View Full Version : [Question] Is my signature too big?

I don't want to get banned for this, so, is my signature too big?

Yes. Man, that's insanely huge. It takes up about 2/3 of my screen.

Put the gifs side by side instead of one above the other, then it should be alright. But ya, way too big right now.

Ya, there is a dimension limit, I think (?) it also makes threads easier to read if signatures not insanely long in length- some people use the spoiler tags for a quick fix.

From the forum rules:
The total size of all images and text in your signature should be no more than 250 pixels high and 550 pixels wide. Also, no single picture in your signature should be more than 300KB in file size.

Am i ok with this?

and can i shrink the gif or not? (and if so how? )

Yep too big, forum rules or not, it takes up too much screen and is ultimately distracting from the posts.

This board has been around for a while, and who knows how long ago those rules were made. By 2013 standards i think the size limit is a bit restrictive. It is what it is though, and you have to try to stay within them or face consequences from the site admins.

You could either put the images next to each other, or put your signature as a spoiler like me.

What's fun about a sig if nobody sees it... putting it in spoiler tags may collapse it but almost nobody will take the time to look at it that way.

I had problems trying to resize it. That's why I used the spoiler tag.

I think yours is fine, but Snakweed, you should probably either put the gifs side by side or just get rid of one of them all together.

I understand the reason but it's an internet equivalent of sweeping dust under a rug, IMO. It does not address the real problem (the image being an unacceptable size) and instead hides it :)

The image you use is nice but it's not a proper solution IMO.

I think it's way too big, but mine is pretty big too.

I changed it back to my old sig.

I'd say the text is a bit much, personally.

Long ago, I posted a signature that had some video game images in it, but got a private message warning me to change it because it was too big (I had 2 images next to each other but they were separate files).

There are websites available that you can make the signature smaller, and that's what I do.

Sometimes I'll draw a ninja turtles image and make it smaller to post as a signature.

I'm thinking of changing mine again.... :o (yeah I know, shocking isn't it) :D
