This will be my thread for TMNT OA/ production art/ prints and TMNT artist's other work. My main focus is to have a minimum of one page from as many volume one issues as possible. Understandably, I accept I may never reach 100% completion for various reasons and I have not go to the point of spending $1000's on a single page and probably never will. That said, I am at 45% completion as of this update. Not too bad... Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Round 3:

City at War is and has always been one of my favorite story arcs. It portrays the public and private sides of each character, many of which are coalesced into one flowing narrative. CAW OA is one of my main collecting focus'. Though Eastman and Laird wrote and did pre-lim art, they only did the art for issue 50. The OA pages for the remaining issues pit artists Lawson(penciler) and Aiken(inker) together, with Talbot on tones and Kelleher on lettering. Matt Banning(issue 53 inks) and Jason Temujin Minor(issue 58 and 61 inks) also assisted for a breif period. I very much dig the transitional look from the turtles of ole(Classic E&L) into what was to become their look for the remaining comics Mirage was to produce. The respective goal for my CAW collection is to tell an abridged story of the events within the thirteen issues published. Though I may not have many pages with huge action sequences, the pages I do have are beginning to encompass just what the hell was going on with everybody's personal lives and how they were all tied together. I am always on the lookout to purchase CAW pages. Enjoy :D

Round 7: Sketches and Commissions

Jim Lawson penciled his take on Peter Laird's cover for the original TPB(the B&W wraparound cover) on a big sheet of DuoShade paper(measures 22" x 15"). Eric Talbot inked and toned it with much love. He kept giving me little updates stating how much he was enjoying it. The original pencils were a thought to have a commemorative piece for my daughter's birth(this one's for me...). Eric was kind enough to ink in a Easter egg for my daughter... I also put the pencils onto a 11" x 17" piece of smooth bristol and Steve Lavigne inked and colored that. I very much appreciate the contrast!!!! Thanks guys!!! The middle pic is of both of them holding a partially finished page. The outer pics are of each of them holding the finished product.

Jim Lawson 30th Anniversary commission/pre-lim

Jim Lawson / Gerhard role reversal sketch

Lawson / Bissette Bing Con 2015 Jam Sketch 11" x 17"(Lawson Zog Triceraton / Bissette Leatherhead). This is now going to be a yearly ritual. How do we top this one???

Dan Berger Splinter Sketch

Dan Berger 1991 con sketch

I ordered some books from Mirage recently and Dan was kind enough to sketch Leo in the back of a TMNT vol. 4 #30. I love this and it's my first piece directly from him. I appreciate getting art first hand much more than second hand.

Steve Lavigne Flaming Carrot/ Krang/ Foot Soldier

Eric Talbot Sketches

Round 8: Sketches and Commissions II

I had a few Stan Sakai OA pieces and really love how big his heart is. He's constantly vouching for benefit and fundraising groups. I love the "Art of Usagi Yojimbo" book the DHP published a few years back. With some finesse and some gab, he was kind enough to start a jam page on one of the blank interior pages of that book. I love his "updated" self portrait with the beard. He also drew Myamoto, Tomoe and Spot. I can know bring this great book to any con he's at and have a reason to happily wait in his line...

Also, another quickie sketch in the Sakai Project book. I'm pretty psyched they published one of my auction donations. I'm starting to bring this awesome book to cons and collect signatures from all the published collaborators. Every single person has had the greatest things to say about
Stan and Sharon(RIP). Bless them both!

Mark Bode sketch from SAC-CON 2014 Thanks Chris!

Rick Arthur sketch and pre-lims

Khary Randolph Triceraton sketch

Steve Bissette Snapper sketch

Steve Bissette / Jim Lawson Bing Con 2014 Jam sketch 11" x 17"
It's a mommy and daughter dino sketch that commemorates my daughter's birth. She was three days old when this as done. Both Jim and Steve are some of the nicest people in the biz. Bing Con is a great little show in Springfield MA. It's very much worth making the drive from NJ... nuff said

Gerhard sketch for the WW Philly 2016 show. The caption was fitting since it was my birthday and I went out drinking after the show.

10-21-2013, 06:45 PM
Great photos makes me want to start collecting something like this!

10-21-2013, 08:08 PM
Thanks man! I got a new scanner and have been re doing all my images. Art is a real fun, real expensive hobby. I struggle to read anything since the early 90's, so this is my compromise...

I notice the price. Thats why i dont do toys and art i wouldnt be able to pay my bills. But if the price is right i dont think its out of my reach just yet lol. But great work once again looks awesome

Round 9: Sketches and Commissions III / Graded books(COVERS)

Dario Brizuela Leonardo and Splinter sketch

Rich Woodall double TMNT #22 (pencil sketch /hyper green Jetpack RE's) blank sketch

Cory Smith TMNT Full Cover Mixed Media (He is one cool cat and has major talent IMO!!!) I actually dismantled the comic to get a good scan of the cover. Prob gonna leave it off.

Kevin Eastman Raphael sketch on the IDW Limited Blue Label 25th Anniversary HC with a Peter Laird headsketch on the back cover / Signed by Eastman, Talbot, Lavigne and Lawson

Kevin Eastman Casey Jones Sketch CGC SS 9.8

Michael Dooney April O'neil sketch on a TMNT blank CGC SS 9.8

Jim Lawson commission. I asked for a Shredder elite guard. He nailed it and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Glenn for the hook up! 9.6

Jim Lawson cutesy Space Giraffe sketch. Jim drew this for my daughter. I asked for a space giraffe in the style that the playmates toys pre-lims were drawn. It includes all the weaponry that would've been included the packaging.

Eric Talbot wrap around sketch CGC SS 9.8

12-19-2013, 06:17 AM
ah, you scored the full bodied color Raph...NICE!

12-20-2013, 08:52 AM
I wasn't as keen on it when I first got it. It's growing on me. I put a pic of your Deligiannis custom next to it in the IDW Limited forum... pretty accurate IMO.

that's usually happens at times. whenever most of us get a mystery item, we always put in our heads (consciously or subconsciously) our favorite possible outcomes. when that item is anything but what our predetermined desired outcome was, we get disappointed. we set ourselves up for failure, lol. let me assure you that what you got is a quality piece for sure! But I'm sure there are a few others out there that would trade covers with you. Someone is always trying to trade up for their favorite character and Raph is easily the most popular turtle.

12-27-2013, 09:51 PM
Wow so much great art pieces

12-31-2013, 09:40 AM
Your art pages are simply incredible. Really blown away of what you own right now!

A little of everything from old to new.

Peter Laird's SCAT Magazines. Historically, I believe it is accepted that SCAT #1 is the magazine Eastman found on the bus that led him to seek out and find Peter Laird... I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering how many issues of this magazine exist. UPDATE: Per "Ask PL", "I was only involved in the Scat project for a few issues -- four or five, I think, though I could be misremembering -- but I am pretty sure it got up to around twenty issues. Again it's been a long time, and I didn't pay a lot of attention to it once I'd left the project."

Barbaric Fantasy #1 CGC SS 8.0 This is Peter Laird's first published comic book(circa 1972) and the only graded SS copy, currently. Unicorns do exist... Thanks to Archon for help with supporting evidence for CGC verification! Signed by Laird

Gizmo #1 CGC SS 9.6 / Gizmo TPB signed by Dooney

Round 11: Signed/Remarked/Sketched Books and Prints

TMNT V#1 3rd print

FCBD 2014 Prints

30th Anniversary print by Eastman, Laird and Lavigne

TMNT Vol. 1 RTNY prints/ B&W prints of the inked cover art that were used as promos at conventions way back when

Jim Lawson RTNY Print - Jim took the OA and had super high quality reproductions made. These are the same size as the original sheet of DuoShade (the print measure ~ 20" x 15") and have a finish that's very close to a Giclee feel. These are super limited at 20. This is definitely one of my favorite prints! Thanks Jim!

11 x 17 print by Rich Woodall and Matt Talbot / Sketch Card by Rich Woodall

Melting Pot T-Shirt from Fantacon 1989, I love the Eastman/Talbot art style from this era. Very stoked to have a shirt in great shape from that time.

This is the messenger bag I brought to my first day as a freshman in high school some 19 years ago.... I have been collecting signatures on it for a while and it's starting to get cramped, not a bad thing... There are currently 52 Sig's to date. I'll try to list off the autographs in chronological order:

Jetpack Comics TMNT #22 Artist's appearence. I drove to Shellback for the first time, then headed over to Jetpack to meet Rich and Matt. Super coool people all around and a great day!

Round 12: Cover Proofs and Unused Covers (These lie flat and were not folded nor stapled). Proofs were not trimmed and have a white border. They printed, then sent out for editor approval before making the final prints. Unused covers were approved and trimmed cover copies that were never used. And that concludes the lesson for the day.

TMNT Vol 1 Issue 1 4th print unused cover / TMNT V1 Iss2 3rd print unused cover / TMNT V1 Iss4 2nd print cover proof

TMNT Vol 1 Issue 4 2nd print / Vol 1 Issue 4 2nd print ERROR and Tales of the TMNT Vol.1 issue 1 ERROR cover proofs / I don't own a regular Tales V1 unused cover anymore, but did and have added a scan for some reference. These were all scanned with the same scanner, so it's cool to see the differences in coloring.
*Many fans are aware the 2nd print #4 error actually made it to print, Prior to FCBD 2015, I had never seen the Tales #1 Error counterpart... This is a really nice correlation for fans of the older comics :)

TMNT V1 Iss 6 1st and 2nd prints unused covers / TMNT V1 Iss 7 1st print unused cover / TMNT V1 Iss 8 unused cover

TMNT Vol 1 Iss 9 unused cover / 10 and 11 cover proofs

TMNT Vol 1 Issue 18 unused cover

TMNT Vol 1 Donatello Micro unused cover / TMNT Vol 1 Michaelangelo unused cover

Round 14: Captain America Sketch Book

I have always loved Cap, even though I didn't read alot of his comics. I have been trying to get as many Mirage Studios artists(past and present) to sketch in my Cap book. I also look to have any other TMNT artist(non-Mirage) whose work I enjoy sketch in this book. Here they are

Michael Dooney Captain America sketch

Eric Talbot Captain America Skull (I had mentioned him doing this at Fantacon this year. He had time to do it in NY. Totally nailed my request.I love this!!! Awesome job Eric!)
