All the casuals are revolting on the TMNT facebook fan page 'cause Nick put some more promo art out. "You're ruining my childhood!" Boo hoo.
The TMNT design was brought up a few times, for better or for worse, and since both are/weren't so well received, I wondered which you guys preferred? I personally like the look of these new guys muuuuuch better than that of the 2007 movie.

I liked the 2007 movie look a lot and I don't understand how anyone had a problem with it. The movie plot itself I understand, but the designs themselves were great.
Since this series obviously doesn't have the budget of a movie I am fine with this look. I just hope the animation is done well especially in fight scenes.

imo TMNT is above and beyond Nick's designs. much less cutesy, far more detail. Need to see the Nick turtles in motion though im sure ill get used to them once that happens

Seeing all those comments really made me take a step back and just shake my head. Are people really this dumb? Saying things like ''TMNT R.I.P'' and'' You're ruining my childhood'' makes you sound like a freakin' idiot. Is this how we act sometimes? If so, Im sorry. I do realize these people are not true fans but come on.
Maybe Im not hard to please or maybe Im just a fanboy but I really don't see the issue with this. It's a CHILDRENS television show being played on Nick. The designs of the turtles are not perfect but everyone is going to have an opinion. And they do. Suddenly everyone is a fan and Nick just ruined the lives of all those people. Gimme a break.

I like the new design from Nick a lot more then Imagi's TMNT design.
They are both fine designs and the TMNT07 turtles looks agile and able to pull off the stunts they do. But, the Nick designs looks short and slightly stockier but still able to do intense fight scenes, which in my opinion looks better and more "ninja turtleish"

Wait. Are we hating on 'casuals' now? Is that a thing?
I don't care either way but it's kinda funny that TMNT fans have this elitist attitude about them all of a sudden. "He's a character from the mirage comic...You've probably never heard of him."

Dude! They look absolutely awesome! Don looks a little skinny, though. But once I saw the picture of Leonardo, I was like, "Whooooaaa.." These guys look better than the 2k7 designs. Still, I love the 2k7 designs. I'd save them for the new movie or something. Overall, I like them both, but this looks like the real deal here. I think I might have found a new avatar.:tgrin:

Whataya know. My new avatar looks cool. You guys should think about using those images for your avatars, too.:tsmile:
Anyway, I've read the comments on facebook. Is everything going to be like this for now on? Does everybody have to say, "They're ruining my childhood!" or "I feel like I've been raped!" everytime a new incarnation of a franchise is released? At least the turtles look better than Yogi Bear or Alvin and the Chipmuncks! These people should get a grip. The reason why there's a reboot because TMNT is popular. Nick wants to keep it alive for the new generation. I swear to God: I hate it when they say that the 2k3 series was better! The 2k3 series was floundering by the end and no one seemed to care about it as much as they decided to see the 2k7 film! Sometimes I wonder, am I right or wrong? Should I like the 2k3 series and join in to say, "I'm going to hate this series!"? Should I be forced to hate this?:tconfuse:
They say reboots stink. Really? The new Thundercats show is a reboot, and that is a pretty dang good series. Plus, I wonder if the OT fans must have been like, "My childhood memories have been molested" when they read about the 2k3 series. Face it. They can't deal with change. I don't like change, too, but I'm willing to take risks to try the new. I'm giving this a shot, and I'm probably going to come out loving it.:twink:
This is TMNT, people! Not Justin Bieber or Twilight crap!:tmad:
Anyway, do you guys agree?

As one of the people that got to see everything up close I've got to say I think the show its self will be fine.
That said I stated that I didn't like them doing cg instead of 2d from the start.
It's not so much because I hate cg I think Pixar is amazing but this looked liked unfinished Nintendo 64 art back in the summer when stuff was shown and it's not really changed all that much.
The major issue I have with it is the movement and how they seem to be made of jelly or rubber.
I honestly think little kids will enjoy the show.
Older fans? I don't know really as each of you are different types of people.
As you can see I've personally got mixed feelings on it all.
I've also got mixed feeling on the new comic, the art decent, Kevin Eastman being around is beyond fantastic, and mutant gotta love that.
My gripe with that well it's missing something and so far I'm not all that into the story.

These people are making ridiculous comments. We haven't seen anything yet NIck is being pooped on by everyone on FB.
These kind of ''fans'' pop in and out every once in a while. Last time was in 2007 when we were getting the new movie. And they complained then too.

It's the internet. Every facebook page on anything is filled with hate don't even get started on youtube.
Of course there are going to be more eyes on TMNT now because something is actually happening. Don't act like you're a better fan or whatever just because TMNT is always on your mind.

Dude, seriously? I hardly ever see you post in Tmnt sections on this board and you come here with an attitude. Give it a rest.
I realize everywhere has hate, but the vast majority of the comments are just ridiculous statements and it's just funny to sit and watch it unfold. These designs have been out for what, 6 months already? And they are freakin' out now?

Honestly, the more that I see the new designs, the more I like 'em. (Personally still having a bit of trouble getting used to the whole "three toes on the boys" thing, but I have to admit it's growing on me, and it will pass, eventually. Hey, we're getting a new TMNT series less than 5 years after the 2k3 one ended! What's to gripe about, anyway?!)
And guys, I think we all know that people are gonna gripe about anything that comes out, whether it's TMNT or My little Pony: Friendship is Magic (over on the Hub Network, and which I'm getting into WAY too deep, obsession-wise, given my age. But hey, I love horses. So sue me.:twink::trazz:), or the latest Transformers; etc.; flick. The best thing to do (for all us longtime, hardcore TMNT fans anyway) is to just ignore them; they'll go away eventually. Besides, you just couldn't please SOME people if you hung 'em with a brand-new rope (as they say in my neck of the woods).
As for arguing with them; well, personally, I follow this policy/philosophy:
Never fight a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
Makes sense, no?:twink::twink:

It's between the Nick designs, and TMNT (the 2007 movie) designs, not the cartoons. & yes a lot of idiots on facebook want exactly that.

I thought TMNT looked like ass so I'm more then happy with the Nick look if it was a choice between those two. Still the Nick look has nothing on 2K3 or most of the other designs they've had over the decades.
Casual fans bitching that this new series won't be a carbon copy of the old one can **** off. Their childhoods mean dick to me and should mean dick to whoever is creating the new series. If any of them actually bothered to go back and watch the old series they'd probably remember it a lot less fondly.
Just because you bought a hat with Mikey's face on it doesn't mean you know **** about turtles, their history, or how they should be portrayed. The OT is probably the worst portrayal of the real turtles next to Next Mutation and Coming out of their Shells. It's not about being a better fan it's about actively following something for decades.
I wouldn't presume how a new Star Wars movie should be just because I liked them as a kid. Not qualified to make any statements about it because my Star Wars knowledge is limited. I'm also a decade out of the target market anyways. The new series is for this generations kids, not us.

Its a shame the Nick show won't have the same budget as the movie, (although that's perfectly understandable), because the animation in the 4th movie was easily the best part about it.

I'll admit when I first heard Nick had bought TMNT I went through a faze of "That's it, TMNT is ruined. I'm done." I really thought about walking away and never look back. Then when I had thought about it I realized I wouldn't have to watch any of the new stuff, read the new comics. I'd always have the old comics, my old DVD's.
Then they started releasing images and people were invited to events and started talking about things. I started reading comments and stories. Realizing they at least respected what came before and took the time to get to know the community and what made TMNT grate.
The new designs at first looked a little off. Something about them bugged me. Then I knew what it was, I really had liked the style of the 2k3 toon. That was my favorite look for the guys. I was comparing them. Overall now though I'm digging the new look.
I think with the tone we have heard Nick wants to go the designs work. I'm not sold 100% on them but I can't say that I hate them either. I can't make a good call on them until I see them in the context of the show.

Sorry about that. I've just got to the point of defending the new designs based on the concept of us not having seen them in context. Out of the new design or the TMNT design I'd say based on images alone I'd have to go with liking the TMNT design more. To me they just looked more realistic.

Here's the truth. When I heard Nick was going to own it, I was like, "NOOOOOO! It's going to be with Spongebob! How dare they!:tmad:" During that time, I knew about a show called Big Time Rush: four guys in a boy band who acted idiotic in the stupidest of situations. I hated that show. So I was not that happy. It made me worried that the turtles were going to be portrayed like this.
Then I watched The Penguins of Madagascar, and I immediately placed that at the top of favorite Nickelodeon show since Drake and Josh and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Then I realized, it was Nick that put out Avatar. Also, these penguins seemed to resemble the turtles a little bit. So that's when I realized, "Hey. Maybe this is a good sign.":tsmile:
4Kids was going nowhere with their new episodes of Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers. Plus, I didn't really like that show that much. Sorry Cowabunga Carl: the way the turtles were drawn on that show disturbed me. I didn't like seeing their expressions that way, and Leo's freaked me out a lot. As for Splinter, his teeth creeped me out. Plus, I haven't been into the OT recently, but I felt that Turtles Forever put the Fred Wolf turtles to shame. They treating them as if they were stupid. Last time I checked, the OT turtles were never stupid to begin with. Why now? It's like they made them as a joke for the whole episode. They didn't get the respect they deserved that others give them today.:tsad: So I was glad 4Kids was done with this, and I was also glad that Laird sold them to a company that's very successful and commercial.
Thanks to Nickelodeon, I'm loving the designs. The turtles have eyeballs again, the foot-wrappings are cool, and I'm getting used to the third toe. Face it. What else can I say? They look fantastic! Also, with Nick, I'd like to thank them for helping out releasing more merchandise. So far, I've bought three shirts of these green dudes: "Ninjas do it in the dark," Leo's face, and one with all four on them I got yesterday. So, I must say, Nick is pleasing me so far. I can't wait to see what happens next.:tgrin:
As for the designs: somebody please find images of Splinter, April, and the Shredder!:thyper:

I prefer the Nick design over the 2K7 design. I'm not sure why, but for some reason, the TMNT design always seemed a bit too 'froggy' to me. I'm not saying I don't like the TMNT design, I do like it, I just think the Nick look is growing on me more.

It looks to me like Nick pushed the "make them look Xtreme" button. These designs scream at me with their vivid colors, and their vibrant intensity. Michelangelo especially seems to have something of an "in your face," kind of design. Feel free to disagree with me, because there is no way I can really prove any of that, I'm just articulating my feelings about it as best I can.
I always wondered why the TMNT turtles had such big forearms. They also looked a little, um, froggish. Raphael in particular. But I think that, for what TMNT was, it worked.
That said, I enjoy seeing how each new person or group or whatever that handles the TMNT brings a uniqueness to their design while still keeping them basically the same. The subtle differences highlight something of the personality of the medium they're coming from. The next mutation altering each turtles mask and trappings slightly seems to mirror the fact that Saban tried to do something new and different with the turtles. 4kids' had several stylistic things thrown in to make it seem more like the original comics, say for example the pupil-less eyes when their masks where on. The original cartoon series tried to make the TMNT more kid friendly, making them more colorful and less edgy.
Now, which of the two do I prefer? I dunno. TMNT seems to be calmer and truer, if I may say so, to the ideal turtle design, while Nick seems anxious to re-invent a property that just became theirs. I like both, but I guess I would have to lean on the TMNT side of the argument. The nick designs, while cool, just makes me think they are trying too hard... just my opinion.
Slap-Happy

I'd say the TMNT designs are probably a little too safe. They really didnt want to change the designs drastically.
I think these new designs look is great, and IMO it looks very cool wih the changes Nick has made.
