I went to Walmart in the afternoon and managed to get all 3 of the live action TMNT movies on Blu Ray. They were pretty cheap too. :)

I played a little bit of the first movie and noticed a lot of film grain. Are all the blu ray releases of TMNT like the 25th anniversary have the same film grain on them? Hopefully by the 30th anniversary, they release versions that are cleaned up, digitally remastered and no film grain.

Well, all 3 movies were $6.96 at Walmart. Can't beat a good deal.

How do they look picture wise? I'm a Blu Ray nut and I still haven't bought these. I heard the quality of the first movie wasn't the best.

I need to get a blu-ray player too... the first movie was only released in the Netherlands on DVD, and it's in crappy quality... like this:

Yeah should've gotten the whole 4 movies set for completion, but hey, $6 is a good deal.

I got the 4 movies set, pic quality is the best they have ever been imo.

The Blu-Rays themselves have the same pizza covers. So I bet those are just the regular blu-ray versions packaged in a 4 box set.

All 3 look good in HD, You just gotta get used to the film grain. 2014 will be the 30th Anniversary of TMNT, I'm willing to bet that Warner Bros/New Line Cinema will do a complete restoration of the original films with less film grain and plenty of extras for release just in time for the upcoming TMNT reboot from Paramount.

I want that set :-/
Will all the 'lil goodies.

I have the individual TMNT1 and TMNT2 BluRay.
Same pizza disc art.
Although I'm not sure if it's my player or not but there are interference flashes when I watch the first movie (can't remember the second movie).
It does that for my Steelbook Batman also... both I got from WalMart.

Another thing worth noting:
I bought two copies of the 1st movie from WalMart 'cus the first one I bought has image interference.
The 1st copy was bought from the $8 BluRay bin. The case plastic feels thin and there is the cut-out recycle logo behind the digital code.
The 2nd copy I bought off a cardboard display for $6.99 or so. The plastic case feels harder and there is no cut out recycle logo behind the digital code coupon (both copies have different code inserts).
Both copies have image interference and it's hard to tell if one has more than the other copy but they do not show up in the same area (but they might, I haven't sat down to compare the two in depth).

I think due to film conditions, the 1st movie looks the "worst" and the 3rd movie looks the best in HD.
It depends on the technology at the time when the movies were filmed and what they had to do to restore the film to HD.
There are a lot of dark areas in the first movie and discoloration in the night scenes that have always been part of that movie. Such as Casey sleeping in the truck and Splinter telling the story of the Turtles origin to April.
Both were scenes that were too dark on VHS, I remembered. The DVD version improved on that and the BluRay, although in a few areas inferior to the DVD, is the overall best version.

I would be surprised if they restore and reissue the movies before the new one...

I read the reviews on BluRay.com

Good move. That movie looks gorgeous in 1080p. I think you could actually see the blood vessels in Raph's eyes when they had a closeup of his face during the rooftop fight.

The grain is because of the low lighting and film stock, and, I believe, is also a stylistic choice for the flashbacks.

Warner Bros. will probably never do a meticulous restoration. I don't think they care about these films enough to do anything more than repackage what already exists with new cover art, and that's probably what they'll do in 2014, if they do anything at all.
