I don't normally like to post work in progress stuff but it's taking me too long to finish this! I've stuck some bits down just to give a rough idea of what I'm planning:

So far I've only really done the easy part, there's a lot more work to be done. There's a lot of sculpting to be done on the extra walls. On the second sewer, I intend to change the hexagonal opening to an arch, just for variety. The TVs have to be cut out and I'll probably just have a plain wall there. I may add another ledge in the corner of second sewer, but I haven't figured out the best way to do it yet. I have a few pipes from the TMNT sewer and the Batman Begins playset to add, and the spare hexagonal gate to use. Any thoughts on the best way to organise the features would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the kind words everyone, hopefully it'll give me the impetus to finish the project!

I'm certainly very proud to warrant a Regular Show reference! I'll carry on posting bits and pieces as I go along. There are some ladders to go up to the manhole covers but I haven't figured out the best way to attach them yet, I could do with some help there. I'll post some pics to illustrate what I'm thinking.

With regard to the subway tunnels, the back wall is quite big, but doesn't seem tall enough for a usable ledge. I was probably going to put some some pillars on it, as one large brick wall is a bit dull. I don't really think pillars are going to help that very much though, any thoughts on how that wall should look?

Thanks!

Looks great! I've been looking for subway tracks for mine lately, where did yours come from? In can only find them in smaller scales.

Thanks! The subway tracks are just the ones that came with the 2003 sewer lair, I can't think of a good alternative. I got some Duplo train tracks, but the detail on those is really sparse.

I've made a small amount of progress, I've finished one of the extra walls and added the ladder. So, the guys' home is done! Sewer Sweet Sewer!

I'd appreciate any ideas on what I could do with the blank wall at the back of the "subway tunnels", because I'm not really sure what to do with it, I think a wall of bricks is just going to be dull and it needs something to break it up a bit.

That looks amazing, really great work. For the blank walls, I'd go with some arches, like the ones on the second floor of the playset. Then do the posts in grey. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

That TMNT lair is lookin cool! I've been wanting to create a custom diorama too, but I am more focused on custom figures at the moment. Eventually I'll get to the dioramas and vehicles. Nice Work!

D-Nizzy, that's a great idea, I'll do a mock up to try and get an idea how it'll look! Your dios are awesome btw!

TurtleManiac, I look forward to seeing a dio from you in future, I'm sure it'll be great if your custom figures are anything to go by!

It's slow going, but here's another small update. The tunnels are mostly finished. D-Nizzy suggested using arches for the back wall to try to tie the look into the 2003 sewer, which was a great idea and I've tried to do that.

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/Tunnelsnocarriage_zps2b3b800b.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/Tunnelsnocarriage_zps2b3b800b.jpg.html)

I have two spare subway carriages from the 2003 sewer so I stuck them together. I think the effect is ok, it didn't turn out quite as I'd hoped

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/Tunnelscarriage_zps9622d339.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/Tunnelscarriage_zps9622d339.jpg.html)

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/Tunnelscarriage2_zps189d1bd6.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/Tunnelscarriage2_zps189d1bd6.jpg.html)

Lastly just a couple of pics to show how the tunnels fit with the two sewer playsets

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/TunnelsLeft_zpsaaafb851.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/TunnelsLeft_zpsaaafb851.jpg.html)

I need a picture or something for the tunnels to disguise that the tracks don't continue past the arches. I'm not sure how successful that's going to be though, I'd be very grateful for any suggestions!

Thanks everyone!

I have a few updates modeled by Raph, Leo and Metalhead, please bear with me while I ramble about them!

First, I changed the back wall on the tunnels slightly because the air bubbles were annoying me. I'm happier with it now.

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/5thJanuary2014155_zpsa25702a6.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/5thJanuary2014155_zpsa25702a6.jpg.html)

I have mostly finished the next section, which is modified from part of a 2003 sewer, using some pieces from a Batman Begins playset and the the water feature from a Ratatouille playset. I added the arches for a bit of variety. The pool was sculpted and I used a water effect over the top of it. It's glossy, but the camera doesn't always pick it up. Not really much else to say. Obviously I'll need to add something behind the arches so that it looks like they actually go somewhere.

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/5thJanuary2014154_zpsff7c76c6.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/5thJanuary2014154_zpsff7c76c6.jpg.html)

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/5thJanuary2014157_zpsa410aadf.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/5thJanuary2014157_zpsa410aadf.jpg.html)

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/5thJanuary2014160_zpsdcc6d30c.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/5thJanuary2014160_zpsdcc6d30c.jpg.html)

There's a space to the left of the pool and I was planning to use part of the Anchovy Alley playset because it has some nice details, but it would need quite a lot of work to incorporate it with the other bits.

Finally, here's just another pic to give a sense of how it fits together

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/5thJanuary2014158_zps67197b4e.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/5thJanuary2014158_zps67197b4e.jpg.html)

As always, any thoughts, criticisms etc. would be appreciated

Thanks very much! I'd love to add the vintage and 2012 lairs, especially after seeing Huzzah's work on the vintage playset but I've maxed out all the space I have. I still keep an eye for them at a reasonable price on eBay though, just in case! The next TMNT playset I plan to incorporate are the z-lines but that's prob a while off yet, the sewer is still not quite done

You can usually catch the vintage lair for a good price, if you don't mind if being incomplete. The one I did cost 10 bucks, though it was missing a couple parts.

I've never done warhammer or things like that but I have some friends that do and one of them actually works on a Warhammer shop.
I've seen landscapes, tanks, orcs and robots with mindblowing paintjobs in very small scales and I thought I had seen the peak of a fantastic craftman work.

Well, I was wrong. Your work redefines not only what a turtle's lair should be, but also the way we all should display our figures: out of their box, literally living in their house and hidding from the surronding real world.

I loved it when you were considering on adding the last past to the set but thought it'd take too much work and then excell yourself one more time to put in on the set.

Can't find more words to say this. Wonderful job, thank you.

I finished the sewer part of my dio, for now at least. Just a couple of tweaks needed to finish it off.

Added some posters and sculpted on a couple of the floors:

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s561/toasthider/Not%20checked%20273_zpsdw5abspt.jpg (http://s1306.photobucket.com/user/toasthider/media/Not%20checked%20273_zpsdw5abspt.jpg.html)

Added a few images in the doorways so that they look like they lead somewhere:

And finally, a bit more sculpting and scans so that the subway tunnel doesn't just stop when it gets to the arches! This is probably my favourite part:
