I can't post any pictures from deviantART (which are mine if anyone's asking). I try the URL, but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong here?

I think DeviantArt block direct URL referencing on images to other locations. You may have to post the URL of the webpage itself.

Excuse me? Could you elaborate more please?

Have you tried right clicking the image, and clicking view image, then copying the URL?

I believe DeviantArt block the method that Shiro Kame mentions. You can't third party reference images from DA elsewhere. I guess they do it to slowdown bandwidth use if people want to try nicking or using the images elsewhere.

Right click on the picture. Click "copy image address ". Then when making a post here, click the little yellow square at the top of the post box and paste the image address in there. Then the picture should show up in your post.

Reupload it to imgur and use that url instead.

I use photobucket to host the pics I post. It's free and easy to use. As others said, some websites don't want you "piggybacking" off of their hosting as it uses their bandwidth.

Would a Tumblr work?

Yes. I post images hosted on tumblr all the time.

Um...how do you post pictures here from Tumblr? I'm having a hard time trying...

Right click the image, press 'Copy Image Location', paste the image location in the 'Insert Image' Button on this website, then it should work.

That's not what's listed when I right click on my mouse.

Are you using Chrome instead of Firefox? I can't remember if Chrome has the same option...

My Macbook says "copy image address" instead of location.

...You can download another browser. Any browser. IE is garbage.

How and where...and how come IE is garbage?

Just search for another browser and download it. IE is incredibly slow, laggy and doesn't offer as much as another browser.

It's not so much that IE is garbage per se, it's gotten a lot better over the last couple of releases. Just that it doesn't adhere to some web standards the other browsers will, and the majority of malware is targeting at exploiting holes in it compared to its rivals.

Right click and "open link in new window/tab".

Which one's better?

Judging from my experince with them both, I would say that they are about equal.

Which sites will this work on. Will it work on dA? It didn't work on Tumblr.

Okay, just download Firefox and follow my screenshot. It literally works every time.

Of course it will, that's why I'm suggesting you do it.

...

No, it won't harm anything at all. Contrary to popular belief, not everything on the internet is a "virus".

Yes, it will. Right click, select "copy image URL", IIRC, then paste the url in the box when you click on the "insert image" button on the reply page.

I just did a little while ago on my Shiro Kame/WildCat7812's Art Thread. Check it out if you want.
