Wee... the first 3D project I was working in my Maya class is complete!
The main goal was to make a 10 second, full rotation movie clip. Many students went all out, but I was pretty simple. My only regret was that my second area light wasn't very bright, so the back of the model is hard to see.

The second (aka the Final project) should be way more impressive. I plan to make an animation of Blaster transforming! Then later, sometime this summer, I'll make a Turtle too. :D

OMG :o that's pretty awesome. It looks like you took the toy and measured out the exact measurements. But there's one thing that looks a little odd to me, the tapedeck looks a little small. I know the toy itself is like that... but it looks like it plays mini tapes.

Calio: Once you get the idea of how to manipulate the forms (lines, faces, vertices), it's nt really that bad. But just learning what all the features, tools, and keyboard short cuts do is the biggest pain.
Cooksux: yep... Blaster's tapes are about the size of our mini-tapes in comparison. His cassette bots are approx. 2 1/2 inches wide in tape mode.

I was saying as if he was realistically proportioned instead of to toy, since toy proportions tend to vary when it comes to realism. But that's not the point, what I see is an almost exact polygonal copy of the real deal. Awesome.
