around. I told her turtles don't jump. She then asked when they were going to turn into 'super' turtles. Awww bless. I told her they wouldn't and she said, their funny looking turtles.

Hmmmm now all I need is some ooze!

Machias Banshee
04-07-2002, 04:01 PM
you make it sound like a BAD thing....

Kali
04-07-2002, 04:05 PM
No, not bad, just a bit different from what I'm used to. I don't usually draw them as kids.

You have no idea how wiggy that medicine made me. I started writing a story called "Raphael, the Furby King" THAT'S how messed up I was! I'm surprised I managed to get up a decent copy of Midori: Chapter ten in that condition.

Machias Banshee
04-07-2002, 04:17 PM
 Raph as a furby?! Man, that would be a hilarious pic!

Yeah, i usually have some trouble drawing them as little kids, but sometimes i use anne Geddes pics to get ideas.

Kali
04-07-2002, 04:22 PM
No, not Raph as a Furby. See, my brother and I have this joke between us. One day my brother started talked to this Furby (those McD's ones that don't talk back.) I'm not sure how it happened but it somehow escalated into him going into a toy store and all the Furbies would start talking to him at once.

I was going to have Raph in the store when he passes the Furbies. One says something to him, and he says something back and then they ALL start talking and Raph totally freaks out.

Man I was out of it.

Machias Banshee
04-07-2002, 04:25 PM
I would have raph get into an argument with one, or have mike get one which talks all night long and pushes Raph to the edge...

Kali
04-07-2002, 04:32 PM
Heh heh. Yeah, I could totally see Raph getting into an argument with one of Mike's little virtual pets. That would be funny.

Leo: Raph, it's just a toy.
Raph: It's mocking me, Leo. It's evil, we have to destroy it!

Machias Banshee
04-07-2002, 04:34 PM

Maybe I'll write something someday. I've got Midori to finish first.

Machias Banshee
04-07-2002, 04:51 PM
I read your latest chapter. The remembering of her beginnings was interesting. I was surprised she could remember that far back. Only Splinter can remember the early beginnings of him and the boys...

Kali
04-07-2002, 04:58 PM
Who says? Just because Splinter was the one to tell the story didn't mean the guys didn't remember.

Okay, so I took some creative license, so sue me. Besides, I wanted to tell the story. She naturally has a very good memory and learns fast, so I'm not surprised she remembers.

Machias Banshee
04-07-2002, 05:02 PM
Ah, good answer. Its kinda like the childhood memories you have. You only remember to a certain point, and then its like you dont exist anymore...

*reads her post* Okay, that seems a little pointless. Yes, I dont doubt that the guys remember some of their past, and Midori's memory is very good--a lot better than mine, thats for sure! And the way you wrote it was a very interesting point of view.

Kali
04-07-2002, 05:18 PM
I wanted it to sound different. I didn't want an emotionless, third-person account. After all, it was Midori telling it to Leo. And although you never hear Leo, I hope you could tell where he had commented or asked a question.

And yes, she has a good memory. Taro commented on how intelligent she was while she was training. However, she's still a little confused when it comes to emotions and social situations.

Hello and welcome to the rip snorting game of:

NAME THE BABY TURTLES!

I am really stumped. I have been told I may have a male and female, but I think unisex names would be the best.

If you ask Ana what's the best thing about the baby turtles, she will tell you: They go inside their shells!

*Does the happy dance*

I have finally tracked down a copy of Turtles Tournament Fighters for my SNES. I played it today and guess what? I sucked big time!

Yahoo groups. You love to hate them. I can no longer sign into my groups. I keep being asked to verify my password and then nothing happens. Is it just me or does Yahoo have it in for everyone?

Kali

I wanted names contected with the Turtles. I liked Bushido, but my mum says I have too many things named after ninjas.

Hmmmmm lets see, there's Rex the dog, Jim the rat, Missy the cockatoo, Monty the macaw and Deedee the grey.

*Slaps the side of her face* You know what, my mum's right. Screams ninja at the top of it's lungs.

Ooh...a male and female turtle, eh? What kind of names were you looking for? For unisex names, there's Renee and Kelly. I'm sure there are more, but I can't think off the top of my head.

Machias Banshee

Ooh, Names!

Well, if you want to use non-ninja japanese names, you could use Izanami(fem.) and Izanagi (masc.), The two mythological individuals who created the japanese islands, the sun and the moon...

or you could use Jack and Jill, or Bill and Monica, use alcohol names, like our hamsters Zima and Smirnoff...anything really.

Awww, sorry SC. I missed out on Machias's awakening, and was able to participate near the end for that "fun" game. I'm sure there's going to be more in store for us...

Woah, it's been a while seen you've graced us with your presence, digital one!

Sorry Y'all, i guess things can get pretty fast-paced in there.

You guys Really think we're that difficult to live with ALL the time?! *pout*

Hmmm...maybe we should put you two (Azure and saisei)together... have something happen...hehehe  *runs off to plot*

I didn't say that you're difficult to live with all the time. I'm just saying I've been embarassed on more than one occasion... And whatever you have up your sleeve, I don't like it!

Sure you have. But I didn't cause any of it.

I seem to remember an instance involving drugged doughnuts....hmm.....

Sorry. i guess i went too far. Trust me, after what I got into for doing that, i promise i'll never do anything like that again.

thanks...i look back on all the stuff i did, and think "Man, why cant i be that creative in real life?"

Just kiddin' I'll TRY to be more behaved...

use your inner Draw-jitsu strengths, and you can accomplish anything!

Kali
04-08-2002, 08:46 PM
Honestly though, you'd get in a lot more trouble if you did the stuff we do here, in real life.

Saisei
04-08-2002, 08:48 PM
That's too bad, though. It would be a lot of fun!!

Machias Banshee
04-08-2002, 08:51 PM
Yeah, I'd have my parents and The COPS to answer to, rather than Splinter. Hmmm...kinda equal dangers, if you ask me.

azure turtle
04-08-2002, 08:52 PM
 I shall try, Sensei!
*bows before Machias*
True, Kali, we would get into a lot of trouble. I just meant channeling that creative energy to other things in RL.
I guess some things would be fun, Saisei..
*imagines himself throwing rotten mangos at professors*
But I'd rather not get sued

Machias Banshee
04-08-2002, 08:53 PM
Throwing mangoes is alot better than some stuff i know about...

Hmmmm do the things we do in here in real life.

What's a real life? Do I have one of those? If not, where can you get one?

I suppose you could get into a lot of trouble. But remember, it's only trouble if you get caught!

Although I do believe that the police are best avoided if you are planning on having any fun.

azure turtle
04-09-2002, 05:14 PM
LOL!! Yep, getting the police involved isn't always a good idea...

Machias Banshee
04-09-2002, 05:18 PM
Yeah, just look at 'Popcorn'! Hmmm, i would have loved to have seen the guys get cornered by the boys in blue, just to see how theyd get themselves out of it.

azure turtle
04-09-2002, 05:26 PM
Heh heh heh...I think the cops would be scared off by four giant turtles. I know my first reaction would be to scream and run, before turning around and coming back to speak with them.

Machias Banshee
04-09-2002, 05:30 PM
I dunno...they might think they were aliens and try to communicate with them.

Saisei
04-09-2002, 05:31 PM
I think I would wind up traumatized for life if I ran into them without knowing of their existance prior to the encounter! I think the cops'd probably run too, but not before pulling out their guns and ammo.

Machias Banshee
04-09-2002, 05:33 PM
Ack, maybe getting them cornered Wouldnt be such a good idea!

I'd love to see what had happened when Don was sent to return the underwear and apologize. That had to have some interesting moments.

azure turtle
04-09-2002, 05:38 PM
Oh ya!! I wonder if Nun would consider writing a short blurb about that incident. It would be interesting

Machias Banshee
04-09-2002, 05:40 PM
We'll have to harrass her about that and the conversation that took place between the lush Leonardo and Splinter.

azure turtle
04-09-2002, 05:48 PM
 That must've been one of the most interesting conversations Splinter has ever had with poor Leo.

Machias Banshee
04-09-2002, 06:00 PM
Oh, YES IT WAS!!! Man, Leo must have gotten the lecture of his life, not to mention the punishment to match!

azure turtle
04-09-2002, 11:32 PM
Ya, poor turtle. He rarely gets in trouble, and when he does, he gets a talking from Splinter and lots of ribbing from the other guys.

Skeletoncrew
04-09-2002, 11:44 PM
"Ribbed for her pleasure. Ewwwww" --Garth from "Wayne's World"

You know what would be funnier than a drunken Leo talking to Splinter? A drunken Splinter talking to Leo! Of course, thats not likely to happen...but its fun to think about!

azure turtle
04-09-2002, 11:46 PM
 Splinter drunk?! Now there's a wild idea...I agree, it'd be pretty funny!

And I don't know what that quote means, SC...no, please don't explain it to me

Nunchucker
04-10-2002, 03:22 AM
Hmmmm being cornered by the police.

I would think that they would run. As long as the don't shoot at you or handcuff you togther, the police are pretty easy to get away from in parks and open spaces.

Funny I thought my ears were burning last night. I had no idea people found my fics funny. Hmmmm a follow up to Donatello and the knickers, not to mention Leo and Splinter's talk. Okies, watch this space. I have another short funny on the way.

I could also see if I could do one where they get cornered by the police.

Is everyone happy? Any more requests?

Machias Banshee
04-10-2002, 10:18 AM
I'd like to see the guys get frisked! maybe one strip search? Ooh, have leo get an alcohol test! Walk the line and all that!!! You could have Raph get handcuffed by a female cop, have him say something sassy to her, and she could put him through the ringers, or do something to him that's embarassing!

Yes, I am hyper again! :eyemouth:

Kali

*takes away Machias' sugar*

I had a dream like that once. Except it was Raph who was the cop and... uh... nevermind.

Machias Banshee
04-10-2002, 11:06 AM
*pouts at Kali taking her sugar. Pulls out an apple and starts eating it*

*snicker* I had a dream a lil' along those lines, but recently i had a REALLY embarassing one! Everytime i think about it< I STILL blush!

Kali
04-10-2002, 11:10 AM
Heh heh. I'd share, but this is supposed to be a relatively family-friendly forum. Isn't it?

Although I had one recently that really disturbed me. ME! Of all people. Don't ask...
