View Full Version : Which TMNT story they MUST tell?

Which TMNT story from the comic or (2K3) series should they must retell in this series?
My first thought that comes to mind is the Shredder Strikes Back where Leo took on all those foot soldier. We saw them tell this story in the actual movie with Raph and then in 2K3. I feel like this story is a story they should also tell in this series.
What stories do you think they should retell?

I'd really like original stories...but...if they did adapt things, I'd love to see them adapt some Archie stuff, since they haven't before.

I would really like to see The River get an adaptation. It is one of my favorite stories. Plus it would be something we haven't seen in animation before. City at War done right would be awesome too. Heck I'd even be down for Tristons Gang War arch

I would actually prefer for them to try something completely different and not just rehash 2K3 storylines.
Though I will admit any comic stories not done in 2K3 would be awesome to see in this series. I agree with pretty much everything Cowabunga Carl said. And I would also love to see "Halls of Lost Legends" animated, but it doesn't really seem like it would fit with the theme of the Nick show from what we have heard.
One character I would really like to see added at some point is Nobody. While not a huge fan of the rest of the Super Hero type characters I always really liked the idea of Nobody because it always seemed to me like it was a brilliant move by the guys to have a friend that's a cop and one of my favorite things about volume 2 of the comics was the fact the character got to take a more active role.

It be hard to do anything Archie since that was based off of OT.

Why, exactly? It distanced it self quite well from the FW series. Have you read some of the comics?

Yeah, same here. I'd prefer it to be all original stuff, but if they were gonna pull other stories I too would like to see something from Archie. They had a good grasp on serious/funny which seems to be the tone of the new show (from what we've read/heard). The storyline with the Aliens & Mikey getting captured comes to mind.

Clearly you read the whole series... :trolleye: C'mon. That's not true.

While it does seem that the Nick cartoon will have moments of relative complexity it seems that overall tone is going to light, funny and irrevant like Don finding experimental governmant tech in a junkyard and Baxter becoming a supervillain after getting fired from his job for being late one time. I doubt The River and particularly City at war fit in with the vibe of the show.

I would like to see Shredder strikes back and return to New York. Love that storyline. I like the Mirage version of it the best. But my only worry is that this ould be the 4th interpretation of it and that mean the story has already been played a lot. Then again Im not sure if I can call the movie one shredder strikes back.BC he struck first
You know what they should of had the 2nd movie as shredder strikes back and Return to NY. Then the third movie could have been set up as CITY AT WAR!!! LOL I need to write storylines lol

I loved Slash too, i thought he was so cool.

made it sound like the only exposure to the FW series was what you saw in Turtles Forever...which isn't 100% accurate.

The way I look at it is we really do know nothing. Sure we have heard murmers here and there. There was a private event where some of our fellow dormers went and saw and then talked about what they liked and didn't. Yet there is nothing been produced for us to see 100% which way this show will go. It is with that reasoning I suggest the stories I did.
Now if the show goes with a lighter tone, then good sir you are right and those stories would not work. However I would like to see them if they do try to keep some edge to the show. I do so hope that they do not try to be edgy for its sake alone though.
When we finaly have the show and can see for certain how they decide to go then this speculation can stop, turning to discustion of the new show instead.

I'd like to see them adapt most of the Eastman & Laird comics plus Return To NY and City at war. Although we have seen a lot of it in the 4 Kids series that was done pretty well there is also probably another generation that hasn't seen it and old turtle fans who never watched the 2k3 show because "it sucked" or something along those lines. The river would be good I agree with that, I am sure there are a few other stories that could be adapted as well.
I think it would be really cool if they adapted issue 1 in a 2 part episode or something and try to do as much as they can for a kids show. That would be cool imo. Although maybe they wouldn't want to reveal to much of the story to early who knows....

I'm really fond of stories like Adventures in Turtle-Sitting/Good Genes, where one of the Turtles is somehow disabled and the other three have to do something without him and they see how important that member is to their team work. It's easy to see why Leo and Don would be important, so that's why I want them to disable Mike and Raph, so Leo and Don would be in a situation they'd really need to have Mike with them, or Raph. Although they can manage themselves in the end of course, it just would be good to know how much of an asset it would be to have a particular Turtle with them.

The only problem I see is that TMNT was only suppose to be a oneshot issue, if I recall correctly.

Yup, i just love the to be continued arcs that leave you at the edge of your seats. I remember the 90's X-Men toon did this, i couldn't wait back then to watch the next episode. Justice League did this, 2K3 did this. It was great, they all had great stories.

They've made it clear it clear from the start the show would have a more comedic tone. The fans that went to the Nick event have relayed specific informarion on some of the concepts, backstory and plots that they will feature in the show.
We've also had their detailed description of an animatic which if I've interpreted correctly will be made into an episode. That in itself is a fair amount to make a judgement on the tone of the show and the characters and their world.
Now this could be misleading, afterall basing the show on one episode isn't that wise. Afterall if we showed say...The Unconvincing Turtle Titan to someone who's never watched the 2k3 show they'd get the wrong impression of what the show was about but it's not like we have zero to make a judgement on.

The thing is it could even vary episode to episode, I mean look at 2k3. Some episodes where rather off the wall and goofy while others were down right scary or serious.

My point being is that until something airs as the finished product and we can see more then one episode it is hard to tell what tone this will take. Offten times the first season is all over the place and it isn't tell the second season we get the actual tone of something. Like was stated, if you showed someone the Turtle Titan episode it would give them the impresion that the last show was goofy and campy. That wasn't the case. I guess I've just reached the point I want to speculate and answer questions like this for fun. Untill the show actually comes out I'm not going to try and say it is going to be one way or another.

I hope they stay away from adapting comic stories, we've been there and done that with the 23k show, let's do something different, the original series went 10 years without adapting squat.

I would like a mix. There are plenty of stories left to tell that 2k3 didn't tuch or that they changed enough that this new show could tell the same story but be enough different that it wouldn't be exactly the same.

You know what would be really nice to see, but I don't think it will happen, is for Nick to do what DC and Marvel are doing. Make animated movies of storylines. They could market them to the older crowd. It would be great. The show for the youngsters and the DTV movies for the older group.

If the comics sell well enough and they see a viable market for an older crowd anything could happen.
It really all comes down to what will make them money.

Well not certain which universe we are talking about or if it's just Turtles in general but just about the only thing of interest that came out of the Garbageman episode of 2k3 was it set up a viable way for the guys to get a lot of things. They scavenge from the dump and then the homeless people would look for items they wanted for them and the Turtles would kind of barter by bringing the homeless people blankets and things.
Also in Mirage volume 2 we see April going shopping and asking the guys for their list of items they need. Leading me to believe that April and Casey probably do a lot to support the boys too later in life.
If you watched the 2k3, they visited the garbage dump quite a few times. They also have talked about the turtles having jobs in the cgi movie.
You guys want the weirdest things in the movies.

There are so many stories and some that have already been told that would be awesome to see. But as some have said here in this thread, if Nick goes younger with the show I don't know. I was reading an article somewhere about the amount of good food both restaurants and grocery stores throw out on a daily basis. I could see Splinter having a routine down probably having different places he visited everyday so that the boys would actually have a rather varied diet.

I liked the early Spongebob eps, where Spongebob came across as an adult who's moved out on his own and trying to learn how to live on his own. Holding down a job while going to the boating school to work on his license. After that premise was dropped, it just got strange/stupid. Even Patrick wasn't all that stupid in the beginning. It's like how in later eps of Rugrats, I think the writers seemed to forget that Chuckie was older than Tommy, Phil, and Lil and treated him as a baby too. Chuckie's character should've been more so with Angelica and Suzie's group since he was in between. Funny, even when the series started, he had a full mouth of teeth (like Angelica because he was two). Later eps, they ditched that and gave him a bottle. ><

Mostly anything from the comics is welcome minus the Justice Force crap and some of the weird guest artist stories as well.
As far at TMNT goes, one of my favorite episodes is "Same As It Never Was". It's kind of a "what if" future scenario but it's awesome. Mike has one arm. Splinter is dead. April and everyone is old. Shredder and Karai kill everyone including the turtles. It's dark and a neat vision to see. Kinda like "Days of Future's Past" in the X-men series. I think it's funny how Raph loses his eye in almost every re-telling of the future. I would like to see an actual cool time travel arc like this or the Archie version and not any of that Fast Forward sillyness.
