View Full Version : Favorite version of the Turtles?

Or if you prefer "favorite Turtle continuity". Bear with me as I haven't read the original comics so I don't quite know what I'm talking about in terms of comics. Mine would be the original cartoon. It seemed to have the most original ideas (Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, Shredder being less threatening, the Turtles' love for pizza, Baxter Stockman turning into a fly, April being the Channel 6 reporter, Channel 6, the Technodrome, the Rock Soldiers, Dimension X, the Neutrinoes, Splinter being Hamato Yoshi and not his pet, the Foot Soldiers being robots, and more). Even though it was a kids cartoon, it was awesome.

I voted for the mirage comics
but the movie version was tempting
but those 2 seem the same........in a way.

Well, I first was introduced to the turtles, like many, by the old cartoon. But I've grown since, and appreciate the more mature Mirage/first movie versions more. I think, in time, the new cartoon may become my favorite, as I absolutely love it so far, and if it keeps up the way it has been, it may be the best synthesis of the Mirage universe and old cartoon. Will it become the definitive TMNT? Who knows, but it's a possibility--and so is my liking of it the best.

Well I guess I'm kind of biased since I haven't read the comics or seen the new cartoon so I'll have to go with the original cartoon.
I wonder how many votes The Next Mutation will get....

New cartoon! I love it, it's awesome, I can't think of enough good things to say about it.

As for me, it's a tie between Mirage comics, TMNT movie #1 and the new cartoon.

I agree, actually. I was introduced to Ninja Turtles through the first movie and moved onto the Mirage comics from there, so I tend to prefer that sort of version. The new cartoon is ringing my chime for much that reason, although I'd probably enjoy it even without that background. Don't get me wrong, I watched and loved the old cartoon and read the Archie comics, but My favorites by far are the three Anarchistguy listed.

i voted mirage, but this new toon is damn close, w/ the movie a close third

to let ya know, the new mirage is the same as old mirage, there was just that gap for a few years between the vol2 and vol 4..

what is considered vol 3 is it image or archie? i always wondered this cuz vol4 is really the 5th vol

Mirage.

The movie and new cartoon really attempts to get close, and manages to be entertaining in their own ways, but the original Mirage is always one step ahead...

I picked the Archie TMNT comics because I always loved those stories. The series was able to keep the humor of the original cartoon but throw in some of the more serious feel of Mirage.

Gotta go with archie, I love Ninjara, the future TMNT, Null, and they had the coolest ways to kill people.
I have yet to see a death as cool as seeing a giant cockroach turned into a crystal, then explode in the hands of a nnews jornalist. And I love the way they present so many diffrent religions

You should add Original toon (1987-1993) and (1994-1996) because they were pretty different.

Nickokapo
04-06-2003, 05:22 PM
True their personality changed between those seasons.
I think i'll go with the old toon :D but i like almost all the tmnt versions.

Heeeey... what about the Red Sky version??? That's gotta be seperated from the old cartoons version... they took a whole new approach with it.

Yes they did, they actually renewed the series and the ratings went up. But CBS still decided to cancell it...

New Toon, since I haven't read any of the comics.

BTW, I'm waiting for the Dreamwave editions to come out since I can't stand looking at art in B&W.

I agree with AG, perse, and Donatello. I voted for the Mirage comics, but the new cartoon, and the 1st movie are excellent versions of TMNT continuity as well.

Although I think Krangfan is mistaken for lumping all 3 movies under one continuity. The first movie is far better and far different than the other 2 films.

Also Donatello, Image was volume 3. It was supposed to be a continuation of all the events in Mirage. It was later scrapped when Vol. 4 came out.

The newest cartoon has only aired in the US so far so I'll have to wait a few months before I can compare the show to the others.

They just looked so REAL in the first movie..
I cant help it...the REALISM!

I think its pretty obvious to anyone that's ever read them that the Volume 1 Mirage TMNT are the best. :D

Although... I DID really, REALLY love the Archie guys when I was a little younger.... and the first season of the red sky brought me great joy as well.

Still, Mirage owns.

Im suprised there are that many who have read Mirage... Before it seemed there were only few...

I never read Mirage at all until a bit over a year ago. Now I have almost all of them but haven't had time to read many of them yet. Good stuff, what I've read of it, though.

I think a lot of it has to do with location. Believe it or not, I never even KNEW about Mirage until I won one of the issues playing the wheel game down at Keansburg a few summers ago. Jersey doesn't have too many good comic shops, and those that do have almost no TMNT comics from ANY company. I spent a lot of time on Ebay to fill in the gaps I have.

I didn't have the net til a couple years ago. Truly you're a more dedicated fan than I. Kudos!

Of course, the fact I was more concerned with getting all the Superman comics since the 1986 revamp might have had a bit to do with it, too.

Karpo_007
04-12-2003, 12:06 PM

Krangfan

04-12-2003, 02:50 PM
Why would you want to die at all Karpo? Then you won't see the future of tmnt...

Anyways, I liked the old cartoon the best, having said this without reading a tmnt comic...

Karpo_007
04-12-2003, 02:52 PM
No, I don't want to die yet, but if that would happen, I would do it with a smile on my face.

Tokka-B
04-12-2003, 02:55 PM
What if you get sniped in the back of the head? Idon't think you'd have enough time to smile, let alone react by smiling...

Krangfan
04-12-2003, 02:55 PM
"he died with a smile on his face, I wonder why!" which is what they would say at your funeral :D

Tokka-B

That's true....but to be safe I would be reading your favorite Mirage comic at all times if I were you...whichever one that is...

Nickokapo
04-12-2003, 04:49 PM
If karpo dies i want his mirages comics...even tho knowing how he is he'll take em to his grave, ya can bet on it
And on his tomb it'll say "Karpo, Mirage fan" :p
But snipers are probably practicing nowhere near karpo so he'll live for years to come.

Karpo_007
04-12-2003, 04:52 PM
Hopefully yeah. And the graveyard will be guarded, So do not even think about grave robbing.

Nickokapo
04-12-2003, 04:56 PM
 karpo will have an alarm inside his tomb so that noone will steal the comics.

Karpo_007
04-12-2003, 04:58 PM
But of course!

Nickokapo
04-12-2003, 05:01 PM
Well maybe when you die they'll be worth millions of dollars, and of course you cant let people steal your precious :P
I recommend you to add lazers as well, just in case :)
Now dying with a smile on the face could be pretty hard if you dont know when you're gonna die, but it could be accomplished too :D

Karpo_007
04-12-2003, 05:02 PM
Well if Joker can do it, So can I!

Nickokapo
04-12-2003, 05:06 PM
Yeah...you should use clown paint!
It provides a smile 24-7 :D of course you'd have to take care of the paint not wearing off but at least your mouth wont hurt after smiling for 769 consecutive hours :)
