This might have been posted before, but what can anyone tell me about a TMNT comic series called "Turtle Soup"? :-?

Well for starters there are 2 versions.

One comic was a Mirage special one shot. It had a collection of short stories (comics) of the TMNT. It was pretty much PG-13 level regarding language and violence. It was really cool. The cover had 3 turtles on the back of what might be considered a prehistoric flying bird with one turtle hanging from the leg of this monstrosity.

The other was a 4 issue series by mirage. Each of the four issues contained short story skits as well as 2 or 3 stories that started in issue 1 and dragged out till issue 4.

None of the stories in either turtle soup were in the other. Most of the stories were done by none-Mirage Crew artists.

It's the deeper darker stories in these issues that satiated my morbid imagination and need for adult themed stories when I was changing from boy to man. It was these stories that helped make the transition from Cartoon TMNT to Mirage TMNT. I loved it.

They were all done prior to 1990. I believe maybe even before the first TMNT movie started production.

Yeah, they are nice books. But they also contain few stories by Mark Martin, wich im not very fond of.

My favorite short story had to be that one of Renet climing a mountain wearing just that leopard bikini. ::hubba hubba::

I think my favorite short story was the Hedden/McWeeney one at the end of book one of the miniseries. It had Krang--and the twist at the end was great. :twink:

I forgot to mention that it was in issue 3 of the miniseries. BTW, I also love that one with Krang and the twist ending (I won't spoil it for anyone)!

Was that the story where a kid was playing with TMNT toys or something like that?

Bingo. And his mom was not happy with the mess.

Oh yeah... these are a great set of books. Like professional fan comics guest artists had done. One of my fav was by Michael Gaydos and Dan Berger, as seen thru Donatello, called "Mare of my Existence". Deeep....

I love that one, especially at the end where Splinter takes a look at Don's work.

I have the original Turtle Soup, as well as #1 of volume 2. I think it's awesome to read short stories about the turtles written and drawn by various artists. Always fun to see old characters in a new light. :)

I'd rather find out all about the story with Krang in it. I never thought he was in a mirage comic.

The books have many weird stories that aren't connected to the continuity.
