I'd like to hear peoples view of issite the good and the bad.

Bad-
The site sets up a viewing system which allows only top viewed on the front page. So people who have been on there a longer, (average artwork)over time they will have gained viewers over the years which will get them on the first page easier then someone who creates amazing artwork.

Good-
A really nice community, even when your a beginner artist people are guaranteed to say nice things about your artwork/ style even if you aren't that good at it.

The good is mixed with what some may call bad at DA. If you look up art in the search, you get a little bit of everything even if only looking for a specific art piece.

You though, have the ability to find great artists with incredible talent who you could befriend and watch their technique; and eventually learn how to be an amazing artist yourself.

Plenty of life art and from skinny to muscular, male to female poses, there are great examples everywhere.

You just have to be extremely careful not to expose yourself to the bad, which is hard considering what you have to look through.

With a filter it is easier to do, but agreeable non the less.

I love finding amazing muscle techniques of any art genre, they are always a great help and fun to watch their future artworks compile out.

Exactly! Then you get excited after you figure out certain techniques, once you have it down, it's hard to put down the pencil and paper :)

Personally I've never had any problems with the front page issues because, well, I never look at the front page. My only real gripe with DA is that it's featuring more and more nudity. I don't have a problem with nudity if it's tasteful, and I have seen some really beautiful photography pieces with nudes. But I really HATE seeing the borderline soft/hardcore pornographic nudity that's being selected a few times a week as Daily Deviations. I really wish there was some way that I can filter out the DD scroll that lurks in my inbox when I go to check my messages, it's extremely irritating.

I enjoy the community at Deviantart, but I have to agree with the nudity gripe. I also feel like the photography element of deviantart is too much of the content. I gripe about that because some of those photos look like myspace pictures and they get featured, meanwhile people who spend time with anything done by hand, or even photography that is artistic gets pushed to the side because the subject may not be as sexy as the (likely underage) nude model laying prone on a couch.
