Hello Dear Dromers, back in 1992 our four green “Toitles” lost their remanining dignity when they came out as part of the Bodacious Birthday series introducing Classic Party Reptile Leo, Raph, the Magnificent and Crazy Clownin' Mike

For many this was the moment when the original toyline jumped the shark or it was a case of “franchise abuse”. I used to think that too but after having second thoughts I actually like them a lot.

The sculpt of these figures was very good (specially Raph and Mike), and each got a special birthday feature which I believe it might have been funny to play back in those days.

The carboard art was very nice too, we got two illustrations for each of this new set. I love these wider cardboards and the tiny datails like filling your name on the cardboard.

Letīs start with our...leader? (maybe after this Leo considered to quit) Classic Party Reptile Leo.

Leo was a nice figure, with not many details, (except for the confeti) maybe didnīt need it being a classic party figure, just pure and simple .

The accessories were:a Kowabunga Customizin' Name Sheet (all came with this one), Pizza Cake, Birthday Bib, Party Horn and the ultra necessary Mutant Noisemaker Mouthpiece feature for party sounds.

I still havenīt found a review on youtube of Classic Party Reptile Leo

Well a party can be even better with a magician, that brings me to the Second of these Bodacious Birthday Series I would like to show you is Raph, the Magnificent .

The Figure itself was just great, the sculpt and details, ( love Raphīs clothes) eally represents an old timer classic Magician and back in those days I probably would have been happy to have at least this one.

The accessories were really good, full of tricks and included: Two Pinhead Jugglin' Pins, a Magic Wavin' Wand with pop-out flowers (canīt be a Magician without one), Pop-out Playing Cards, Kowabunga Customizin' Name Sheet and of course the pop out hat feature with Ronald the Rabbit.

I still havenīt found a review on youtube of Raph, the Magnificent

The final guest of our party third figure was, well how do i say this, the downward spiral, the end of the toyline seriousness, the end of the world as we know or maybe the essential host of a birthday party, a clown, Crazy Clownin Mike.

Crazy Clownin Mike was an awesome figure and proved once more how far Playmates went in term of scultp and details, no matter you like it or not. Love the colours of this figure and the suspenders of course.

The accessories were also impresindible and included: Kowabunga Customizin' Name Sheet, Sock-it-to-'em Sock, Birthday Balloons, Cherry Pie Bomb and Stilt-extendo Legs feature.

The Bodacius Birthday Turtles never appeared in the original tv show. I believe it could have been used in episodes like Michaelageloīs Birhday or Attack of the 50 foot Irma.

Mikeyīs character was so unique that it could be a farmer, a surfer a beachcomber and of course a clown. After all, 20 years after the original Tv series debut, in 2007 Mike performes for birthday parties by the name Cowabunga Carl and using the Cowabunga Carl Party Van.

I believe, it could also have been featured on Season 4 and 5 where some Tmnt episodes were focused in each Turtle individually.

What do you think about these Bodacius Birthday Turtles Tmnt variants? Do you got them?

Did you play with them back in those days? Did you receive one for your birthday?

Or Did you consider it the biggest mistake of the toyline? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time?

Hope you liked and thanks for reading.

P.D. Anyone was afraid of clowns? I was.

I think they are funny. I have all three. I wish they were on the regular sized cards tho, makes it hard to keep the card nice because of the size. Love the sculpts and the artwork. My favorite of the three is def mikey because my dad was a part time clown when I was growing up.

I did not have these back in the day. Nope.

They are cool, but I wouldnt consider them a must have for collectors.

I came into possession of a complete Magician Raph yesterday. Fun figure, but the shark is well and truly jumped. Not sure why they didn't do a Birthday Donatello.

I've scanned in the leaflet from Raph if anyone is curious about his tricks :)

Raph the Magnificent is pretty bad-ass.

When I see some of the more crazily specific variants, I wonder how I would have played with them as a kid, or how they would have fit into the imaginary world/hierarchy of turtle toys. Raph the Magnificent would have most likely become the Turtles rich uncle.

For one of my biggest birthdays I got a rocker Raph, looked really cool and ready to rock the house. I remember the birthday turtles that my friends had, never had any of those myself, Michelangelo was easily my favorite because of all the colors and he was dressed like a colorful clown, plus his legs stretched.

If Birthday Don was made what part would he have filled?

DJ? Party Crasher?

DJ might have worked. Maybe make him look like a one man band. Thank you for the thought.

Do people crash birthday parties?

What if Don were a male stripper?

That would be some kids birthday party.:lol:

The action figure would probably have him in a raincoat or the fire fighting figure of him would have sufficed.
