So this is my first stab at doing a custom figure. I based my color scheme and proportions (loosely) on the 87 toon foot soldiers.

I used a Magnetic Spider-Man Figure as the base figure.

Like i said, this was my first try making a custom, so let me know if you have any tips that would help future endevours.

FYI, i am going to go over it with a little more paint, there are a few rough patches. Also i realize the hands are a bit awkward, but unfortunately thats all i had today.

It's a bit rough, but good customs take practice. The potential is definitely there. Foot Soldier customs are always fun in my opinion.

For some reason today i just really got into the mood to do this. Unfortunately the only apoxie type stuff i had laying around was "Mighty Putty". It was much harder to sculpt than i had imagined due to the putty's consistency combined with my inexperience.
If anyone has a good apoxie they like, please let me know. I have another spiderman figure and i might try a foot soldier again next week, just not with Mighty Putty.

Well, I think you could've sanded some of the webbing away, especielly on hands, since they are supposed to be bare. Otherwise it seems pretty good for a first custom.

I like to use Aves sculpt. It dries very hard and adheres to whatever you stick it to, you only have about 2 hours to sculpt with it though so I use small amounts at a time. I like your custom Foot Soldier the texture from the spider man figure looks really cool on the legs but I would consider switching out the hands, another tip is if you had another movie spider man figure you could have pressed the spider man figures leg against the mighty putty and it would imprint the intricate details onto the mighty putty where you added for where his pants meet his boots. Very cool idea for a figure though and great first try at a custom figure.
