Holly cow dude. I could look at your setup all day! This is by far one of the better displays I've ever seen. I love how you took time to put sewer piping up, and the brick background. Uber cool!

I've probably asked this before, but where in Ohio are you located? I'm just past Kings Island; North of Cincinnati.

You've done a stellar job displaying your gear, my dude. Well done!

I think I might need to be pinched. Your collection is spectacular and very well displayed.

Where or when did you get the individual turtle posters that you have hanging on the closet doors. Those are neat and I've never seen them before.

Another love of my childhood is the goonies. These were obviously the only ones produced. I wish they would have completed the whole cast

Thanks Guys! Yes I made it a long time ago now. It was a pain and took forever but the end result worked out well

I also made those myself... Didnt do the artwork though. Used the original art, scaled them, and had them printed.

And this is the newest cel in my collection! Not TMNT but another favorite from growing up

I have added quite a bit to my collection since my last update in November and I will get around to posting those updates eventually. What I wanted to update right now was my Comic Haul over the last 2 weeks. A huge part of my collection was lacking - the comics. I had many Adventures from growing up and in 2001 I went after volume 4 (not even all of them) but that was about it.

Now having decided to finally go after the comics I couldnt help myself....
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/DSC00938_zps9507324e.jpg?t=1371322504

These are NOT all from one source - I hunted around and a big thank you to Archon and Klunk for the pieces I obtained from you. The picture above does not include duplicates or my Adventures - these are all just what I obtained in the last 2 weeks.

It includes:
Volume 1:
1-62 (1-4 are various printings and 5-62 are first)

Volume 2:
Issue 1

Volume 3:
1-23

Volume 4:
1-28

Tales V2:
1-69 (missing 39, 41, 70)

Specials:
Turtle Soup
Turtle Soup 1-4
Maltese Turtle
Haunted Pizza
Leonardo Micro
Donatello Micro
Michelangelo Micro
Leonardo Blind Side 1, 3, 4
Raphael Bad Moon 1, 3
Flaming Carrot 1 & 2
Full Color Issue 1 (2009)
Movie Adaptation (2007)

Quite a haul overall and I didnt stop there - I ordered lots of random missing items from MirageLicensing and I expect it'll be here in a few weeks. Included in that lot will be:

Volume 2:
2-13

Tales V2:
2, 7, 25, 51

Specials:
Leonardo Blindside 2
Raphael 2 & 4
Michelangelo Third Kind 2-4
Donatello Brain Theif 2-4
Fugitoid
Fugitoid/Gizmo 1 & 2
Green-Grey Sponge-Suit Sushi Turtles
Casey Jones & Raphael
Casey Jones 1 & 2

So I have a ton of updates which have accumulated from christmas until now - although I think I am still leaving some things out, this should be most of what I have gotten since december (not in purchase order).

The Tick Statue - He's such a hilarious character and I always enjoyed when humor was combined with Superheros.
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00951_zpsb8dd858d.jpg

Brutal Legend Collection - In particular the most recent addition is the book "The Art of Brutal Legend." It's awesome to page through and what I have read so far has been enjoyable. My buddy picked this up for my Birthday at the PAX convention in Boston earlier this year and had the game creator, Tim Schafer sign it to me! One of the best gifts ever.
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00949_zpsfeb34e2e.jpg

Veriatis TMNT Michaelangelo Statue - What a PAIN this has been. A brief history here - 2 years ago I ordered Leo, Donny, and Raph and they came in a somewhat timely fashion. Within a few months Mikey was sculpted and I wanted to complete the set. Purchase was made May 2012 - yes, a year and one month ago and he just came at 11am today. Im just glad Im not out $175 anymore and the set is complete! Painting should start on all 4 this year eventually. For those of you wondering I customized that Shredder to be movie accurate (not done yet) and the green statue to his left is the UNMASKED Raph -unpainted. Another project for me :)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00947_zps31fe7a38.jpg

Nick TMNT Area Rug - I was hunting for this forever! I haven't seen more than one other dromer post they got this and I recommend everyone get it. I bought 2 because once I redo my room eventually it will be much larger and have 2 entrances. In the words of Walter Sobchak (The Big Lebowski) - That rug really tied the room together, did it not?
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00943_zps04d305fa.jpg

TMNT Fan Blades - these guys arent hung yet and again once my new room is worked on these guys will certainly cool the room down even though it'll be "cool" already ;)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00952_zps051e431c.jpg

Nick TMNT Collection - Its not huge but it includes pieces I love. Eventually I may comeplete other parts of it but this is all I wanted right now. Listed below are particulars
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00944_zps9c78a52e.jpg

Leonardo
Donatello
Raphael
Michaelangelo
Splinter
April
Metalhead
Leatherhead
Shredder
Foot Soldier
Fishface
Dogpound
Baxter
Snakeweed
Kraang
The Lair - My mom got this for me for XMAS - HaHa!
BattleShell
ColoringBook
Drinking Glasses
Area Rug - already mentioned

Cels - Those who have browsed my collection know I have a soft spot for animation cels - especially when they are unique.
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00946_zps47ffe52b.jpg

TMNT - Zak Cel
Sam & Max: Freelance Police x2
The Tick x2
The Real Ghostbusters

And Finally - COMICS COMICS COMICS! - As some of you may have seen over the last few weeks I have picked up comic collecting. I had a huge haul that I updated last week and here is this weeks! A list is provided under the picture. These again are all from multiple sources.
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/DSC00942_zps83e269c1.jpg
Viking Heros 2 & 3
Flamming Carrot 3 & 4
Savage Dragon TMNT Crossover
How to Draw TMNT

Well I will save you from the pics since I know everyone already knows what they look like.

I added Rat King and Cockroach Terminator to my Nick collection along with the SDCC Shredder x2 which came in the mail today.

Thus far I have only gotten 1 of each character, the lair, and shellraiser. Everyone's opinion - should I splurge and get all the Ooze and stealth turtles as well as the many various vehicles? I collect the Nick stuff to keep in package..

And my latest purchase which was found randomly is Volume 1 Issue 3 first print. On my way home from work (I travel all over the northern part of Ohio) I have always seen this one Antique Mall but never had time to pop in. Today I made time knowing I would be in the area and I was rather surprised to find a collectibles room inside. I found this Issue sitting on a shelf nicely displayed among some silver and golden age comics.

I believe it to be in rather nice condition - one crease on the top right corner, 2 mild stress marks on the binding, and the pages aren't white. I got it for about 32 with tax - did I do okay? was the price fair?

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/photo_zps1c5956a0.jpg

MrPliggins
08-14-2013, 04:11 PM
It seems to be a Fine+ to a VF- perhaps. The crease brings it down or it might be an NM. Seems like a decent price for the grade.

I too have regularly been passing an antique mall on my drive home. I keep thinking I should stop in..

TheMasterTurtle

gees such a great collection

TheMasterTurtle
08-18-2013, 08:31 PM
Ok so this isn't a new addition to the actual collection however it is still relevant because this big guy will house many pieces and centralize a lot of what I own. I picked this case up on Friday afternoon for $100!

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/image_zps5fbb0652.jpg

This thing stands 7 ft tall, 6 ft wide, and 20 in deep. My other upright case is 7 ft by 4 ft by 18 deep. This extra space will be great BUT I won't be setting it up soon. Alas I'm moving in 10 months and this thing is so large that the hassle to set it up, all my statues, and then break it all down again just isn't worth it to me. You'll see it all in a year completed but I was just so excited to post it because of the price I got it for!

Thats awesome!!! I am big into display cases...to me how you display your collection is just as important as the collection itself.

My only concern....is please be careful with those glass shelves!! Don't put too much weight on them. I would hate to see broken statues. They do look pretty thick, but I never trust glass shelves with statues......but goodluck!

TheMasterTurtle
08-19-2013, 07:35 AM
I also get concerned about this however I will probably use this cabinet for all my vintage stuff and my smaller upright display will be for statues. If I do that there will be less stress on the glass.

Wow! This is more than a collection - it's pretty much a legit TMNT museum! I'm floored. Very, very cool. :)

I must ask about the four prints on the closet doors. Did you have those made yourself, or were they for sale at one point?

I was hoping to add a second to my collection but I'm never upset knowing it found a home in a fellow dromers hands. My one makes me happy. In any case the same stuff happens to me with all my dinosaucers cels. I actively look for those and my random google searches always bring up my thread!

Thanks for the comments guys. No huge updates for a while because I'm saving / spending cash for my wedding.

Lol!!! That's pretty funny! I'm a huge ebay sniper.... I've made plenty of people mad on ebay with my sniping at the last minute... I guess next time one pops up on ebay, we know who we're up against! :P Nothing like some friendly competition- I wouldn't be upset if you win the next, at least we can enjoy looking at them on the other person's wall! Best of luck preparing for your wedding and congrats! Enjoy and take lots of pictures!

So for a BIG update... I went to New York Comic Con this weekend and what a weekend it was. I met tons of cool people (both famous and just awesome fans) and picked up lots of cool items. Not all of these things are TMNT related however all still great additions to my collection. I hope not only to post what I got but tell a story thru my pictures of what my weekend was.

I bit the bullet and paid more than I wanted to for mine too. But now ones in the same grade are going for $1k+ more than I paid. Still, keeping it anyway. Nice buy, and investment TMT.

It includes all 4 new characters from the new line plus another Casey which I found elsewhere yesterday. The rug was a random pick up when I was with my fiancÚ at Kohls doing our wedding registry after Christmas. It was on sale for 12.99 (originally 39.99) so it was hard to pass up.

I decided to finally go after the IDW run. I've always been discouraged because of all the covers but then I decided if I limit which I go after (cover A) I can always go back once turtles inevitably phase out again to get the rest (sorry to say but it always happens).

In the pic above it includes all cover A except for issue 1 which I have A, B, C, & D. Additionally I have a duplicate of cover A signed by Eastman and issue 2-4 are signed by Eastman & Waltz.

The last little issue at the end is an oldie but a goodie. Second print Raphael form the original line. In stellar condition and I found it sitting alone in a bin for 3 bucks at a local comic shop.

I just got done throwing these all in their new Mylar sleeves and they'll be tucked away with the rest until my custom cabinet is complete.

Enjoy - I will ;)

Onto bigger news, I splurged again when I got access to some good deals. Included below are many B and RI covers for various issues between 6-30, Cover A for Villians 1-8 plus Shredder SUB which I plan to have Eastman draw on in March, Animated 1-7, Eastman Annual and Cover Gallery, X files crossover, Utrom Empire, History of the foot 1-4, and lastly Volume 1 Issue 2 Second Printing which I got for a HELL of a deal in the condition that it's in (I appreciate your expertise MrPliggins)

Thanks for the continued positive feedback! I've got a huge, close to 70 book addition for this posting from over about the last month. This large haul is compiled from a few small eBay purchases, 2 comic shops & a small convention in Wisconsin, and last but not least from our own Powder.

Archie adventures #49 and the much rarer #71 which I had as a kid and was stolen. Also I've completed my Mighty Mutanimals run by finding issue #9 as well as the remaining training guides to wrap that collection too.

It's great looking but also an oversized panoramic which I've never seen of the Ecto. Below it is a group shot of the guys I already had for comparison. I'll be getting lots of stuff framed over the next few months to hang in my basement of my new house I'm remodeling.

Look for a few more updates in a week or two. I found The Tick 1-12 first prints at that comic show as well but am waiting for some magazine size mylars for this and my oversized TMNT books before I post. I also have another package coming in the mail and 2 conventions in the next 3 weeks!

Nice comic additions! I picked up that 1986 Gobbledygook within the last 4 or 5 months and it's a nice addition to any collection! I absolutely LOVE that Ecto-1 cel you scored- A-MAZE-ing!!! Did you get a decent deal on The Tick comics, I've noticed that the #1 1st printing seems to hover around $40-$50 range for the nicer quality issues? Anyway, very nice stuff!

I got gook at a comic show for $5 bucks so I couldn't pass it up. I saw that Ecto cel and jumped on it. I've seen nice Ecto cels before but never this large or in this quality. The Tick was a steal and again because the condition is so nice. I'll post pics soon as I get them bagged and boarded. You're right about the price range. I went to the convention the minute the door opened and I saw it sitting on shelf of a big booth. from a distance didn't realize all first 12 were in the bag together (not ideal from a storage standpoint but he must not have had them bundled for long because their shape is phenomenal). Anyway they were priced at $60 bucks! I opened my wallet right away and told the guy I'd take them and he said "yeah ok you got a steal because I was just about to go around and update all my prices and this was going to be $100."

Great stuff as usual dude! I love your TMNT blanket

Thank you. It was a gift for Christmas from my sister and it's actually one of the most comfortable blankets I own. My fiancÚ loves it and the minute I was able to get her into turtle anything I considered it a success :)

a) white matte w/ red frame
b) black matte w/ red frame
c) red matte w/ white frame
d) red matte w/ black frame

From a fan standpoint it was rather amazing but from a financial/ promoter standpoint it had to be a huge disappointment. It wasn't busy at all, not lots of vendors, some no shows for celebs. Again from the fan standpoint I got to meet AND spend time with every celeb there which usually isn't the case. We talked a lot about everything which was refreshing. There was never that rush to be anywhere because the celebs were casually walking amongst the crowds. Here are my weekend scores as well as an extra that was at my doorstep when I got home.

Incomplete Foot Cruiser - $10 bucks. I'll be flipping this and finally making a car for my neutrinos. Whenever I find them on eBay for cheap they are always missing the windshield and never this cheap.

Meeting Greg Berg (Alt. Donnie & Bebop voices) & Claudia Wells (BTTF Jennifer Parker)
Greg was cool but this was only his second event where he was there for the turtles and he seemed out of his element. Claudia was out of place since this was a TMNT, Comic, Wrestling, & Martial Arts show. I have no idea where she fit in but whatever - I met her.

Meeting Goldberg & Jake the Snake - I'm not a wrestling fan anymore BUT I still love me some 80's, 90's stars. Goldberg was VERY cool and willing to get up and pose as you can see. Jake was funny but definitely didnt want much to do with you unless you opened your wallet. Still glad I was able to meet him.

Kevin Nash aka Super Shredder - I've heard over the years he's not a nice guy but he was a thrill to meet. He might have been more nice to me because I brought some fun stuff to the table. He loved that I brought a pic of Super Shredder and it seems I was the only one all weekend who thought to because as I was walking around the event lots of people asked me where I got that picture and I told them I brought it. Secondly, the "trio" picture I have from Nash I made by compiling images. He LOVED it and stopped to stare at it also asking where I got it. He gave me a business card and told me he would love to start using it as a promo sheet so I should email him.

Meeting Rich from Partners in Kryme - He was very cools and willing to hang out. I had him sign the Turtle Power LP that I just got along with Eastman. I have some videos of him performing "Turtle Power" and a new song "Rock the Half-Shell" if anyone is interested. I'll be honest though they aren't amazing performances - more comedic.

Meeting Ernie Reyes JR (Keno) - VERY cool. He was a pleasure to hang out with and loved to talk to his fans. I was a little disappointed in the event because of the confusion the celebrities had. Ernie would sign anything you wanted for free but I HAD to pay for an autograph according to the show workers at the front of the event. I bought a pass to have Ernie autograph something and when I went to give him the pass he said "dont worry about it, I'll sign whatever you have."

My Eastman Sandwich (his joke, not mine) - They were both awesome again. I met Kevin this past year at NYCC for the first time and although it was busy he still gave us a little time to talk. This time with nothing going on they were chatter boxes. Each fan talked with him for 10 minutes or so if they wanted. They walked around the event casually and just hung out with you. Same as Ernie, Kevin was only supposed to sign if you handed him a paid voucher. Well he didnt listen and signed everything we wanted. Why? Because hes awesome and appreciates his fans. He always publically thanks us and knows without us, he wouldnt be where he is.

I had a variety of things I wanted him to sign but didnt bring as much because I thought each one was going to cost me. Luckily I had some random things and was staying with my friends in MI who also had an old VHS for me to take.

My "Convention" Hat which I wear to every Con and a photo the event was giving away with both Kevin and Courtney (signed respectively).

The story and the haul - I went 2 of the 3 days because some people were appearing on Friday and others Saturday but I knew Kevin would be there both so I hoped for an autograph and a quick sketch. By then end of the weekend I was on a first name basis with both of them and we got to joke around lot - here's why. On Friday I had him sign his Cover Gallery, My Hat, and do a Shredder Sketch on the Shredder Micro. While I was waiting in line to meet him I swore I saw some sketched covers he had done but all his Merch was packed away after an argument with the promoter because of how confusing the event was. When it was my turn I talked a little, gave Kev my books and he began to sketch Shredder when I asked Courtney about those covers I thought I saw. She said "oh yeah here you go." She handed me SHOTF with an amazing Shredder and Annual w/Masks with Leo. I was giddy and wanted both because of the amazing work and since I'm working on completely by IDW covers. We talked price for a minute and we agreed on something and I walked away with the books and I was ecstatic. Here they are and story continues below....

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/30513DE9-A92D-4DE1-87C6-2D9DCB7F2790_zpswqsu6t99.jpg

Story continued... The guy who ran Detroit Fanfare was there and had a lot of his blank covers for great prices. I didn't know this but there were 2 versions, Matte and glossy. I bought one of each on Friday and I wanted to have Kevin Sketch on one saturday. You can see above I had him do Splinter and I left the other blank for the future. When I went in line to have this done I was still debating what to have him do so I wanted to let him know who I had art of already and who he could do quickly to have a variety of characters in his style. When I approached I talked to them again and told them that I was the guy who bought the sketched books the day before at which point they started laughing and said "you're the guy who got the deal." I was confused and I guess when I did the credit card swipe Courtney under charged me for the books by a lot. I told them I would gladly pay the difference and because of that, Kevin said he appreciated my honesty, would do more than just a Splinter head. Courtney said she would give me 2 flats from his art books because of being so honest. I saw the prices they had on the flats and looked over at the comics and asked if I could look through the comics instead and they said sure - pick two. To my surprise they had the two in the picture below that they just gave me. So through all this we had casual convos and jokes. I told them I happened to be going to a convention next week that they would be at and that if they brought more sketch books Id be interested. They said "Hans, we will bring some for you. Thanks again for being honest and we look forward to seeing you next weekend again."

Awesome comic scores! I recently got to meet Eastman, Reyes and Richard as well, and they are all very cool guys! Sounds like you definitely had a blast and you got a lot more face time with them than I did. Definitely sounds like the event planners screwed up somewhere if there were that few fans in the know about the event, but their loss is your gain! Very cool!

Over the years a large part of my collection has come from the men themselves at Mirage. Today may mark the last order/ package I will ever receive from them because I own everything on their online store. Unless PL decides to put out more issues of Volume 4 or they randomly find a case of #29 this is it from them.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/B69CE8E1-BFF6-4D1C-9F35-35E1153C7E94_zpsh9gmlahc.jpg

Another reason why this order is significant is because I am slowly closing in on completing my comic collection. In this package I received the last Archie Adventures issue to complete my 1-72 run, the last 3 Archie Specials I needed as well as finishing the April: May East Saga. I need 1 more Tales issue after this one and then V2 run is also complete. Ahhhh the feeling of achievement is there.

Also with this being my last order I wanted to get a Mirage Publishing hat - just to have.

Thanks guys. I've had quite a bit of bad news lately on my family front with my grandfather. I've needed to keep occupied while not at the hospital so as MrPliggins already stated we went to Gem City together Saturday. After my visit tonight I spent time boarding and bagging my finds from the weekend.

Surprisingly it was a great small con with lots of steals. I met The Eastmans last week and again this weekend. It's fun to be on a first name basis with them. Below are the finds and I'll tell quite the story related to Kevin and Courtney.

Here are the books I had Kevin sign. In the chaos that was being last in line, I had him sign these and the sewer cover shown below. People were rushing the table to get something signed, the eastmans were packing up and going to lunch and I accidentally left these books at the table. Pliggins and I went to my car to load our hauls in there and wait for our sketches when I realized I didn't have my books! Long story short I had to wait an hour and a half until they got back from lunch not knowing if they were taken by an attendee of the show or if the eastmans had taken them because they knew they belonged to someone. Once they came back they said don't worry we set them over there because we knew they were yours and saw you forgot them. I was relieved!

As always, great haul! Nice grab on the #3 variant, super rare :o

Thanks guys - it's been another day so here's another update to keep things moving. Grandfather is "ok" at the moment but not 100% if he ever even will be. He's still fighting at this point.

So below is a post full of variants both thanks to a trade with Sofistocat, one of my friends, and a few misc deals I found online.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/60CA8227-4D33-4F6E-8B25-D0696D743CA3_zpsbddgqci3.jpg

Some real key variants here for me. I can't say enough what a pleasure it has been dealing with Sofistocat. If you haven't already, he's top notch and I highly recommend it. I look forward to closing more deals in the future.

Yet another small update....

Here is the 2009 Reprint BUT it's the misprint bought off our own MrPliggins. Second it's the last issue of tales I needed (I overlooked it in my collection).

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/397593B9-67D1-4F45-A4F8-75F6FC53F507_zpskqxhtkov.jpg

And next.. From Gem City Con a few weeks back is my Kevin Eastman convention sketch. He accidentally mailed it to MrPliggins so I had to wait a few weeks to get it but better late then never. I'm really pleased with my new Triceraton. I feel like I'm well rounded with the sketches I've gotten from Kevin over the last year and I wanted something different this time.

A little update... I've wanted the Mirage Portfolios for some time now and won them on Sunday. Having received them in the mail today I was quite happy and even more so when I saw the little "extra" the seller threw in. For those who don't know it is the Volume 2, Issue 13 misprint. The issue isn't the most rare or valuable but it was missing from my collection and my Volume 2 is now complete as well.

BIG question: the portfolios are still shrink wrapped. Should I open them? I just always expected to get them open so never thought I'd have to make this decision.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/F2777C41-CF24-49DC-A5E6-1DD550F79741_zpsyecnxjy4.jpg

By the way I enjoy using my TMNT blanket as a backdrop for images of new pieces I get. Additionally my one cat Zuul (brother is Vinz Clortho and yes, named after Ghostbusters) has grown increasingly fond of it. I continually find him wrapped in this blanket. It IS one of the most comfortable ones I own so I can't blame him hence his photo bomb.

Nice pickups..I'm not sure if you should open it or not. When I received my video game TMNT #1 reprint, it was shrink wrapped, and I decided to get another copy which was opened. However, with these shrink wrapped, you don't get to enjoy the beautiful prints! I'd probably open them.

Kevin charges $50 for his "tour sketches." Half the cost goes to charities so it's a great price and a win win - you get an awesome sketch and contribute to bettering someone's life.

Thanks for all the positive feedback again. Sure has taken a long time to obtain everything and display it so I'm thankful when it's appreciated. You should see my cats also... Sometimes they could pass as ninjas. They hide out behind furniture and plants and jump out on you when you least expect it.

Ok everyone! Here is the update I had mentioned in the above post. It's crazy crazy crazy around here!

Here we have the treasurey regular edition, all available 30th anniversary covers (except the regular which I'm picking up today), the blood orange jetpack variant, the very evasive B & R RI edition (why is this one so hard to find!), volume 4 issue 32 and the jetpack variants of issue 33 signed by Eastman, Lavigne, and Lawson.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/FC44AADE-F8C5-4E79-856B-F9806DD8D454_zpsyhuz4wru.jpg
Here are the limited FCBD prints from both Eastman @ jetpack as well as the shellback one. At my new house I'll be creating a "comic corner" so to speak which will have my huge custom built comic storage cabinet (pics yet to come) and anything comic related/inspired EXCEPT original art. As much as I appreciate the original art my budget and completist mindset cannot support it. These prints, the playmates statues and NECA figures will all display together very well.

A HUGE shout out to Gooseatello. Very similar to my experiences with Sofistocat in the last few months I can't praise Goose enough. He went to jetpack for his bachelor party and was kind enough to pick up the prints, books and autographs for me including one of the Limited PL signatures. We arranged a pick up near his home while I was on a road trip moving stuff to my new house. I look forward to going to some cons in the future!

Enjoy everyone and look for an update later today with some more books...

My volume 1-4 TMNT stuff is on Ikea shelves, along with my entire Usagi run. The new IDW stuff is in standard industry comic boxes currently as I need another shelving unit for all of that. And remember I have pretty much every printing of every issue released since #1 in 1984 ;)

Well just for giggles... This is in storage in my garage until I'm able to move it later this year.

The top and bottom will primarily be used for prints, cels, other flat collectibles as well as storage for my bags & boards. If it wasn't obvious, the middle 6 will be used to hold the collection. It will store approximately 175-200 books per drawer and has a 9inch width so the oversized TMNT books fit perfectly bagged and boarded.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/2E95B30B-2D46-490D-AD5E-953A8EE55D6C_zpsa7kma3nc.jpg

Each drawer is lined in cedar to help with any unexpected moisture in addition to all my books being stores in Mylar bags. I'll be making some wooden dividers eventually to organize my books against the catalog I have in my collection archive/document. You don't know how satisfied I'll feel once I can finally put my books in here. They're currently being stored in boxes and it's such an eye sore when I walk into my current collection room. Until I have them in here, you won't see pics. All there is to show is stacks upon stacks of boxes.

And here's the other update I promised. I stopped at my local shops today to pick up what they've held for me. I almost like the 30th second printing cover better then the A cover. I wish 34 didn't have so many variants after the 30th just had 13. Not only are there 6 but 2 of them are con exclusives and pricey!

The IDW LIMITED 30th Anniversary book with Sketch Card. I considered only getting the book because many are up online for cheaper than this bunch but I hoped for a sketch from the original crew. Although mine is from Emil Cabaltierra I'm still nothing but impressed with it, the detail, and his work overall so I'm glad to have it.

For me at least, this is the most rewarding score. TMNT Volume 4, Issue 29. I've been hunting for a few years for this and although it pops up periodically I never wanted to pay the asking prices. After the last one I saw sold for $275 I splurged to complete my Volume 4 run before this thing became either impossible to find or insane in price. Very happy about this addition. I can take or leave the PL autograph since most the copies I see of this are signed I had hoped for a non but I'm just glad its now in my possession.

FINALLY, last but not least, I've been storing all these comics in random (well secured) boxes until I started the move to Wisconsin. Although I haven't brought my entire collection yet, far from actually, the one thing that did come with my was my comics and my custom built comic cabinet. This is not the final resting place for the cabinet BUT the comics are finally in their home.

Haha seems like I dropped off the face of the earth huh? I've been SO busy remodeling my basement at my house (entertainment/ display room, office/ studio/ display room to name the fun stuff and then just your standard laundry and pantry areas. This being done directly effects when I can bring my complete collection so the sooner I finish, the sooner you'll all get to see my new display rooms. I have a bunch of updates actually but some shipped here and some shipped to ohio PLUS I have pulls at my LCS in Ohio I need to pick up. Unfortunately, the only time I'll be back in Ohio is the first weekend of October and then for 2 weeks to move all my remaining display cases, collection stuff, clothes, etc.

Until I get back from that visit I won't be posting a true update. I'd love to post some of this stuff though and hope you don't mind waiting a bit longer!

Well everyone this isn't the normal sort of update, rather it's showing off my new display areas/ office area. Essentially where my collection will be displayed as well as where I'll work on professional and personal projects. Ultimately this remodel at my new house has kept me from updating you all on the regular but give me another month to move my crap and set it all up and you'll start getting the updates once more...

So this isn't the entry to my basement but the entry to my new office/ display area in the basement. It's a decent size but not as large as my previous. I need to do some work yet - take out the water softner (don't need it) and finish installing the carpet. The added pipes add that sewer feel I suppose though I don't love it nor do I feel like putting a ceiling up. The difference here is that is will be my toy room only. All my figures and some statues will be house in display cases here as well as my desk and computer. I'll certainly littler the walls with cels and prints just as I did in my old room. I went with the brick wallpaper again but also had those cinder block wall to deal with. I didn't want to just paint it a solid boring color and couldn't wallpaper it without building a wall. So I was inspired by the old TMNT package artwork and colored my wall similar to how it looked there minus the "breaking through the wall" look. I like how it turned out and it's just something different. Should look nice once stuff is hanging there.

The first picture here is what you see when you walk into my basement and the second is the shot from the opposite side looking towards where the first pic was taken. It's a 30ft by 11ft area so there should be plenty of space. This will be my entertainment and display room. In addition to my big tv and all my home theater stuff going in here, every wall every few feet will have movie posters, statues, memorabilia, props, etc. some areas will be simple while some areas (TMNT, ghostbusters, BTTF for example) will have much more elaborate displays built. Still need to wallpaper and carpet this area very soon.

interesting so far. i'm looking forward to seeing the completed project.

i get your reasoning for painting the cinderblock wall the way you did, but i gotta imagine that will become difficult to look at sooner rather than later. if you ever get board of it, you should try to do a tmnt mural...maybe a favorite panel from one of the comics.

IF I wasn't going to eventually be moving back to ohio I'd consider it. This took me a few hours vs a few days to paint. I'm a supporter of murals but can't justify the work if I A. Can't take it along or B. Will be covering it up. Again this wall will have posters & display cases against it because I do need the wall space.

I can't wait to get my collection up here and start setting it up. I miss it quite a bit

Pretty massive update coming soon. Exhausted from this move, unpacking, setting up, work, the house in general and everything I between. It's slowly calming down.

I just got done bagging and boarding 35 books/ variants I've accumulated since the last update I think 2 months ago. I'll update this post with those and a few other goodies tomorrow. I'll save posting "The Collection" in both rooms I'm displaying until is closer to being done. I've got a lot set up already, maybe 40%.

Also as soon as this stuff is out of the way I'll begin posting a sales thread to get rid of my extra stuff or things I don't want. Unfortunately like 90% of the stuff I don't want isn't turtle stuff but if anyone likes the random stuff I'll have links to eBay or wherever I sell it as I get rid of it all.

Okay so this is everything I was talking about above. This is what I have - some items were sent to my parents in Ohio which I'll have to get eventually

First I've got a whole slew of comics to add to the collection.

Here we have IDW's ongoing series including some hard to find variants: #1, #2, #5, #22 (sketch, hypercolor, Eastman Hand-Drawn), #24 RI, Niagara Falls Ex, #35 Exclusive, some regular covers for 37 & 38, the Alamo #38 ex, and the SDCC 14 Lego exclusives.

And continuing with IDW books: Krang Jetpack variant, IDW 30th Anniversary Con Edition (Signed by Sean Astin, Josh Peck, Ciro Nieli, Greg Cipes, Rob Paulsen and Brandon Auman), Kevin Eastman 30th Anniversary Con Edition NYCC Regular and AP Exclusives - very cool books, Annual 2014, Turtles in Time 3,4, + Sub covers, 2 TMNT/Ghostbusters variants - I LOVE the HerosHaven one, IDW's ConEdition #1 Reprint and then a few TMNT Animated books.

The TurtleDoc & Exclusive poster signed

Last but not least for this update, thanks to The Great Archon_Turtle, I'm thrilled to add the Mirage Button set to my collection - #144/1000. Archon sent them to me in plastic wrap for protection and I didnt want to just shove these in a drawer so I turned it into a mini project. I found a frame with decorations in the inside, gutted it, added some red fabric to the backing, "pinned" the pins to it and there you have it. A great little display.

Thanks Thanks - have a question. I have A LOT of TMNT Cels (by my standard i think so anyway). Should I display a small few or should I get a nice artist binder to throw them all in and be able to flip through. I have some of my other non- TMNT cels stored like this. Id say the number is around 40? maybe more. Some original - some were cut down by the original owner to fit in 8x10 frames which is why I have my reservations - not all edges are clean.

MrPliggins
11-05-2014, 10:38 PM
I would suggest to display your favorite ones and put the rest in an artist binder to flip through from time to time. I think the cels are cool, but 40 on display will be taking real estate away from other types of items you can display.

Great pin set by the way!

So I'm like 90% done with my collection areas of my new house. I need one box for one shelf to display, a little tidying up and then I'll be taking all new photos and if there is enough interest I will do a video "tour" to fully appreciate the layout.

Until then (which should be soon) here is my belated Christmas update. My wife and fam got me some misc items including some tin TMNT lunch boxes, bebop & rocksteady from the nick line, a TMNT shower curtain (don't know what I'll do with this but probably use it to protect the collection while I'm painting in my office), and some other misc stuff. I'm "hard to buy for" so they give me a number, I buy, they gift to me and below is the outcome of this gifting method. Lots of comics...

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/BFD48904-ED80-4FA8-B999-7A8166FEB806_zpsupuvncdr.jpg

In here we have lots of books from the IDW ongoing and micro series including their variants. I also have another mirage books which means I'm closing in on the complete print run of volume 1. I also have the Kevin Eastman con variants here. I only need one more.

I've been busy and must sound like a broken record but remodeling my house has eaten up lots of my time. I've begun small projects on our main floor but have been doing inventory on stuff I want to sell. Some big news is that in about 8 months we will be having a baby aka new TMNT fan. In the next few months I'll be purging duplicates and MAYBE some stuff that I've lost interest in. Keep watch for this stuff and my eventual new display!

Yep... I spent the last hour trolling through your collection, my dude. I'm starting to get the itch to get my hands on the comics I'm missing, and your updates are big inspiration. Keep the updates commin'! If I get out to Cleveland this year, maybe I could get you out to my family's restaurant in Shaker Heights (if that's not too far for you). Love to meet another fan. I know only one other person who is as interested in the TMNT property locally. So it would be cool to connect with another like-minded mutant haha...

Cheers!

Hey I appreciate the words. I was on the west side but Shaker was probably a half hour from me. I moved this past july to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area so a gathering would have to be really planned. Actually in cleveland this weekend and went to our first comic con/ visiting with family. My wife and I will inevitably be back though.

I enjoy looking through everyone else's collections and put a lot of work into mine assuming others also enjoy doing that. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'll keep those updates semi regular. It's been more difficult for a lot of reasons but I'll always keep updating as much as possible.

Update time. Still no reveal but I have my last box from Ohio finally so in the next week I'll be setting that up and probably beginning the pic taking process.

For VDay my wife got me tickets for Cleveland Wizard World and a Corey Feldman autograph. I was surprised it did so well. I would have gotten something TMNT related signed but I hate spending so much on the same persons autograph so I stuck with goonies.. Sorry for the poor pic

Next we have a comic update.. It's your standard IDW ongoing, mini-series, and animated books plus variants. The one that'll stand out are the top 3. Mirage softcover 6th printing and GameStop variant. I need one more printing of Volume 1, Issue 1. The third book is the last book I needed for Archie to have a complete run. Closing the books on another complete series.

Worth a pretty penny, Donny especially.

They still have the license and there's apparently quite a large demand. Has Playmates mentioned why they won't do another run of statues? My guess is poor sales, limited availability. I remember when they came out ages ago. They're super cool, though. It definitely seems like something that would sell well now.

Ok so I'll start with this... I'm no longer a fan of pro wrestling but a younger me was for sure. I rarely post non TMNT updates because frankly therer aren't many BUT... An opportunity presented itself and I had, what i consider a privilege, the chance to meet Scott Hall aka Razor Ramon. As a teen he was a favorite of mine and especially with his personal struggles over the last few years I nevER thought I'd get to meet him. It was always a goal of mine to meet the original 3 nWo members - Hulk Hogan (2013), Kevin Nash (2014), and finally Scott Hall (2015). Uber cool - I got some pics with him, here is the autograph... Now onto TMNT.
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/FF1C1F23-8697-428E-8DC3-17E1737F5DD6_zpsvo8hqtp2.jpg

Ok so all are IDW except for the Kevin Eastman 30th anniversary, AP con exclusive black and white cover (this completes me KE Studios 2014 books). We have #8 RI - strangely doesn't pop up much, TMNT/GB #4 hot topic cover (I hate ht variants, unnecessary how hard it is to get them), and 2 real hard to find ones. The raph and Donny variants are the RI-B covers for the current micro series. They uses the old covers and reprinted tbem as variants. Pretty scare - 1:25 and I barely ever see them. Just missing Leo so let me know if anyone can find it!

Anyway enjoy...

and a non turtle update but something I've been after for 15 years - a very rare Dinosaucer figure from South America. The condition might look a little rough but trust me its hard to find these in better condition. The limbs and head are all soft, hollow plastic so they would flake easily. Those little Brazilian children didnt know theyd have a gold mine when they were older when they were bashing the figures together. 1 down, 4 to go! These babies run in the hundreds and pop up infrequently so itll take me a few years probably

Thanks everyone :)

So I've become a bit of a Goodwill rat since I've moved. You just find some quality household things for cheap which has helped me furnish my house between frames, some misc furniture, kitchen items etc. they never tend to have anything good for my collection but I always still check. A few weeks ago I bought about a dozen old VHS toon tapes for .50 each just to display and then yesterday I found this which I was VERY happy about for the $1.99 price tag.

When people in collecting communities or on eBay use the term rare I feel as though it's used loosely. I researve the term for items that are very uncommon, short run, etc. I posted a few weeks back one of these I attained however I now have 4 of the 5 released, 1 is a duplicate, and 1 has an original weapon.

The Dinosaucers are on the top 10 rarest toy list and I'm thrilled to have them in my collection. I need the last one so my hunt isn't over.

It's been another while...

Since the last update I've gotten a fair amount of things but most importantly a daughter! I don't have the pics uploaded at the moment but I'm preparing her to love the turtles as any good father would. The day she was born I gave her a turtle 'Nuk' and took a picture to which I got a nice "Congratulations!" message from the Eastmans via facebook - it made me smile and I'll put that in her scrapbook!

So anyway here are the non-offspring additions to my life...

TOYS:
I've gotten a few Turtle Toys here and there...
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/74067D57-B1BE-4E43-BCA1-7AFB1C8144AD_zpsbj3cjlkc.jpg
Cyber Shredder, Supermutant Shredder, and a big score of the Black Mail-Away Shredder

Added a COMPLETE Metal Mutant Shredder and Raphael to my previous ones

NON-Turtle Items...

I scored two full/complete sets of Kenner Ghostbusters which I need to make room in my GB cabinet for. They are Fright Features Series 1 & Slimed Heroes. Additionally I got my second to last 4Horsement sculpted, Masters of the Universe SSSQUEEEZE Staction. Really happy about these non-tmnt scores.

COMICS & PRINTS:
I have a HUGE haul coming my way because I havent visited my not-so-local comic shop in Ohio since May. I can't wait to update after that visit which will bring me up-to-date with everything IDW that I have on hold but while waiting for that visit I figured I'd work on getting some other missing issues as well as starting to collect all the Mirage Trades which I always passed on.

Some of these too A LOT of work to track down...

Row 1: TMNT Collected SoftCover First Print, Image #1 Con Exclusive, Tales of TMNT #32 Wayne Center Variant, TMNT Movie Sneak Peek, Tales of TMNT Treasury Edition

Row 2: Montreal CC #44 & #45, Micro Raph & Don Sketch Variants

Row 3: IDW Limited SHotFC Alex D Cover (Thanks DrSpengler!), Casey & April Con & Hastings Exclusives, Animated #1 RI Cover, and UTMNT Fan Comic #1

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/Collection/F3AED0DC-B4AC-4B4B-BA27-BBD1181BADBC_zpsitvigid5.jpg
Also like a few others on the Drome I took advantage to get this Hero's Initiative Kevin Eastman Print, Signed, and limited to 300.

So... With this post my collection is feeling even more complete. I currently own every print, misprint, cover variant, exclusive for...

Mirage Volume 1
Mirage Volume 2
Mirage Volume 4
Mirage Tales of TMNT V1
Mirage Tales of TMNT V2

Image Volume 3

I am actively working on the Mirage Trades, Palladium RPG Books, and anything IDW from the ongoing, animated, micros/ mini cover variants that I'm missing but the list keeps getting smaller!

Before showing off the new stuff I figured Id share some old items that I never had the chance to. I rearranged all my cels in a portfolio. I used to have them hanging around my old display room but ever since my move they've just been sitting in a box. If anyone wants to play the fun game of identifying what episode some of these are from I'm hoping to go through and add labels to each cel.

Lastly - a non TMNT score. I am the only collector of the Dinosaucers franchise on this forum I think and when it comes to rare items this property from the 80s takes the cake in my collection. I managed to obtain 1 of the 8 original prototypes by Galoob. Galoob originally sculpted 8 characters, 5 of which were produced by a Brazilian company, Glasslite, in the late 80's. The following happens to be one of the 3 that were never produced and this is 1 of maybe 3 in the world. It may not mean much to anyone here but in the world of vintage toy collecting this is a hot item. This prototype is offically the rarest and most expensive item in my entire collection. I have big plans for it eventually.

I don't normally post here since but had to in this case. Your office is a stereotypical super fan collection which while awesome in its own right I wouldn't like to actually have.

Your entertainment room however is amazing, love it. I really like that you can see the things that you are passionate about but it doesn't overwhelm you either and that Alf plush nails the mood of the place.

OK? I happen to find the collection around me as a source of inspiration which was in part, why I chose to have my office and collection in the same room. I can't see much purpose in having a collection boxed up or in room of it's own that I wouldn't spend time in. I have the opportunity to sit in a well thought out, themed room full of things I enjoy and work on a daily basis - sounds like a collectors dream to me.

you may not have meant it but I'm actually offended by that

Maybe I should've worded that differently, I was trying to complement your entertainment room. What I meant to say is that while I wouldn't want a huge collection like the ones usually posted here or other fan forums your living room is something that I would like. And I think the office collection is awesome too don't get me wrong, I just couldn't deal with all the clutter myself. Different strokes for different folks though. I meant no offence.

Yeah I didn't think you meant to and I didn't try to take it that way. Ha but I don't like being s stereotype. Anyway the entertainment room is there to show a glimpse of my interests for people to enjoy when I'm entertaining but my office is all for me. In the small space I have I was able to fit a lot of stuff without much overlap. Believe me I'd prefer some more breathing room but I'll do that in my next house. This is a stepping stone. Plus I also look at people like Kevin Eastman. His offices have always been filled with both his creations and things he love. I just really enjoy taking a break from working on something and spinning around in my chair to see it all.

Anyway as full as things might be I do pride myself on the organization of it all. I'm ocd about all franchises having their own shelf or shelves versus intertwining it all. I see a lot of collections that are just shelves
Of a bunch of miscellaneous toy lines or so much stuff on one shelf you can't see
What is in the back. The pictures may not show it but everything in my cases can be looked at easily.

First of all WOW this is an awesome setup. I really like what you have done making your office a toy room so you can enjoy it around you as you work. Right now I'm currently working on the same thing since I work out of my house most of the time. I've got my office actually built with walls and carpet but now comes the hard part is trying to figure out what cases and shelves to buy to make sure everything gets displayed. :tgrin:

Secondly where did you find that brick wall paper? I might have to steal your idea on that one to go behind my TMNT shelves.

Lastly have you ever gone to any small shows in the Milwaukee area? There is one coming up at a school I saw on Craigslist. Looks to be a comic and toy show. I live about hour and a half north and was thinking about making the trek down.

Actually it is a painted test shot so I labeled it incorrectly. With that being said, it is not heavy nor made of resin. The limbs, tail, & head are soft plastic while the torso is hard. It was the the last step had these gone to production and the official releases from Brazil mirror this style. Prototype or Test shot it was expensive as hell but no regrets

DINOSAUCERS ITEMS
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k544/TheMasterTurtle/IMG_6411_zpsuoykxequ.jpg
I dont think I posted this yet. The last figure I wanted to replace my crappy copy for a good copy with was Ghengis Rex. This is in great condition compared to my original which was riddled with paint wear and no tail. the limbs, head, and tail are soft rubber which caused many of these toys to have a lot of wear from play. Even storing them and bouncing them around in a box would cause the paint to rub so Im happy with this pick up and finally completing the 5 figures. I only need 1 weapon for my set of 5 to be 100% complete.

This is the top page of a 150-180 page Production Writing/Art style guide. In my 15 years of pining after owning Dinosaucers items I never stumbled upon one of these and Im just thrilled with the content. Could very well be the only one that still exists since nobody really ever kept anything from this show. Along with the Test Shot this is up there with my favorite things I have.

There aren't many collectibles available for this show so I figured Id try to obtain my own by getting some autographs from voice actors or other people involved with the show. I haven't reached out to many yet but before the New Year I spoke with John Stocker who voiced the two characters you see in the image above. He also voiced Stay Puft in RGB, Toad in Super Mario Brothers, and many more. This is my first of hopefully many autographs I obtain from people involved in the show.

This is REALLY Cool. All of this, excluding the Ecto1 cel which I already owned came from the private archive of Will Meugniot, who served as series director and was also a story board artist for TMNT on various episodes. This was an eBay find. He listed the top 4 RGB Reference Model Sheets and included everything else as extra (4 ghost model sheet including slimer, a COA and drawing he did on the cardboard.) Really thrilled to own these and I plan to get the 4 GB, Ecto, and Slimer all custom framed eventually.

Well right now I'm trying to decide if I should try and get some of those shelves you have that have the glass doors or just try and do all custom shelves. My largest collection is an almost complete 82-94 GI Joe. With the large vehicles and playsets that is going to he difficult to plan for. I also need to leave room for TMNT and Star Wars. It's about a 13x13 room and I just don't think I'm going to fit everything.

This is the con I was talking about. It's called Milwaukee Comic Con put on by Mighty Con. Looks small but we don't have a lot of stuff here in WI.

Well the cabinets I have are pretty standard and because they're not built to the room often waste some potential space. I do however feel unless you do a diorama type display, glass shelves are the way to go. I love them.

Yup mighty con. I've been before and I enjoy the show. I'm hopefully going to that show.

Cool RGB items! Ghostbusters is my core collecting interest and it's always cool to see RGB cels. I had a TON of model sheet drawings and reference that I picked up from an animator a few years ago, including a pencil Ectomobile model sheet that was used in a lot of marketing pieces. I sold/traded most of it over the years, but wound up keeping a cel from the 2-minute promo with the more Bill Murray-esque Venkman, along with a cel of the haunted tan suits from the Citizen Ghost pilot ep and one of the Terror Dog appearances. Fun stuff! Congrats on the score! I dig your collection!

What kind of lights/lighting do you use? Anything special?
