This is my first larger scale custom. Normally I work exclusively in 3 3/4" scale with GI Joes but a friend asked for a Slash to go with his other Turtles and I obliged.

And darn it all if I'm not super bummed to have to give it away! I really like the way it turned out. I sculpted the yellow eye and the jagged teeth as well as the spikes on his elbow and knee pads. The shell, hand blades, shoulder pads, belt and mace are all repurposed from the original Playmates Slash. A solid oaintjob really makes those pieces look great.

His swords and sheaths came from the NECA Leo that I used as the base figure. I gave him a subtle dry brush all over and there you have it. Comments and critiques welcome!

Looks great! I'm really impressed by your appropriation of the shell from the old Playmates toy, too. I kinda suck at sculpting, so I'll have to remember that trick if I ever decide to make a Slash. :)

Can't wait to see your Shredder! :D

Getting the shell to fit took A LOT of dremel work. Getting it to stay on was another beast. I tried to just dremel the oegs inside the shell to line up with the torso but that was much easier said than done. I ended up using Green Stuff (a two part sculpting compound (actually made for plumbing! (I don't know how common it is in the Turtle world--very commonly used over in Joe land))) to build the plug on in the shell to fit the one on his back, inserted it, let it cure overnight and BOOM: instant seal.

Also, my sculpting has improved exponentially (which isn't saying much, really) since I bought a small sculpting kit from Games Workshop. Just three double sided sculpting tools with different "blades" and edges.

Pretty good, I like the paint job and overall look. His yellow eye is sitting too far up on his head though, in relation to the white one, they should be level with one another.

I agree with Patraw but I'm still very impressed.
