Neca-Style Shredder

'Sup guys, I'm working on a Neca-style Mirage Shredder right now and thought I'd post my original version in the meantime.

It's actually pretty hard for me to look at this now, it was made nearly 3 years ago and doesn't look great. Anywhoo, some of you might get a kick out of it...

He's a Marvel Legends Yellowjacket with a Doc Strange torso. The head's a plasticard/apoxie combo and the armour is plasticard with an apoxie skin, and the blades set in.

I saw this on deviantart a while back. I remember thinking that it was the closest thing to the Neca Shredder I've seen customized. If you're working on another I can't wait to see it.

Oh so modest, DG! I still think that Shredder is pretty awesome -- and I remain incredibly impressed with the work you put into the blades. I had enough trouble with the gauntlets on mine, and that only involved minor sculpting and glueing down some toothpicks. :P

From the waist down it's going to use the same parts as my previous version (except the feet), but I wanted the upper body to be bigger and more imposing. All the sculpting's done, now it's just a matter of assembling the armour, and painting. I'm hoping to have him done this weekend...

That is some nice work. I wish I had the talent to do things like that. The only custom I have done was making Michaelangelo a custom nunchaku.
I used a paper clip and the original handles that was once the weapon. I drilled holes where the rubber was placed and I superglued the paper clip between each handle. It is much more durable than the other nunchaku now.

Recipe is as follows:

Head is LCBH Madman, torso is SOTA Vega, legs are ML Captain Marvel, feet are ML She-Hulk with ankle joints from LCBH Witchblade, hands are DCUC Red Tornado, arms are from 2 Toybiz TNA wrestlers, sash is from ML Elektra. Armour is plasticard & apoxie.

The only parts with no mods are the biceps. The shoulder armour is mounted onto 2 rods that run through the shoulder (lost a little movement, but it looks better than mounting them onto the torso). Luckily, when I made my last Shredder I made a set of blades that were too big - I kept those and was able to use them for this custom, which saved me a sh*tload of time.

So yeah. Enjoy...

Both look good, but the latter one is REALLY cool. Too bad you lost some articulation on shoulders, but blades do look good that way.

You did it! I can't say that I'm too surprised as I know you were capable, but this Shredder looks even better than your previous attempt! This is fine work, and seeing that you've posted the recipe I think I might give this a shot myself... that is if I can have your blessing ;)

Don't have any more TMNT-related projects in the works - it's mostly gonna be Marvel stuff for ebay...

I don't know - I made him for ebay (I'm trying desperately to get some cash for the big comic-con over here next month), but I'm not sure I can bear to part with him - I've had him on my desk and I just can't keep my hands off him, he's so much fun to play with, which I never do with customs normally.

At the same time, I don't know if I could make another - this had so much work (8 days straight of 8-10 hours) that I think it'll be a long time before I do another Mirage Shredder...

Well dude, you did one HELL of a good job with this custom work. I love seeing how much improvement was made over the older one which was none too shabby itself. I know parting with these suckers can suck sometimes, (I made a movie God-Skeletor I still kinda regret selling)... BUT the great thing is, your next attempt... (no... **** that) SUCCESS will be even more of an improvement still. You'll get him to that point of perfect.

The way I look at it is, if I'm on the fence about selling a custom but not sure, then his ass is getting sold. Of course now I'm beggining to make two of every custom I produce lol.
