This is just a simple head swap of the 4 turtles, the originals heads seem to fit well onto the Toon Turtles bodies. I was considering going all out and painting these etc, but they are a bit too tall to fit in with the rest of my vintage customs, so I will leave them as is for now, the bodies aren't even glued back together, this was just a quick side project, I wanted to see how the set of 4 would look. I may update them later so they can be a stand-alone set and/or possibly make other figures for them to scale with, but not anytime soon.

Hmmm, they don't really fit, I don't mean to offend you but they don't look so good. But Raph is the best out of the three.

^ I agree, Raph is the best out of all of them. The Toon Turtles figures were produced in '92, but released in early '93 (around February, to be exact).

I'm guessing the head spinning doesn't work on Raph?

Is there a way to remove the shimmer coat and see what the base figures look like?

I hope so! I'd love to see what the bodies look like, even though the shimmer coat is one of my favorite features with Toon Turtles.

I've wanted to see what this looked like for a long time. Those bodies stand up straight, and without the toony expressions look pretty decent. Thanks for sharing!

Nope, the headspinning device was removed leaving an empty gap on the shell.

Probably lightly sanding would be the best bet.

I know these probably look strange right now because the skin tones of the heads and bodies don't match, but Raph is probably the closest match as has been said. These are just simple head swaps, if I ever decide to do more to these they would look much better. Thanks everyone for commenting.

Don't the undercover figures with the cloth coats use the toon body?

Would probably be easier to work with then the sparkle turtles, The Raph that came with the Toon Cycle also was without sparkles.

But aren't the real coat undercovers pretty rare?

Hmm, maybe. Didn't think about that :P

If you combed enough lots on eBay, you could probably get them pretty cheap but they'd be bare.

Did you do vice versa as well?

No didn't do vice versa, but it would probably require some additional work because the toon heads don't have pegs molded onto them. Also they would probably look too big on the '88 bodies.

this is very interesting. i've kinda always wanted to see how something like this would look.

i think the reason raph looks the best out of the group is because in the pic, his head color matches that of his body pretty well where as the other three's head color appears darker. i always loved the design of the toon body vs the regular.

Yes indeed Raph's green matches the best out of the 4. With a simple repaint they would all look much better. I plan to do more to these later on. And I also like the desgin of the toon bodies because particularly the front shell plastron actually looks more like the toon and the sculpted on belts looks better.

A while back I did this same head swap custom, but only of Donatello, and went the extra step and repainted it, but I have since sold that custom, so these 4 pictured above are new. The first one I made can be seen here:
