Not that it's been a hot topic as of late, but I remember quite a few of you griping about the casting of Jason Biggs as Leo. Yes I know he fu**ed a pie in American Pie, and yes I know he's mostly known for his roles in comedy movies. But have you looked any of Leo's other voice actors lately?

Cam Clarke - Not that I know him, but from watching his interviews and according to interviews with his cast mates: hilarious guy.

His other roles include Rocksteady, a Squishy Bear on Eek the Cat and a freakin' California Raisin.

And not knocking the guy, but if we're gonna make a big deal over a dick in the pie... just remember that Cam did voices for Hentai movies at one point.

Brian Tochi - My personal favorite Leo voice... I haven't seen any interviews with him, but a guy who was cast in Revenge of the Nerds and two Police Academy sequels has got to be a little goofy.

Michael Sinterniklaas - Ever seen this guy at a convention panel? He's a riot. I don't know how many of you know this, but he went to the TMNT audition expecting to get the role of Mikey (which reminds me, Mr. Clarke was almost gonna be Michaelangelo in the OT). Not to mention he was Wayne Grayson's "burp double" for Mikey.

Aaaand there's this lol.

James Arnold Taylor - Even though he was a pretty well received Leo, I'm not too crazy about this guy (plus I think I've proven my point), so I'll just go with his other roles.

Guy Gardener, Johnny Test, Peter Parker, Wooldoor from Drawn Together, Ratchet, and voice doubles for David Spade. Yeah.

---

So I think we can sleep soundly now, and trust Biggs with the fearless leader, even if you think he's a Pie screwing dweeb.

Actors are "actors" for a reason, and it's pretty essential that they get as wide a range in their talent as possible. More opportunities, more money.

Rest assured, Leonardo won't be screwing a pie in the new series just because Biggs is his voice actor. His voice is actually quite nice.

I'm definitely not upset about Biggs voicing Leo. I feel he'll do a wonderful job, and it'll be good for him to branch out in this series. I'm all for it.

I honestly don't understand why anyone is getting really upset about anything until we see the finished product??

Because people love to come to conclusions about things before they see them. It's pretty standard procedure.

I love Mike Sinterniklaas as Leo's voice actor. To me, he is Leonardo. I just prefer his voice.

I know he's done other things that have not been as flattering. In fact, here's something I wouldn't have ever known if it had not been pointed out to me by other fans. Mike S was in a little known film called Flesh for the Beast. He played character Martin Shelley.

I didn't even realise the new voice of Leo is that guy from American pie.
I can't imagine Leonardo with his voice but we'll see.

I get that a lot of people do that, I just don't see the logic in it :twink:

Don't forget he also played Snoopy a couple of times. Amazing how it's nearly the same Leo voice, but a completely different character you totally believe in.

some actors who have a reputation for something set people off. How many people would have taken it in stride if it was announced that Carrot Top or Gilbert Gottfried was doing the voice for Michelangelo?

just remember that Cam did voices for Hentai movies at one point.

OMG, What? Titles?

Mike Sinterniklaas did voice Phoenix Wright in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. The Ace Attorney franchise did thrive on serious courtroom drama and anime style slapstick.

Lest no forget that James Arnold Taylor's best known roles include Tidus from Final Fantasy X and Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars Clone Wars series.

I'm sure Jason Biggs can play a serious character like Leonardo well. If not, his audition wouldn't have gone well or he had a very convincing agent.

I just saw American Pie recently...oh my God...I do not think I can take Leo seriously in this version. :-?

Hey, just remember that American Pie is very different from TMNT. I think Biggs will do a great job as Leo, and I can't wait to hear him voice the character. I saw him on Live with Kelly this morning and was just waiting for him to say something about TMNT, but he didn't.

I won't complain until i get to see something.

Yeah some of them I really don't like, but that doesn't mean I won't love their voice as a character.

Indeed. I liked Biggs in "Loser" (no, seriously), but I don't know if I'm ready to accept the "American Pie" kid as Leo. (If you're more blue, use Jay's term for him in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.") Ironically, any other Turtle, I wouldn't have as much as a problem, as they are allowed to be less serious than Leo. Then again, the other Leo voice actors have done comedy, so there is that as tradition. And I'll obviously wait until I can hear him, etc.

Clarke did Hentai? Oh, my. And, hey, he did Gatchaman in "G-Force: Guardians of Space," his character (Joe the Condor) named as "Dirk Daring." Which, upon reflection, sounds like something a porn star would use. Hmm.

Article by Jason Biggs about being "The Pie Guy". Funny stuff.

Don't forget Cam Clarke was also He-Man in the 2002 relaunch, and even voiced Aladdin in a Golden Films short film coming out while Disney's was in production. He has a nice, noble tone suitable for the "hero" character in a five-man band setup. But by also doing bully-type roles such as Rocksteady is a nice talent here.

Brian Tochi gives Leo a bit more of an Asian touch for a more authentic "ninja-training" feel that Leonardo is the most willing of out of the turtles, and suits the live action version nicely.

Michael Sinterniklaas, being more of an anime VA then the others, also can take the ninja element fine, but sounds less goofy and suits the darker tone of the series well. But he's still a funny man and enjoys going to comic-cons more than any other Leo.

I can't say much about Jason Arnold Taylor, but given the Leo vs. Raph plot, does a decent job with Leo.

It's still too early to call with Jason Biggs, as it is still somewhat depenedent on what Andrea Romano does with Leo's character. (It's ironic that its Jason Biggs vs. Leonardo DiCaprio at the box office this weekend! Then again, I saw a Teen Win, Lose or Draw episode from 1990 where the host made a "like the Ninja Turtle" pun on him!)

meh, he's got a pretty non-descript voice which is a good thing IMO. thats why i cant stand dreamworks voice acting decisions most times.

I never cared for Brian Tochi, he made Leo sound too wimpy to taken seriously at times. He was a much better Yoku.
