how do i participate in these games. how do i join, what characters can i use ect....

Well, you can either join a game/thread in progress (each thread/topic is a different game) or start your own. If you want to join a game, the polite thing to do is ask if you can join, and which canon characters are taken, etc.. Then, you should read at least the last page or two to learn where everyone is, and think of how you could bring your character in.

If there aren't any TMNT characters left you want you may invent your own, make sure you add the name, general appearance, all their abilities, and maybe a little bit of background.

To play, is easy enough, just like posting. Like writing a story, but you can only write for your character. You can't control other's characters. Just like playing pretend in written format. General format is the same as writing, regular action written normal, "speaking", 'thought' (thought may also be in italics). It's fair to take hits sometimes and give other players a chance.

Yes, you can. You can also play already established characters (Shredder, Don, April, etc.) provided they are not someone else's creations (such as Graysight for Jade).
