View Full Version : My custom TMNT nes/First ever post

Hey guys this is my very first post here at The Technodrome! I just wanted to show you guys my custom Donatello nes I made! It was a long process but well worth it. I would love your guys feedback good or bad. I know some of the pictures are fuzzy or make the lettering looking blurred but that is just my shaky hand using my Galaxy S3 to take the pictures. Also the lighting in my house isn't the best so other people on another site have said that the ooze green color I used is yellow. I assure you it is Neon Green! My camera on my phone just doesn't do this system justice! I hope you all enjoy!!

Welcome, damn hell of a first post! Good job, I can't say anything about the controllers, because I could do any better, just amazing. The console I would have done some sort of wrap around custom art for the console. (I do a *little* sketching) that's just the artist in me screaming.

I just think the console is a little bland overal, but good color scheme choice, like how you incoperated the ooze in it.

I was going for more of a classic 90's look. I really didn't want the feel of the console to be to modernized. I am a terrible artist and do not have the talent to do something as complex as a wrap around art. However I do love that idea and might have to incorporate it into the next one. I am making one nes for each of the turtles just to have a complete set. I think Mikey is next on the list. Thank you for the kind words and constructive criticism and I hope more of it pours in!

Glad you worked the fire graphic into the controller.

As a kid, I always used to have my turtles stand in the fire during the first level to make a statement about how edgy I was.

Looks pretty damn cool man, I like the color scheme. The only thing that irks me is that it's a retro console with retro graphics on the controls, yet you used a 2003 Donatello on the top. Would be better suited with the Fred Wolf version, IMO. Anyways, nice work, and welcome to the drome.

Really cool but i do agree with Powder would be better with the 80s Donatello.

Using 2k3 Don works, if only because it's Dooney's design being used. Dooney did the art for two out of three NES games pictured, after all.

I know it bothered me to use a 2k3 Donny as well. I just couldn't find a suitable 80's Donny vinyl anywhere. I had to have the size on this one customized for it to even fit without it taking over the whole top of the system. I wasn't even a huge fan of the 2k3 series but that image has grown on me! Thanks for all your suggestions. When I get to work on Mikeys nes I will put all of your opinions into consideration! I hope more people chime in because I am always looking to better what I am doing! Thanks again guys!

Love it. I'm too lazy to do something like that myself, but still, very cool.

Well done my dude. I started working on something similar... I wonder where you got your controller decal? I've been working on a controller using auto-paint and an airbrush...

The NES decal isn't adhered to the controller yet. I've been keeping my eye out for something cool like you have there.
