View Full Version : TMNT Fan-Made RPG (Video Game)

Ok, I was looking on the net one time, and came across some TMNT-based character sets for the RPG Maker 2000 program. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a PC program (far superior to the PlayStation version) that allows you to create role-playing games similar in style to the old Final Fantasy, Ultima, and Dragon Warrior games. Basically, SNES-caliber RPGs--well, this allows for a little more advanced stuff--namely a lot more space to work with, and the capabilities to add videos and such. Character sets are the little graphics of the characters that walk around onscreen. So I was wondering if anyone was doing a fan-RPG based on TMNT? I'd like to do it, had I the time. If anyone is, plans to, or would like to make one, or knows someone who is making one, please post it here. Also, any thoughts on this would be welcome, as I think it's a good idea.

Any other thoughts? I think it would be a really good idea. I have the character sets--Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, Slash, April, Tokka, Mouser, Rahzar, Foot Soldier, and Casey Jones. To give you some idea of what they look like, some of them seem like they were based on the old profile pictures from the official site. The Turtles, Slash, April, and the Foot Solider all have the same color scheme they did on those pictures. Casey is without his mask. Of course, they are in the style of old 2D RPG sprites, but that has its own charm. And the sprites can of course be edited in programs such as Paint. The RPG Maker 2K program is very user-friendly, and you need no knowledge of programming to make a game. Like I said, I'd do it if I had the time--at the moment I could only do a partial game--given 72 hours devoted purely to making the game, I could perhaps manage a four-hour game. But if anyone wants to try, I could try finding the link to where I got the sets.

I would like to help make one, but i could never get the RPG maker to work right. when ever i tried to make it go from one frame to the other it woulden't let me.
But if someone does make it, i woulden't mind playing it ^_^.

One frame to the other? Do you mean the character walking animations?

No, i mean when you walk to the edge of one map square, it won't let me go on to the other.

I made a few on RPG2K..I only got half way on a LOTR: FOTR one, and then quit. I was starting to make a TMNT one, but it was too...weird..

Yeah--that's the kinda thing I was wondering about--too bad it never got anywhere. But I still think it could be done--and done well--if given the proper attention. Perhaps it would take a team of people. In fact, if enough people with enough know-how and talent on this board were interested, I think a TMNT RPG could be made via the internet--if certain people took on certain aspects of the design, and shared their work with one another, finally assembling it all into one heckuva TMNT fan RPG! ...Of course, it could be completely unfeasible and turn out absolutely horrible, uncoordinated, and eventually perhaps even unfinished, but who knows? If only I knew enough people who would be into designing it, I'd take a shot at it myself, but as it stands I don't know anyone who'd be willing to work on it.

I nominate Karpo to work on translating the comics to an RPG story :D .
We would pry need a couple of programmers, and a couple of people to make the level lay outs...
Heck, we should just start a new development team: Technodrome Games.

i would be very interested. RPG Maker never worked on my 'puter though, and i suck with paint programs so i couldn't do it on PSX. if you need any help with the game design though, drop me a line.

:-? I am confused. I first though that an RPG was just a type of video game (Like Final Fantasy). Then my friend told me about Dungeons and Dragons, which is just a rule book and you make up the whole game. most of you know what I'm talking about. Now you guys are telling me that its like computer program? I is so confused. *crosses eyes and shakes head*
will someone explain to the poor hobbit?
RPG is short for Role Playing Game. It can be applied to some video games, old dice and stat games, the RP story games we play on the forums, and a few other types. It's a general term for any type of game in which you take on the persona of another person or persons and play out a story as that character.

I already understood all that, but why was Casey Jones saying that he was making an RPG on his computer?
