Gangstarr is the truth

his song battle on the 8 mile soundtrack was amazing.

The first time i heard him was this DMX Dave Mirra freestyle game on ps2. lol.

My exposure to hip-hop has been very limited, but I dig some of the stuff from the '80s like the whole Def Jam thing.

And, I dunno if I should be embarrassed to say this, but I really like Fat Boys. ;p They're so damn fun, singin' about food and sheeit. They've got talent though and a serious love for the genre, so they're far beyond just a novelty act in my opinion.

"Stick 'Em" is such an awesome track with a GREAT video, ha ha! So much fun.

mHoCR7u5NzY

I wanna get their self-titled on CD, but it's long out of print and pretty darn expensive.

Gang Starr is (was) a duo. The "he" you're referring to is Guru, who passed from cancer away last April.

dissiz hip hop man and that won't stop ! ayo bboy gimme ya beat box ! *failed beat box* lawl
uploader should have kept Eminem in it, he spit the best part :

Man, I thought this was supposed to be hip hop, hip hop
I'd rather be fishin' in flip flops, flip flops
Or cross over to country like Kid Rock, did, I
Can't see no country singers beefin' over some guitar
Riff that Willie Nelson lifted from Bob Seger
When I was younger I was so eager
To have a gun I would do the same
Couldn't wait to get to the shootin' range
Me and my man Goofy Gary just tryin' to let loose some steam
Mutha****as laughin' 'cause I couldn't aim
So I'd pull the ****in' target closer and just shoot the thang
I used to have this theory: keep three bullets in the gun
It was a mandatory year up here in Michigan
For each bullet if you got no CCW license
I tried to apply for one, they said it'd take 5-6 months
What the **** am I supposed to do mean time when rivals come?
Hide that sumbitch in the glovebox or inside the trunk
Now, back to what my three-bullet theory was
I'm triple platinum, I ain't tryin' to catch no murder one
Figured I'd shoot to wound, probably miss with at least one
But them other two gon' **** his shoulder and his kneecap up
Then I'ma say it's self defense, how come I had the gun
Was because I was at the range, on my way back from
This dude approached me on some ********
I'd get a year for each bullet at the most
As opposed to havin' a full clip in that
That was my idiotic logic, it was basically for safety
But it gave me power, and it made me crazy
And psychotic, I just got retarded once I got it
Thank God it was empty the night that I got caught with it
What the ****, man I thought that it was supposed to be...hip hip

Old school stuff was pretty good, but like any genre it gets stale before becoming refreshed. And hip hop needs to be freshened up big time. Most of the crap that is popular now is pretty much unlistenable.

Thanks for the mention, deadpoolRKO!

Hip-hop is definitely my genre of choice, alongside chiptunes, electronica, & oldschool punk.

Gangstarr, Big Pun, Jeru Tha Damaja, 90's New York sh*t.

About the only Rap/Hip-Hop I like is Run DMC and old Snoop Dog.

DMX is a lyrical genius, if I were to offer my opinion on rap. I wish he still made music. I think he's a minister or something now. lolololololol

I recently just got into rap. I don't like the lyrics but I love the beat. My favorite rap artists are Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and Lupe Fiasco(he's the only rapper who's lyrics that I like because they have a deep meaning to them).

That's the crazy thing, I dislike Wayne, Drake, Wiz and bunch of other guys on there but actually enjoy them on his tracks (Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones plus Black and Yellow? Genius). Not everything he does is gold though... Soulja Boy's "Pretty Boy Swag" is on that album and still sucks bawls, "Rude Boy" and "Single Ladies" don't exactly cut it either.

peoples should stop givin their money to listen so much douchebag music and stick on REAL RAP, come on lil wayne rapper of the year ? f*ck the world ears.
Old school sounds miss me, the nineties were def the best time for Hip Hop.
We need more rappers like Powder , not Usher.

This dude's ok for a mainstream rapper, and this song has a Ninja Turtles reference in it lol. The beat's actually really good.
