How did Usagi end up with his own figure line? Was he spun off from TMNT or something? I had no idea of this.

Actually, he was his own Comic before he was used in the TMNT...

Yep, and it's currently an ongoing series. I guess the old TMNT cartoon didn't curse that Bunny. I picked up a Wizard magazine, the TMNT and Usagi comics are a few of Brian Micheal Bendis' favorite comic lines.

How'd he end up in TMNT then? Wow, this is a whole new aspect of the show I had no idea existed.

He was just a crossover in the TMNT line, I'm sure Stan Saki is friends with easman and laird, and they were talking on day, next thing you know, Usagi/TMNT is born!

Well, good news then for any fans of Usagi here! According to the letters column of the new (#10) ish of TMNT, Peter has recently talked to Stan and our fave Samurai Bunny may appear in the new toon as early as next season! Peter also hinted that hopefully we would get a new Playmates version of him! (Um, Usagi, not Peter...Although a Peter action figre would be cool...i'd settle for the sergeant from the show with his likeness...anyway, I digress.) Oh, I do have that action figure (the one with the standard blue tunic on the orange card)-he's a great little action figure, and I display him with my new turtles! (Hey, and if you haven't read usagi's title, I recommend picking up a copy.) (P.S. Did you know that Stan Sakai worked on the early Masters of the Universe mini-comics alongside Animated Batman Series brain Bruce Timm? Funfact for you!)

Go on the forums there, Stan Sakai posts quite often. The TMNT/Usagi crossover for the new show is now no longer a rumor, it's happening. And USAGI is getting a new figure for the new line!!

I love Usagi Yojimbo, I have almost as many (original run) Usagi books as I do TMNT, I love them as my childrens.. Great stuff!

I bought the Usagi figure off eBay after I ran out of new TMNT to buy. He's nice, a little short, but after you consider his ears he's taller than the Turtles. He fit's in nice with the TMNT line.
