The newest COF album. I really didn't care much for their last offering but I was given the chance to check this CD out for free so I figured why not. They've been hit and miss lately. They seem to be in a pattern of releasing a good CD then a bad one then a good one again.
This one continues the pattern. It's actually not bad and some of the songs are pretty catchy. I was worried about it when I heard the song they released early "Tragic Kingdom" I didn't dig it very much but after hearing the whole CD I care more for it. It's a nice mix of their newer style and some older. They also tried some new stuff which worked in their favor.
It seems like Danni has to recycle band members ever two CDs to keep things going for him. I'm not exactly sure how they got popular over in the US to begin with since they sport some of the harshest metal vocals. They were the hardest band for me to get into. He's improved quite a bit over the years but now his screams are uncontrolled and somewhat more random.
I guess anything with demons on the cover or H.P. Lovecraft style lyrics will appeal to goth kids and avid Hot Topic visitors. Also people seem to love stuff that's lame and COF lyrics are full of cheese now. The narrations are laughable most of the time. I don't know anyone who could tell me with a straight face they think it's "cool". I doubt I'll ever see them live again, they're horrible live, but this CD is good and I recommend it to anyone who liked their earlier work or even Nymphetamine.
Anyone else heard it?
