This link was originally posted by Ninjatron over at the UM forums. Rejoice, fellow mutants...the turtles are heading back into the mainstream world! Look out, it's the new cartoon!

I'm so happy I'm going to cry!! :grin:

*squeal* Yay!!! *sniff* I cant wait! :grin: *does happy dance*

the only thing i dont like is the thing about it being in the ranks of pokemon...*shudder* let's hope the animation and such wont turn in THAT direction...

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 07:00 PM
I doubt TMNT will be crossing over with Pokemon any time soon...but if they do, I'm sure our heroes in green can take out all of those strange little monsters :grin: This is truly a time to be happy!
*joins Machias in the happy dance*

Oh, my biggest dream event would be if they used soem of the original voice cast. You know, Splinter and the guys....I always liked Splinter's voice. :smile:

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 07:05 PM
It'd be awesome to hear the old voice actors! If that were to happen, it'd surely bring a tear of nostolgia to my little turtle eyes. :anime:

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 07:06 PM
yeah... :grin:

Man, Now I Really wish i had cable in my dorm now...we dont have it at home either...OH NO, how am i gonna see it?! :eek:

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 07:16 PM
Huh? But Machias, Fox is one of the public channels... :???:

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 07:21 PM
Not where I'm from...well, if it is, our TV cant pick up the signal.

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 07:22 PM
*gasp*
That's a crime against humanity! You should be able to get Fox! You must call your local cable company and start campaigning for the channel. Don't let them stop you from watching the TMNT on TV!!

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 07:35 PM
Well, if worst comes to worst, I'll find out when its on and i'll use one of the lounge TVs....

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 07:36 PM
That's the spirit, Machias! Never give up! :thumbsup:

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 07:53 PM
Thats right! :grin: *insert Rocky Music here*

Oy, i'm starving, and we got a midnight breakfast going on, so i'm gonna snag some grub and be back soon...

~Yeah, I know it's only 10:50 over here, but at this point, as long as there's food, I'm happy...~

Kali
05-07-2002, 09:34 PM
Aw man, if I didn't have to go to that stupid school thing for my brother I would have posted this first. Oh, well, it's still cool news!

*I WILL tape these episodes! I will not make that mistake again!*

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 09:36 PM
I'd ask my brother to record them for me, but i doubt it would happen... :sad:

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 10:08 PM
Me too! Me too! I'm definitely taping the new cartoon. I don't want to miss any episodes! I took the last cartoon for granted...

Kali
05-07-2002, 10:12 PM
I know! There are so many shows I wish I had taped. I naively thought they'd be on forever.

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 10:13 PM
Grr, I want to get the eps on tape too...!

I may have to do something drastic....

I'm missing so many episodes of the original 'toon... :cry:

Kali
05-07-2002, 10:15 PM
Me too. But what I really want is all the Next Mutation eps. *drools over the picture of TNM Raph on her wall*

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 10:23 PM
Hehehe, I know the pic you have. VERY nice.... :grin:

Yeah, I have a seriously low stock of cartoon eps. and Now that NTN.com is not showing anymore, my two Euro eps are gone... :cry: Kazaa doesnt seem to want to work for me, and i cant exactly go out and buy them either...lack some strange substance called 'munn-knee'

But I'll do what i have to in order to be able to see these new ones, even if i have to *gasp* get up early on saturday!

Kali
05-07-2002, 10:25 PM
I don't care if this show is on at three in the morning, I am watching it!

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 10:28 PM
hehehe, i remember when i HAD to watch it at 4am on sunday mornings on channel 4....

3am? I'm usually still up around that time, anyways...

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 10:28 PM
Oh! I'd set up twenty different alarm clocks just to get up and watch the new 'toon! I'm so excited about the new 'toon coming out... Now we just have to wait for news on the movie! :grin:

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 10:41 PM
Oh God, the movie! I almost forgot about that!

I really hope they dont kill Splinter off or something. I read an old 'transcript' for it, and they had him die around the beginning! :cry:

Kali
05-07-2002, 10:43 PM
I doubt they'll do that, Peter said he wanted Splinter around a long time. There's also the Hallmark special that'll be on TV before the movie.

azure turtle
05-07-2002, 10:47 PM
That's right! The Hallmark mini-series! I'm definitely taping that, too.

And I agree, I don't think Splinter will be dying any time soon. I remember reading somewhere (I think in the letters section) that Laird didn't want to kill off Splinter. I think the TMNT wouldn't be the same without him.

Machias Banshee
05-07-2002, 10:52 PM
Man, i'm losing track of all the stuff that's going on!

Hallmark...theyre doing a miniseries that's gonna be on this weekend. Man, i gotta find out when all this stuff happens, so i dont miss any of it!

Man, if they ever killed Splinter, i dont know what i'd do...

sorry, i'm thinking about something else...

*searches for off-topic T-rexes*

The Dinotopia miniseries is gonna be on ABC this weekend...but i digress. I looke very much forward to the TMNT movie, miniseries, and cartoons! :grin:

Hmm...I'm having trouble accessing the Technodrome's main page :sad: Luckily, I was able to find the Forums via Google...

Oh ya! I'm very interested in Dinotopia...I dunno if I'll be able to watch it, though. I'll have to wait and see.

Isn't it wonderful, Loolaa? I always end up babbling when I'm excited...I'm never speechless when I'm excited! :anime:

I just got back from comics2film.com, where I saw this. I decided Id post t here, but too late. It says theyll be going back to their roots! Yay!

Machias Banshee
05-08-2002, 09:17 PM
Are they gonna bring up the origin story again, too? I NEVER get tired of it... :smile:

Kali
05-08-2002, 09:23 PM
Most likely. They may tweak it a little from the original comic origin. As much as we'd like something very close to the comics, there are still standards and practices they have to follow for the show.

Machias Banshee
05-08-2002, 09:30 PM
I'm wondering if theyre gonna have grown up, or if they'll have gone straight to teenage age...

azure turtle
05-08-2002, 10:32 PM
As much as I love the new comic, I hope that the new 'toon has the turtles in their teenage years. :smile:

oh... why fox did it have to be fox? i can't get fox here, our satellite company says that they can't give us local channels, but no matter how hard i've tried. i've never been able to get anything more than static.

azure turtle
05-09-2002, 02:51 PM
I just got the newsletter from Dan, and he said that Kids WB actually turned down the TMNT cartoon. 4 Kids was very interested in the new cartoon, so they approached Mirage Studios a few days after WB turned them down. And since 4 Kids Entertainment owns the Saturday morning block on Fox, then that's the most logical choice for the cartoon to be on. If you can't get Fox, you should ask a friend or family member who gets the channel to tape the show for you.
Btw, Dan also wrote saying that new toys/action figs will be made to coincide with the debut of the new show. He also hinted at new videogames being a major possibility! I'd love to see the TMNT on the PS2...
*drools*

There will probably be games on several systems. I've seen articles from at least two different companies. But those were old, and I'm not sure if they still plan to do those.

05-09-2002, 08:42 PM
LOL! Don't worry, Coolmike. I might cry when I watch the first episode of the new show, too. :anime:

I am so happy that there will be a new TMNT cartoon; so overjoyed I don't even know what to say. However I did record alot of the old TMNT cartoon eps, glad I did now. I figured they'd rerun them forever too, but I guess I was wrong. It would be nice if I could dub everyone copies, but that would be too much and too expensive. I hope that Kazaa and Winmx have some eps you guys can d/l. With the new show however, if it becomes popular enuff, maybe they'll bring back teh old cartoon eps and do the CGI movie.

Regarding the voiceactors. On Neil's site (Ninja Turtles Network), he had an interview with Cam Clarke (voice of Leonardo from cartoon). And Cam said that he'd love to reprize his role if ever approached, so maybe he'll at least be on the new show, and hopefully other old cast members will be too. *I'll keep my fingers crossed* We'll just havta see.

What I'm interested in is what time and day it'll be on so I can tape it. I hope that it will soon be announced the exact date of the new series. I recently bought all the original episodes on TMNT off ebay. I just wish some of them hadn't been from USA (USA edited them for time.) If I have a TV capture card by the time the new series is out I will gladly make high quality rips of the new eps for people to download. The problem right now is I don't know how much capture cards cost or anything I should look for in one. I would appreciate if someone could help me out with this.

Umm...King, the TMNT cartoon hasn't been shown in the states for years. And don't worry, Nun, TMNT will eventually make their way to UK...and to Canada, too. It'll just be a matter of time. Once executives see how well the TMNT cartoon does in the US, the boys in green will definitely go on another world tour.

speedracer
06-19-2002, 03:00 PM
Any clues as to which origin story they're going to use for the new series--the old cartoon origin or the comics/movie origin? I'm kind of afraid that they're going to go with the one from the comics and movie, since Peter Laird seems to genuinely loathe the old cartoon.

Kali
06-19-2002, 05:27 PM
No, not yet. Dan Berger did say they had the story bible for the first season done, so maybe we'll start getting hints or previews. He also said that there's something in the new show for every type of Turtle fan.

Yah, and here's the whole scoop for those who haven't heard:From: TMNT

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Howdy folks!
I'm back from vacation and Mirage C.E.O. Gary Richardson is back from the New York Licensing Show... so there's a bit o' news to tell.
First off, we've hit a snag with printing TMNT #4 - we hope that it will be out on June 26, but there's a chance we'll miss that by a week. Argh!
On to the news!
First off, the limited edition cold-cast porcelain TMNT statues are definitely going to be produced by Playmates Toys! I'll have some pix of the initial sculpture up on the site this week. Turtle Guru Peter Laird
has already posted some on his "Blast from the Past" page if you wanna see 'em
now:
http://www.planetracers.com/blast/blast60.html
Scroll down to peep 2 pix!
Leonardo will be the first of four pieces. As I noted last time, each statue will be on a base and each base will interconnect to form one big diorama. The statues will be painted. Playmates plans to take orders for
the statues at this year's San Diego Comic Con (http://www.comic-con.org ) at Diamond Comic Distributors' booth through Diamond Select. The price range will be in the $100-150 range. Currently we're still discussing the edition number, but it's definitely planned to be a very limited release. The second figure (no decision on who it'll be yet), will be out around Christmas of 2003.
The Licensing Show itself went extremely well and the Turtles were the hit of the week! Gary and 4Kids spoke with tons of old school licensees who are lining up to get involved with TMNT 2K3! Expect to see a bit of nifty new Turtles merch in the first quarter of 2003 to coincide with the release of the new show and action figure line.. and then a flood of Turtly goodness should be available by Christmas of 2K3!
Unfortunately the video game contracts haven't been fully worked out yet, but we hope to have the scoop on the new games next month. We know - the wait is killin' us, too! =O)
News regarding the new TV series:
We've gotten in the TMNT story bible, which defines the direction that the show will take, the characters that will appear and the plot synopses for the first season. It's great stuff that will be both warmly familiar and cooly surprising! We're very excited about 4Kids' devotion to make the new TMNT cartoon the best ever - and from what we've seen so far, we're confident this will be the case! Whether you're an old school comics fan, original Turtle toon fan, or brand new to the TMNT altogether, this show will have something for you to dig! The animation studio that has been signed up has worked on the "Men in Black" and "Jackie Chan" toons (to name but two), so ya know that the animation will be some of the best to be seen on Saturday morning television!
Characters that will be appearing: the four original Turtles, Master Splinter, April, Casey Jones, The Shredder, The Foot and Baxter Stockman - sure, there's more - but some stuff has to be a surprise. =O)
That's it from the hallowed halls of Mirage for now!
Cheers!
